  1. This was a fantastic game. Lineceum was absolutely filthy, and would have gotten a CG win if it wasn’t for the umpires blowing a call at 1st. Uribe destroyed that ball too.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 01:03 PM) Chris Getz has a line of .296 .359 in 22 games since the ASB. In July and August he has started to show a better ability to avoid the strikeout and get on base. When Rios is in the lineup, he should be in CF and I think we should give Getz a shot to hit leadoff. This would be my lineup. 1. Getz 2B 2. Beckham 3B 3. Quentin LF 4. Thome DH 5. Konerko 1B 6. Dye RF 7. AJP C 8. Rios CF 9. Alexei SS This absolutely what we should be doing. I would, however, switch Rios with AJ. Lefty/right splits be damned, I’d prefer to see Rios gets more AB’s.
  3. We need to put our primary offensive players in the position to get the most AB's. Sadly, this will result in Pods losing playing time. Putting Rios and Beckham in the leadoff position would marginalize their strengths as run producers. So, assuming that the Getz we're seeing presently is here to stay, he needs to move to the leadoff spot, given a lack of superior options. Lineup: Getz Beckham Q Thome Konerko Dye Rios AJ Ramirez Bench Kotsay: 1b, Of Castro: C Pods: OF Nix: Utility.
  4. QUOTE (suicidesqueeze @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 05:43 PM) The whole Carlos Lee for Pods and then some deal. That got us a ring, baby! That and the great pitching and massive amount of bombs we hit.
  5. QUOTE (son of a rude @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 01:43 AM) It's actually my favorite. It’s a bit of a stretch. You shouldn’t have to significantly alter the spelling of the name, unless you’re going to go for a nickname that’s completely different. Like Slayer.
  6. Brady Shoemaker went 1-3 with a 2-run homer. This Bristol team has a lot of fun kids to follow.
  7. I love Ken Griffey. Just a classy, talented guy. I recognize that he didn't contribute much to our team (barring his 1st game in KC, and Game 163), but i'm so thankful to have had him play for my team.
  8. Now, that's one hell of a WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!
  9. Wait, what happened? Gameday froze! We're f***ing leading? YES! HELL YES!!!
  10. Sad to see Danks give it all and his team give him nothing.
  11. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 11:55 PM) Just trying to lighten things up a bit, didn't mean to insult anyone... It’s okay, but you can’t make a get laid comment without suggestions as to where and how.
  12. Great night for Danks. Man up you offensive bastards.
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 11:52 PM) Not that I'm not very frustrated with this team too....but I think some people in this thread would be better served to take a game off and get laid... Wow, that comment is both productive and sure to add more civility to this thread. Nice, real nice.
  14. One hit? One f***ing hit? Against Doug Fister, Miggy Batista and Mark Lowe? This is amateur s***.
  15. That might have been Pods best read all season. Perfectly played.
  16. QUOTE (GordoTheGreat @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 10:22 PM) Gordo... What was he supposed to do on that play? Grow a longer arm?
  17. Both Dye and Konerko have slipped on their way out of the box.
  18. QUOTE (nastymasty21 @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 10:11 PM) haha carlos marmol blows The best arm in the league with the worst control to go along with it.
  19. QUOTE (GO CHI SOX! @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 09:54 PM) I thought Kenny was talking about Contreras ruffling his feathers. Out of context this quote sounds damning. In the interview, this quote wasn't directed at anyone in particular. It was an overall declaration about the state of the team.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 09:25 PM) I don't think he was on the juice. He was scouted. When you don't make contact, and don't take a ton of walks, and don't get many hits other than homers, unless your in a select few, your major league career is very brief. Spot on. This is why hitters like Fields and Chris Young don't realize sustained success at the major league level. They are flawed from the start, and are unable to make adjustments. You can’t teach patience.
