  1. Ah, here's the Royals Bad Cuban SS. Everybody wants one.
  2. Bannister and Buehrle are fun to watch when they're both locating. Every pitch has a specific motivation behind it.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 17, 2009 -> 09:16 PM) Vintage Pods Befuddled by a cutter that actually cut into the middle of the plate.
  4. Leyland and Boras are actually really close personally. I don’t see this Ordonez situation having a big effect on that relationship.
  5. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 17, 2009 -> 09:08 PM) Sox signed Justin Knoedler today and assigned him to Charlotte. Three catchers on that roster now. Knoedler was a nice prospect a couple years ago. Just another nail in Donny Lucy's coffin. I don't see a return to AAA in Lucy's future.
  6. Shelby continues his great month of August with a home-run.
  7. Josh Fields keeps hitting. Had a double in his 1st AB.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 17, 2009 -> 08:36 PM) Rios seemed like he was hitting everything either too the wall or right next to the foul pole while in Oakland. A lot to straight center too. The ball will carry a lot more in the Cell. So, we should see the power numbers pick up.
  9. I’m not sure I understand what Morgado is playing at here. Obviously, money is a factor, but the fact is he was drafted as a project. He bombed out of the Tennessee rotation, and wasn’t even invited back to the team, prior to his Cape Cod performance. A man like that should want to prove himself. The fact is the White Sox took an honest gamble on him, and I find it a dubious decision that he chose to spurn that.
  10. Another great piece, JPN. I was hoping you could cover a bit more on Santeliz. I've heard from a couple of sources around the net that the kid has a bit of arrogance to him. That he puts himself above the team. Have you heard anything like this? Is it possible that his class clown personality had led to his attitude being misconstrued by some people? Ultimately, if the kid can pitch, the kid can pitch, but character counts for something.
  11. Apart from last year, Huff has never been that great. I'm not concerned with him being a Tiger, nor do i think this really changes anything in the great divisional picture.
  12. Morgado had a chance to redeem himself for a bad year of College in a Dan Hudson-esque fashion in our organization. It's a shame that his Cape Cod performance has inflated his value to the point, where signing him is not cost effective.
  13. QUOTE (longshot7 @ Aug 17, 2009 -> 05:07 PM) As to the Huff trade, yes you are right. But overall since their defense is vastly better than ours, it's not insignificant. That's the only gripe I had with your post. Understandable, the White Sox are well-below average defensively in nearly every position.
  14. I'd prefer to have a 12 man pen, rather then sacrifice a spot to keep D-Wheezey on the roster.
  15. QUOTE (longshot7 @ Aug 17, 2009 -> 04:23 PM) I completely disagree. Don't you think we would have won 3 more games (at least) if our defense hadn't been so shoddy? There's probably a stat to back up this claim. The Tigers defense has been better then us all year. The move for Huff doesn't improve it at all. The fact is we've been on their heels all year. Ideally, another week of Nix at 2b, and now with, Rios in CF should close the gap even further.
  16. QUOTE (Tex @ Aug 17, 2009 -> 04:06 PM) Since almost everyone thinks the AL Central is a crap division, doesn't that mean there are 4-5 crap teams in the division? And I say 4-5 because one may be below crap. I’d argue that the Tigers and White Sox are probably the only above-average teams in the division (in an ideal world) with the Twins being simply average, and the Indians and Royals being well below.
  17. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 17, 2009 -> 04:06 PM) Whahaha and that is a good thing for the tigers? LOL, by all means. Go ahead and put Guillen in left Absolutely. Huff, like Washburn, is due for a huge raise in arbitration. So, the Tigers are either going to have to risk taking on a lot of salary or simply sacrifice those draft picks. Essentially, The Tigers have traded a nice arm for a month and a half of Huff.
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 17, 2009 -> 04:00 PM) Isnt Huff at this point a 1B or 3b? Who is he going to replace? Inge or Cabrera? I cant see them replacing Raburn in the outfield, that would be disastrous defensively. Even if you replace Inge with Huff at 3rd, the guy is a butcher IIRC Raburn had three errors yesterday, including two in the 10th inning. I imagine Huff will DH with Guillen shifting to left.
  19. We’re still better then the Tigers in the rotation and pen. We also have the bench advantage along with both corner infield spots, and the shortstop and catcher position. The Tigers defense remains superior to our own, but ultimately, I’d say this does little to affect the divisional race.
  20. QUOTE (JackTalkThai @ Aug 17, 2009 -> 03:44 PM) The Tigers acquire Aubrey Huff. A nice upgrade over Ryan Raburn.
  21. I'm actually somewhat confident in our chances if we do make the playoffs. Peavy, Buehrle, Floyd and Danks give us a rotation to keep us in any game.
  22. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 17, 2009 -> 02:58 PM) Ozzie is learning!! This is pretty much our optimal defensive alignment with our current roster. Make of that what you will.
