  1. Williams looked really good tonight. He’s not a long-term solution but he could be a decent LOOGY stop-gap.
  2. QUOTE (JDsDirtySox @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 11:52 PM) does this move end up costing Juan Uribe his job in the big leagues? Nah, he’s still a better option then Velez off the bench. He was actually playing decently at 2b, making a Sanchez for Alderson trade all the more absurd.
  3. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 11:32 PM) and again stubborn ozzie decides to play nix at SS instead of beckham who is a natural SS.....im so sick of ozzie Nix is more then capable of playing any infield position. He’ll play them well too.
  4. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 10:58 PM) What is he going to realistically replace? Pods (we've been trying to get a stud CF for awhile). Getz (Not a lot of really big 2nd base upgrades out there). I'm just not sure who else you can replace on offense at this point. I say we trade for Cody Ross and a young, project pitcher. A Coop Can Fix 'Em type guy.
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 10:53 PM) Watched more of Cards/Dodgers than Sox game tonight. First time I sat and watched Kershaw since he faced us last year. Holy cow, his off speed pitches are nasty. Why would the Dodgers ever consider trading that guy? Kershaw's Curveball makes actual angels cry. True story.
  6. No need to fire KW. He makes mistakes, but when he hits the target, he hits it hard. I’m going to catch a lot of s*** for this, and I’ll warrant that a lot of it’s going to be deserved, but I wouldn’t mind seeing what Manny Acta could do with a decent GM running his team and gameplan. I’m not saying fire Ozzie. I love Ozzie, but sometimes the mind does wander….
  7. We're not dead yet. We're getting there, but there's got to be more fight in these guys.
  8. We need to take pitches, and put ourselves into a position to get good pitches to hit. When we get them, hit 'em. No need to steal, no need to bunt.
  9. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 10:47 PM) honestly do you buy right now if you are KW? How can you sit status quo, im more toward selling Mix of both. Get younger, but fill the holes.
  10. QUOTE (Baines3 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 10:46 PM) What in the world do we have to do to win a game in that place. Focus. Don't let the damn Metro curse even enter into our minds. Stop playing like the damn Cubs do in the playoffs.
  11. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 10:44 PM) Kotsay has a decent line-drive swing. IF he goes for the hit we have a chance. A homer? We're done. i f***ing called it too. Damn
  12. Kotsay has a decent line-drive swing. IF he goes for the hit we have a chance. A homer? We're done.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 10:40 PM) If hitting only was as simple as you make it. That pitch was in the strike zone. At the knees. Want simple? See the ball, hit the ball.
  14. Getz is going to double into the gap. Scoring two.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 10:37 PM) That pitch was unhittable. No pitch is unhittable unless it's bounced or goes overs the catcher's head. JD just got fooled.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 10:37 PM) If we don't score here, at least we can say this was Jenks' best series since well before the All-Star Break. . His numbers are flawless.
  17. I get the same feeling from Beckham, right now, as i did from watching Josh Hamilton last year. All this potential being realized, right in front of our eyes.
  18. Gordon Beckham is the best pure hitter i've seen in a while
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 10:27 PM) Pena has looked pretty good lately. Maybe he's settling in. Its can't be easy being traded for a future HOFer. Sigh. Here's the point Here's You. I believe you missed something.
  20. What can one say after seeing the same thing night in and night out?
