QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 11:24 PM) This article just makes you shake your head....I can't believe he mentions the NL games as part of his justification for rotating DH. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,6226876.story This article should actually be titled: "White Sox Manager Ozzie Guillen doesn't like to admit that he was wrong."

Ozzie Ball is shaping up to be one of the most disastrous offensive experiments in recent memory. At least the basecloggers are gone . It's like half of our roster is being used to kill the other half of the rosters rallies.

Game Thread 8/10: MIN v CWS, 7:10pm

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 11:26 PM) I'll take our starting pitching and bullpen on paper and in real life over the Twins every day of the week. I'd be perfectly fine with a group of middling starters, if my offense and defense is assured to fill up a lot of that void. The Twins have that. They don't have superstars at every position, but what they do have is fairly dependable production from the key spots in their order. The Twins are as versatile, as the Sox want to be. -

It hurts losing to a team that still looks better on paper, whose GM actually went out looking to fill the holes on their roster this offseason. At least we got Ozzie to admit this is the best team he's ever managed. -
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 10:18 PM) I get it that saber isn't the end all be all way to baseball, but the fact that Ozzie goes out of his way to ignore it is infuriating. Exactly, I’ve never claimed that he has to be an expert or even a believer. But surely someone has said to him, “Hey, Ozzie. Did you know that if a stolen bass percentage is below 75% you’re wasting a s*** load of outs?” Or hey, “how about it cuts your chances of scoring a run into thirds if you bunt like you do?” Or, “Hey Ozzie. Take a look at these matchups! Do you see how Markakis hits against lefties? Maybe Sale isn’t the best idea?” Or, “ hey Ozzie. Andrew Jones and Mark Kotsay suck. Seriously, Kotsay is one of the worst players in all of baseball. ”

As a Weaver Ball guy, this team makes me want to put my head through the wall. Ozzie manages against every sabermetric principle in the book. He has no idea how to optimize the potential offensive output of the group of guys he wanted.

Does anyone really feel comfortable with Ozzie in a battle of wits against any decent manager? He has no strategy. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 10:06 PM) That's what Ozzie does. He loves wasting outs. There's going to be a serious sabermetric deconstruction of this team when the year is out. It is not going to be pretty. -

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 10:01 PM) Impressive swan dive at least by Carlos. We can see him bat in a few weeks when he's off the DL. Don't tell me that a lineup with both Kotsay and Jones in it doesn't thrill you. -

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 09:27 PM) I know we are all excited about the potential of Viciedo but I think he needs to go back to Charlotte and get more seasoning and help with his fielding. He has made some costly errors over at 3B Don't worry. When Teahen gets back, he will. -

When does it become acceptable for a team with a 1 game division lead to lose 3 of 4 from literally the worst team in all of baseball? Why are their excuses being made here? This kind of stuff should not be tolerated, these are the games that good teams win. -

QUOTE (southsidepride15 @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 09:09 PM) Yeah, blow it up...we're terrible. Twins rule. We go on a bad stretch of a few games against a "bad team" (there are no bad teams) and everyone's ready to pack it in and b#$% about how we look like we did in April and May. NEWSFLASH: It's not going to come easy. We just might have to play the last 50 games and see what happens. This team is giving away innings because of poor at-bats. We look completely unprepared to beat even bad teams at the moment. The Orioles are on pace to lost 100 games, these are the teams we're supposed to leave in our dust. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 09:05 PM) I don't care that we're tied for first. KW/Ozzie=fail for this season and every other season save 2005. This team is being crippled by poor in-game management and the mistakes of our front office. At what point did KW decide that not getting a bat at the deadline was an option? If i'm him i don't get off the damn phone until someone, anyone, can be brought in to fix the mess that Ozzie and Kenny created. -

This is some of the most unbelievably stupid baseball I’ve ever seen played. We look identical offensively to how we looked at the start of the year.
