  1. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 04:28 PM) Let's taking bunting out period. Can i subscribe to your newsletter?
  2. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 12:17 PM) Per TheScore: Peavy threw 50 pitches and was pain free. . . Expect him to begin a rehab assignment as soon as next week down in the farm. Really? Because this is a lot faster of a timetable then the Padres ever had him on. If this is true, Peavy is going to be here sooner than a lot of us expected.
  3. Inge is still taking the field, but I’m hearing his knee is really hurting him. I’m not wishing anything bad on the guy, but it would be nice for the white Sox for the Inge situation to reach a head at some point.
  4. Encouraging news, Sounds like he’s right on schedule. I wonder if Coop will teach him the cutter (Green?)
  5. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 09:52 AM) Chet Lemon Rudy Law Lance Johnson Mike Cameron Aaron Rowand Brian Anderson All were good in CF. I fixed it. I'd argue the BA point, barring 2006, the team never felt the need to play him over inferior defensive options. Still the rest of your names are sound.
  6. Dan Hudson was number #3 on the Baseball America Prospect Hot Sheet for July 31st http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prosp...009/268625.html
  7. QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 09:27 AM) He's not up to CF defensively. I'm not saying the move is going to happen, but over the last decade, center field defense has never been an issue for this organization.
  8. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 12:45 AM) D'oh! I meant to mention something about him this time. That's a good idea. Trust me, i'm full of them.
  9. Fat Freddie goes 5, walks 1, K's 2.
  10. A more personal look on KW. Probably, one of the better articles Scoop Jackson has ever written. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/columns/...&id=4371601 KW has a manner about him that suggests the utmost confidence in his abilities. He’s got a great poker face to go along with his nickname “The Gambler.” It’s been said that to succeed in any facet of life, you need to take risks. And this what KW does so well. A lot of GM’s work the phone to win an absolutely win a trade; KW does it to win a title. Each and every call has a singular motivating factor behind it, right now; in the wake of this trade I can’t say enough positive things about KW. I know this will change, he’ll make mistakes, and he might even find a way to trade Brandon Allen again. Ultimately, none of that will matter to me, because I want my team to win. and if there’s anything KW knows how to do, winning is exactly that. "We're about to have some good times around here." Kenny Williams
  11. Jerry Reinsdorf had an interesting quite in an ESPN piece about the Peavy trade. This could just be something he threw out in passing, or just not as interesting as I’m making it out to be. "With Buehrle, Danks, Floyd and Peavy -- that's as good a four starters as you are going to see in baseball, probably," Reinsdorf said. "I'm sure we'll get a fifth starter to go along with them.” http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/news/story?id=4370522. Does this point to a move this year? Or simply the end of the Contreras era after this year, as many of us have predicted? I'm going with the former, right now.
  12. QUOTE (rockren @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 12:07 AM) Says that in his walk up song..."I just wanna use your love toniggghhttt" "You know i like my girls, a little bit older..." Whoa, wouldn't it be creepy if the whole Outfield song is some wish fulfillment thing for Beckham?
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 02:29 PM) Coop can fix him. Wouldn't that be a smack in Cubs fans' faces? This is the 1st thing I thought too. Only it was Coop followed by Herm. If we could sign the guy to a minimum deal and have him throw on the side, alter his mechanics, and abandon some pitches to alleviate stress on his shoulder/elbow, we could potentially have a steal. Then again this is exactly what the Padres thought, when they picked him up. So… who knows?
  14. Josh Fields 2-3 with a bomb. Flowers 2-4 with a double.
  15. I wouldn't mind seeing a decent write-up on CJ Retherford.
  16. QUOTE (Felix @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 09:07 PM) I believe the point he's making is that Podsednik actually hurts the team on the basepaths because he doesn't steal at a high rate, meaning by not stealing, Swisher doesn't cost the team outs (and ultimately runs). My point exactly. Thanks for the assist, Felix.
  17. QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 08:02 PM) Podsednik LF Beckham 3B Quentin RF Dye DH Konerko 1B Pierzynski C Ramirez SS Getz 2B (FA)* CF *This would be Willy Taveras-type speed/defense guy who struggles a bit to get on base. Why would we ever want this type of player on our roster?
  18. CR pitched really well tonight. Going to have a no decision, but still a pretty impressive debut.
  19. Regardless of what he said, Mark Kotsay is a man of mystery.
  20. QUOTE (Disco72 @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 07:36 PM) I thought it was "you get one hall pass, there you go" or something like that. Free Pass, maybe?
  21. QUOTE (3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 07:32 PM) What did Kotsay say before "but we'll let that one go" I think it was, ”you hit two doubles, and a (inaudible). We’ll let that one go.”
