  1. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 09:10 PM) Oh. ok. Aside from THE CATCH, he's a worthless good for nothing who has no place in major league baseball. Better? Who you mean this guy? http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/w/wisede01.shtml The facts are these: Dewayne Wise made a fantastic catch today, I’ll always remember and appreciate him for this moment that’s going to be etched into my White Sox fandom for the rest of my life, but other than that what is it that’s he given to this team? An OBP of .243? AN OPS of .562? Ultimately, we have a guy who's on pace to hit .211 for us and strikeout 96 more times than he walks. We should all thank Dewayne Wise for what he’s given to us today, but that doesn’t mean we should let ourselves forget just what kind of ball player he is. Ultimately, maybe his value will come for 1 or 2 innings on the fields, if that’s the case, we should hope Wise has more of these catches in him.
  2. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 07:01 PM) Perhaps we've been a bit harsh. Why? We've judged him by his play on the field. Which, apart from today, has been very very bad.
  3. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 08:29 PM) Holmberg with a solid 4 inning start for the BriSox Great sign from both Holmberg and the organization. The kid's future is in a rotation.
  4. Wise just finished up. Decent interview, pretty humble.
  5. Not really motivated towards positive or negative emotion on this one. Hopefully, Torres goes down and starts throwing more strikes. Hopefully, Colon doesn't suck.
  6. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 06:22 PM) It has nothing to do with Anderson, they moved Matt Zaleski up to Charlotte in his place. I stand corrected. This move looks even worse in this light. No one's saying David Cook is a great player, he isn't however, an AA one
  7. The Rays are one of the classiest organizations in all of baseball. They gave Buehrle a round of applause, immediately following the final out. Buehrle, being Buehrle, bowed to them.
  8. This is without a doubt the best day of Dewayne Wises' life. Unless, he really likes his children, does he have children?
  9. That's a b**** move. What does Cook have left to do in AA? Charlotte is awful, just let him play. Seriously, this is BA's fault.
  10. Buehrle was on the mound for less than 30 minutes. That's nothing short of incredible.
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 05:10 PM) Betancourt to Colorado. No more human rain delays. Thank god, he's out of the division. There are a lot of horrible things i've considered doing to myself in between watching him pitch
  12. He gets a break today, that catch was incredible, but he needs to contribute in other areas. No one gets a free pass, not even today.
  13. Good for BA. He should be traded. He needs a fresh start/
  14. I came home from work, exhausted and hurting, I turn on the TV, and the 1st thing I see is the ESPN Lead. I don’t think words can express what I’m feeling right now. Euphoric, jovial, and I didn’t even see the damn game. I need to just thank Mark Buehrle for everything, what’s he gave today, what he’s given for this team, this organization, and the city of Chicago. Something is very evident today, if it wasn’t before we are seeing the best pitcher in White Sox history and he will carry this memory with him to Cooperstown. Mark Buerhrle has left us with a lot of things, today he left me with a smile.
  15. QUOTE (GO CHI SOX! @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 01:22 AM) Yunel Escobar. Could this city handle the Cuban Connection? That would be a heck of a sigh to see.
  16. I wouldn't have booed him either, but i understand the mentality of a fan that does.
  17. Bobby’s pitched erratically this entire month, he blew a game that we should have won yesterday, boos are absolutely understandable.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 01:03 AM) Forgot about Garland. He's throwing the ball pretty well now, but I want nothing to do with him. If KW trades for a starter, it needs to be someone we know is an upgrade over our 5 main guys. I completely agree with you. Garland doesn’t have it anymore, he pitches to contact, and his peripherals are on a disturbing decline.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 12:59 AM) According to tomorrow's Tribune, the Diamondbacks had scouts at our game today. The clubs obviously know a lot about each other. Not sure who KW would be interested in on Arizona (Haren's going nowhere). They have this 1b in AAA that i really like. Honestly, i could see us looking into one of their middle relievers, with KW looking to send either Dotel or Linebrink to another team. There's always Garland too.
  20. Before i remembered his shoulder surgeries i was thinking Kelly Johnson due to the emergence of Martin Prado. I put him in CF, at first, but he can't make the throw anymore. As for 2b, i just get the impression that we like what Getz is doing, i would never rule out a move though. I agree thatHanson, Heyward, Jurrjens are untouchable. I wonder about their slighly less prospects like Freddie Freeman and Kris Medlen.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 12:51 AM) Rockies are making a big trade, as they pulled their top pitching prospect from his start tonight (according to MLBTR) They're trading Chacin? No way.
  22. Allen hit another bomb tonight. That's his 6th in a 11 games. Look like a september call-up for the D-Backs.
  23. Kroeger with a two-run bomb, been on a bit of a tear recently.
  24. I love prospect/draft analysis and this was really well done. I hope to see more of this in the future.
