Filming on the last Two Potter movies has already begun. David Yate’s, the guy who directed Potter 5 and 6, is doing them.
  2. Palin skewers Obama’s Cap and Trade plan in op-ed. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...1302852_pf.html Media works feverishly on ways to discredit her.
  3. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 05:55 PM) I would be moreso, but it turned out to kind of work out after CQ got hurt. I’m actually proud from a fan perspective to say that Ken Griffey JR played for my team. He wasn’t great, but he’s wasn’t awful.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 11:45 AM) Beats me. This is the first time I've ever read any Captain America. Guy at the local comic shop recommended this to me. Digging it so far. Good to see you're a fellow comic book guy, Sqwert.

QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 01:22 PM) Harry Potter tonight, hell yes I’m so damn psyched for this movie that I’ve considered pushing my friends to go to a midnight showing. The eight months thing killed me, I’m not a full-on Harry Potter nerd, but I’ve enjoyed the books and consider the 3rd and 5th movies to be amongst my favorites. On the opposite end, I absolutely hated the 2nd film.
  6. IF initial talks included Floyd, Beckham and Alexei then this deal was dead before it even got off the ground.
  7. Went to a Jackson Browne concert yesterday. The voice is still there, and the show was pretty good, ultimately, I was a bit put-off by song selection and overuse of backup singers.
  8. QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 05:48 PM) If you put Beckham where do you put Getz? He has played well enough to be an everyday player. Getz is either super-utility or trade bait. I wouldn't mind either.
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 04:55 PM) August 1st is tentatively going to be a huge day for FutureSox.com Don't get me all worked up like that guys.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 01:54 PM) Teahen=Joe Randa Lite with more versatility but less RBI punch I remember when he was drafted the A's thought he'd be the next Jason Giambi. He was a guy whose power was supposed to come along with more development. It's never really happened, but he has turned into a very valuable guy.
  11. QUOTE (Cowch @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 04:53 PM) Which prospects do you think are touchable/untouchable at this point? No one is untouchable. Flowers, Viciedo and Danks are close.
  12. I'd love to have a guy like Teahen on the team. Ideally, two mid-level prospects would be enough to net him.
  13. We're buying. We'll be pretty agressive about it too. Book it.
  14. I imagine Manny Acta will be the next Oakland A's manager. He needs to go to a team that's suits his strategic mindest.
  15. Does anyone else have an impending sense of… not doom… just… change? I honestly think something relativity dramatic is going to happen to this team, sooner rather than later.
  16. Flowers is really sure of himself, confident in his abilites. He's made enormous strides this season and has deserved every promotion he's gotten. This moves up his ETA by at least a couple of months if not sooner.
  17. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 09:03 PM) Flowers to Triple-A, apparently. http://mlb.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?content_id=5565195 Wow, bit of a suprise. I imagine this'll be the end of Donny Lucy.
  18. David Holmberg is a 6-foot-4, 220-pound left-handed pitcher out of Port Charlotte (Fla.) High School, who is pitching for the advanced rookie Bristol team. By all accounts, David Holmberg was one of the premier High School pitchers to come out of Florida in the last decade. The White Sox drafted him with the 71st overall pick in the second round of the 2009 MLB Draft. Stuff: Holmberg doesn't have an over-powering fastball, but both the fastball and the slider feature good movement; he also has a developing curve and change. He’s also taken to throwing an occasional Cutter. “Bruglio saw a tall, lanky freshman who threw 78 miles per hour transform into a solid pitcher who hits 92 to 93 on the radar guns. Adding miles-per-hour to his fastball was only part of Holmberg's development. He throws five pitches -- fastball, curve, slider, changeup and occasionally a cut fastball. "His fastball effectiveness is the basis of everything else he does," Bruglio said. "He knows how to set up hitters." That effectiveness has led to more than looks from major league scouts” Makeup: "One scout who has seen him pitch four times this season says Holmberg "knows what he's doing on the mound. "When he gets in trouble, he kicks it up a little. He makes pitches when he needs to make them." The scout said Holmberg has a major league fastball and slider. His curve is good and changeup good to fair. "He's a total work in progress," the scout said. "He's not refined yet."" http://www.heraldtribune.com/article/20090...37&tc=yahoo Holmberg went 7-0 with a 0.22 ERA during his senior season of high school, allowing just two earned runs during the year. He struck out 132 batters while walking 23. Opponents batted .118 off of Holmberg, who did not allow any home runs this season. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...sp&c_id=cws Personal Opinion: I love this kid. I love his makeup, his stuff, and I love the attitude he has when he takes the mound. I see him overcoming his initial struggles and becoming one of our better pitching prospects, with an ETA around 2013.
  19. All Dayan needs to do is hit. I'll take a few errors for him to reach his offensive potential.
  20. Cook and Lillibridge homer. TCG goes 1-4 with a 2-run double. Marquez gets the win with a respectable outing.
  21. Flowers looks really different then when i saw him in spring. How much weight has he lost?
  22. We're going to take this divison by about 2.5 games. Beckham's going to continue to hit himself into ROY contention, Poreda'll pitch well, and KW's going to make a ballsy move. Those are my predictions.
  23. Yeah, this turned out to be pretty s***ty.
