  1. Shoemaker is 1-4 with a two-run bomb.
  2. Wow, Bob Geren looks dapper in that suit. I hope this is like that throwback game back in KC, where everyone but Thome looked ridiculous.
  3. QUOTE (longshot7 @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 12:35 PM) Don't forget the Sox defense committed two errors behind Jose in the 4th on Friday, both of which led to runs. Jose still gave up 8 hits, including a homer in 4 innings. That's not good.
  4. What was that really forced Jenks one that was bouncing around here last week? Blubbly Junks? Something like that. Yeah, well that one sucked
  5. I'd put him through waivers, and try to work something out. If not his best value for this team is not in the minors, but in the pen. He's actually fairly solid through 3 innings of work.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 15, 2009 -> 08:00 AM) So there are 33 teams in MLB now? You sly bastard. I have in retrospect added the existence of a new Las Vegas team (the Wildcards), and Canadian team (The Irrelevant’s) to not only the MLB, but also to the list of suitors for Marmosl services.. Knowing this, we can retroactively say that my previous post made sense.
  7. QUOTE (gatnom @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 12:27 AM) I love Bobby, but if throwing his curve hurts his shoulder then I don't want him anywhere near this team next year. Yep, If a pitcher can’t throw his one premium pitch, and his K rate declines nearly every year, you need to cut the chord.
  8. After b****ing about Brothers for a while, I’ve really warmed up to Mitchell. To the point, where i expect great things from him. I really like Holmberg, think Phegley has potential, and there are some great kids like Shoemaker that we picked in the backend of the draft. It is, however, of some concern that of the four kids who we had expected to be tough signs, absolutely none of them are close to being signed. These four were expected to be major coups had we been able to get even one or two of the, but none of them? That’s bad, that’s really bad. And Morgado, after not drafting Brothers, trading Poreda, We need to get some legitimate lefty pitching in the organization by next year’s draft.
  9. I happen to really like Nix. Even when he doesn't do well. Nights like this give me hope.
  10. Decent line for Holmberg. Good to see the walks down and the K's up. Bristol Player IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA Holmberg, D 3.0 4 3 2 1 5 1 4.26
  11. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Aug 15, 2009 -> 11:04 PM) BA now listing Morgado as "Expected to return to Tennessee". http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/draft...009/268711.html Not good to hear at all. Morgado fills a clear void in our system.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 15, 2009 -> 07:52 PM) David Wright was hit in the head by a Matt Cain pitch and left the game. That was very scary to see in person. He was down for quite a bit. So, I’m sad to report that Shea stadium is now a more literal parking lot then it used to be. Citi Field on the other hand is very pretty but plain. From a spectator standpoint there’s really not a bad seat in the house. There are great vantages points all across the ballpark. The stadium, however, fails to really revolutionize anything, it’s very cookie cutter, the exterior is stunning, the interior, however is much like The Cell it’s serves its purpose, but it’s fairly ordinary. The pitching match up was as advertised. Cain worked quickly throwing strikes; Santana struggled at 1st, but leveled off towards the end of the game. The highlight of the game came when Sandoval homered following two consecutive back-off pitches. The feeling at the end of the game for Mets fans was vaguely funereal.
  13. I'll be heading to the train in about an hour to go see Giants-Mets in the city. I'm very excited as Cain-Santana is one of the more premium pitching matchups, i'll see this year.
  14. QUOTE (longshot7 @ Aug 15, 2009 -> 03:51 AM) That ball hit to Nix was definitely an error. Hard to stop the flow when you're not that good and your defense commits two errors in one inning that leads to runs. Are you referring to the insanely difficult play that Nix tried to make to this right, that only looked close because of his good range, which comes from him being a GOOD fielder?
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 10:11 PM) The 'great' Carlos Marmol strikes again! I'd kill to have Marmol in our pen. 31 other teams would kill for him too.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 15, 2009 -> 01:34 AM) I still say who the hell did Toronto have that was a leader? No one. They couldn't lead for s***. You had players fighting with managers, a jackass GM calling out other teams players, etc. Now he's coming to Chicago with a top flight manager (Cito is top notch though as well) and a ton of real solid veterans all while playing in a pennant race for one of the few times in his career and doing it in a city that LOVES baseball. Really Toronto is nothing like Chicago. The Toronto organization has had Ted Lilly punch a manager in the face, Billy Koch go off the rails, and Shea Hillenbrand write “sinking ship” on the clubhouse chalkboard. Perhaps, they’d be better pressed to check themselves before they wreck themselves.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 15, 2009 -> 01:24 AM) Rios makes it look a lot easier and seems to cover more ground. Yep, Rios makes hard plays look routine. That’s the sign of a great defender. He doesn’t need to finish a play with a flourish; he finishes it with an out. His range will markedly improve our outfield, in ways that only BA could do before.
  18. AJ nickname was "clubhouse poison" when he got here. Jenks was an immature, lazy punk. This organization has a way of changing people, so does the simple act of maturing in both age and skills. The majority of comments on Rios’s behavior seem ambiguous and bitter. I don’t know what kind of guy he is; all I know is that he’s a hell of a ballplayer.
  19. Our bullpen is deadly when it's on. Nice win tonight, but depressing to see Contreras make (potentially) his last start ever for this team.
  20. We won our worst pitching matchup of the series. Hopefully, a positive sign of things to come.
  21. Thank you for that, NOMAR. And thank the bullpen for that WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
  22. QUOTE (GO CHI SOX! @ Aug 15, 2009 -> 01:08 AM) Contreras will be sent down again to find himself. Or Colon.
