  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 12:13 PM) How's his attitude? That was supposedly at least some concern when he was playing in Cuba? Hard to tell, i imagine. When the kid can't speak english. His work ethic is more of a concern.
  2. I'm almost as excited for this one as i am for the Sox game. Can't wait to see Flowers in action.
  3. QUOTE (beautox @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 02:33 AM) lol Earl Weaver breaking it down on "managers corner" NSFW I love that man. Ozzie's a very similiar kind of guy only without a lot of the strategic sensibilities.
  4. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 04:35 AM) I'd rather watch the game on TV... then to ever down a cubs hat. I just can't sell out that way, but that's just me. I'd do it, i'm pretty confident in my White sox fanhood. I'd make any sacrifice to watch them in the series again.
  5. QUOTE (qwerty @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 03:03 AM) Capps is a very good reliever, definitely does not blow. If we look at just this year, sure, he sucks. He has a very straight fastball, with decent velocity behind it, other than that he fails bring much to the table.

    QUOTE (The Bones @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 02:35 PM)
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 12:49 AM) He's not even a top 50 prospect according to BA. Trust me, Brian Anderson has a long list of potential clients before he'll even begin to think about switching over to men.
  8. QUOTE (YASNY @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 12:32 AM) Crede may not be the player he once was, and he wasn't great with us by any means. But the man played a huge role in the stretch and post season run in 2005 and I believe he deserves a bit more respect than just saying he sucks. I love Dye, but I’ll contend there’s a strong case to be made for Crede being the World Series MVP.
  9. Dan Hudson got to be one of our best pitching prospects to come through this system in a couple years. I loved watching Poreda make his way up, and who can forget the domination of B-Mac, but Hudson's done a hell of a job since his draft year.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 12:20 AM) That's a team that has no chance to compete in the 2nd half, and would really hurt their future if they traded young guys for rentals. Agreed, i'd be interested to see what Drew Stubbs can do too.
  11. Jay Bruce just went out for six weeks with a wrist injury. IF the Reds weren't looking hard to get a bat before, they sure as hell are now.
  12. Great to see the Sox finally moved McCulloch to the pen. About time.
  13. Game nearly game me a heart attack, but a win’s a win. Three cheers to Bacon Slayer, Thome and BA.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 07:24 PM) Brad Radke to Twins >>>> Joe Crede to White Sox Did Brad Radke help his team win a World Series? No? Wrong.
  15. Thank god we could delay this game for a tribute to Brad Radke.
  16. I enjoy how much some people in the media are harping about the Twin's awesome bunting prowess when it's clear that walking and actually getting on base did the most egregious harm to the White Sox.
  17. QUOTE (beautox @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 05:18 PM) thinking more about the pirates turing down the marlins for hermida, I think it just makes sense to get him and put him in LF and take it easy with quentin, if he comes back and tears it up awesome, then we've got a great problem on our hands, but if he comes back and hurts himself i would still prefer we have someone like hermida ready to step in, and keep the production in the outfield with hermida, podsednik and dye I'm taking Pods being in center, for now and Wise playing LF as a strong sign that Q is expected back sooner rather than later.
  18. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 02:06 PM) I like Wise, but he is way under performing. No, he isn’t. This is exactly what he’s done his entire career. He’s terrible.
  19. Nice work here, Heads. This looks like one of the more interesting draft classes we've had in a while.
  20. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 11:51 AM) ROY candidate maybe? Rick Porcello, Second-half Wieters and Beckham, and Ricky Romero say no.
  21. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 02:36 AM) The upside of Cortes is a setup man and the odds of that seem lower than they did. I don't think he's worth getting up in arms. You seem to underestimate just how bad of a baseball player Betancourt is. Fangraphs has his value as -3.6 million dollars. He’s the worst fielder in all of baseball and arguably the worst everyday player as well. This was a genius salary dump by the Mariners and they got some nice arms too.
  22. This is one of the many reasons that Kenny Williams is the White Sox GM. We could have this guy, here's an actual quote from Met's Gm Omar Minaya: "One thing we like about Francoeur is the amount of games that he plays."
  23. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 01:27 AM) Brandon Allen was 2-4, HR, 3 RBIs for the Reno Aces. I expect things will only look worse from here. I'll miss the kid hopefully, Flowers and Phegley will hit enough to make us all forget about Brandon Allen.
  24. A NO NO! Wow. That'll increase your trade value, huh?
  25. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 12:09 AM) I thought we should have traded Thornton a month ago, when he was pitching like the best lefty reliever in the league. But didn't we just trade for a reliever - and at a pretty decent price? Wait, so Thornton gives up a base hit and he's done?
