Did Obama really just give up a third of our nukes to Russia without running it by the Senate?

Heh, Indians broadcast just had a shot of KW and he looked slightly constipated. The search for Colon must be getting to him. -

Minor League Catch-All thread 2009 edition
ThunderBolt replied to southsider2k5's topic in FutureSox Board
Can I just say that Future Sox has shown an incredible upgrade in terms of quality over the last two months. It's hard to believe that the site was pretty much dead just a few months ago. In terms of quality of writing and reporting each and every one of you guys is doing top-flight work. -

White Sox Acquire RP Tony Pena from ARI for Brandon Allen

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 05:56 PM) But, in all fairness, if you had to re-rank him or Shelby III at the time of the trade, they'd both fallen quite a bit, true? A bit yes, but not a precipitous plummet for either player. Shelby’s falloff being more significant then Allen’s. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 05:43 PM) Brandon Allen was never viewed by anybody (Baseball America, Baseball Prospectus, MILB.com) as a top prospect. Brandon Allen was #99 0n Baseball Prospectus' Top 100. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=8506 John Sickels had him in his top 100 picture, he also had him ranked 4th amongst our prospects http://www.minorleagueball.com/2008/12/22/...te-sox-top-20-p http://www.minorleagueball.com/2008/9/17/6...rospect-brandon Prospect Rankings* 2009 - #4 ranked for CHW http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prosp...009/267205.html *According to Baseball America Brandon Allen was more then relevant to any prospect buff. Be more constructive with your feedback, please. -
QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 05:33 PM) Carlos Gomez will still be in the league in three years time? I forgot to mention when and where this game takes place, he’ll be a September call up for the Royals
-
I expect to see some very good things from Jared Mitchell over the next couple of years. I can see it now....Three years from now, Hawk. "Little Carlos Gomez at the plate, Hell of a player, right there, hits the ball sharply to right field, sinking, uh-oh HE WENT TO JARED!!!! YES! HELL YES! What a catch by The (insert slightly clever nickname.)"

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 10:01 AM) Any love for Wilco (the Band), (the Album) or (the Song) here? Ever since I heard their music described as "dad rock," I've been hesitant to confess my complete adoration. I think the new album is solid, in that it rocks out more than Sky Blue Sky. Favorite tracks after a couple spins: Wilco (the Song), Bull Black Nova, You Never Know, I'll Fight. Also just picked up their new concert DVD, "Ashes of American Flags." Looking forward to watching it this weekend. I love Wilco. My brother got me into them, but yeah, they're one of my favorite bands. New album is pretty good, i have a slight problem with I'll Fight sounding very much like On and On and On from Sky Blue Sky, with Wilco (The Song) and Deeper Down being the highlights of the album

QUOTE (wilmot825 @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 01:54 PM) P.S. for those who are curious about Bacon....Currently playing on his iPod "Your Love" http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/extr...grid/index.html I’m honestly starting to think that this is the only song he has on his I-pod.

I’m really conflicted about this Beckham and Halladay talk. I don’t think it will happen, but hypothetically if we did trade Beckham…. Ever, I’d be a bit torn up. And i like Roy Halladay too.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 03:44 PM) Aaron Poreda...? No reason not to start Poreda over Carassco. Ultimately, while I’m really impressed with what Carassco had done for us over the last year and a half, there have been significant periods in his career where exposing him too much has led to him being hit around. He's definitely valuable for 2 to 3 innings, but I’d prefer to see what we've got in Poreda then take a chance on that. I'm feeling a bit better about the trade today, still dissapointed, but happy in the knowledge that we have the best damn bullpen in the game. -

QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 01:21 AM) I understand the complaints, but I don't have to agree with them. Exactly, this is true for both sides of the debate. I for one never thought Allen would be a superstar, but I did see a lot of potential in him, and it pains me to learn that he'll either reach it or fall short of it with another organization. At the same time, this is what being a White Sox fan is, like it or not, we have a GM who’s not afraid of taking these risks. A couple of these risks brought us a World Series. So, tomorrow I’ll wake up and be fine with the knowledge that this is what KW thinks he needs to do to improve this team, but for now you can't begrudge a guy for wishing we got just a bit more for Brandon Allen. -
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 11:50 PM) I was being tastefully unclear. Too much information would be if I said I meant my penis, which is exactly what I meant.

QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 12:29 AM) Meh, this sounds like a case of a prospect getting too hyped up but certain people and web sites. Besides, power hitting first baseman are pretty easy to come by. I like this move considering Linebrick has shown he is consistently awful in the second half. I thought the reason that we all loved Allen was because he wasn’t just a power hitting 1b. The guy was a great athlete, with decent speed and a good glove. How is it that 24 hours ago, we had a decent consensus on the kid, and now that he’s been traded for a RP, half the board feels the need to turn on him? Are we that desperate to justify something we can't fully understand? I understand that some people like the move, its okay, but no need to act like those who don't are illogical for holding an opinion. -
QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 11:31 PM) Not Lincecum because his delivery still scares me. There's an arguement to be made that Tiny Tim's delivery is the most fundamentally sound delivery in the game.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 11:27 PM) Even Rongey's trying to sell this based on the improvement Thornton made after he came to the Sox. Matt Thornton was a first round pick, who found his true potential by converting to relief and working with Don Cooper. Tony Pena was signed as an amateur free agent, and crafted into the pitcher he is now.
