  1. While I really appreciate what The Count is doing for us, I think an extensions is out of the question, if anything a trade is more likely. KW and Ozzie are working to establish a young pitching core and I don’t think Contreras fits into those plans long-term even as a 5.
  2. This is all kinds of suck. Rose is going to be a different maker, but Ben Gordon was a hell of an insurance policy. This puts a lot more pressure on Deng and Thomas then I think anyone wanted.
  3. I think Larussa is a moron, but i have a lot of respect for the other three mentioned. I never put much stock in an SI poll.
  4. Chapman has filthy stuff. Coop can fix 'em. If we can sign him for a reasonable value, we need to sign him. No way around it.
  5. This was probably our best player series of the year. Some great contributions from almost everyone, and while I love what Beckham’s been doing, I think a guy whose flying a bit under the radar here is Chris Getz. He’s taken some dramatic steps in refining his approach, and while ultimately, I don’t think his future is as an everyday starter for this team I see him as a solid big leaguer.
  6. I think this is the type of output we’ll be getting from Beckham on a consistent basis. He’s just been outstanding.
  7. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 29, 2009 -> 11:49 PM) It's a 2-0 game in the top of the 9th.... why the f*** would he purposely hit two batters? He's got a great arm but has really no control right now. Am I pissed, yes. Do I want to see someone on the Indians hit tomorrow, yes. But I don't blame Perez for hitting Alexei and Dye at all, it was clearly accidental. I think you’re right, Bear Sox. Especially, given the circumstances of the game and Perez’s’ minor league track record. It was a bit dodgy after the Wedge freak out though.
  8. I really like the Teahen line of thinking. Nice mix of solid utility and unfufilled potential.
  9. I didn’t see all of the game, but am I right in thinking that Chris Perez is a punk? The Alexei pitch was questionable, what happened to Dye even more so. Oh, and Beckham f***ing rocks!!!
  10. QUOTE (joejoedairy @ Jun 28, 2009 -> 08:43 PM) college is basically professional everyone knows shaq got rich playing in college Thank god, I got caught by the semantics police. He’s played baseball all of his life, he’s played well, I don’t expect that to change. Okay?
  11. I can’t think of a scenario where Phegley does anything but hit the hell out of the ball for the rest of the year. It’s what he’s done his entire professional career. Honestly, I see him starting at AA to begin next year.
  12. Danks might not rhyme with Ace, but it’s damn close enough. I don’t know when that change went from plus to phenomenal, but it’s incredible now.
  13. Little late to the party, but our boy was named MOP of the CWS. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writ...tml?eref=sihpT1
  14. QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 08:58 PM) Holmberg pitched a very ugly inning, but didn't give up a run. I’m sending my computer to get fixed, so whatever computer time I will have will be brief and likely spent here. Hopefully, I’ll have enough research done to get Holmberg’s AAP up sometime within the next two weeks. Regardless, I love the kid’s stuff, and imagine he’ll overcome any initial struggles and start to pitch his ass off.
  15. Brewer's Jeffress gets 100-game suspension http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/49267777.html. So... that's not happening.
  16. I was just watching my 2005 DVD's and after seeing what Scotty's doing now... There are times when i'm about ready to let him play till he keels over from old age in CF.
  17. Corky Miller traded? For a younger D-Wheezey? NOOO/ Slightly blasé.
  18. God, this was killing me. Great to have it back.
  19. Nice shot in the balls to the Cubs by the Cards. Cards should stay in the race for a bit, but ultimately, the Cubs and the Brewers are the better teams. We’ll see how far Dave Duncan can take them.
  20. Got to write this real quick (in a lobby of a hotel on vacation) very happy to hear about another White Sox series win, but even happier to hear about Poreda’s first MLB win. Hopefully, this is not only the first of many but the first step In establishing trust with Ozzie.
  21. Just to update one of the debates we were having. Homer Bailey had another great outing 7 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 8 K his numbers in June are” 4-0, 38.1 IP, 30 H, 2 ER, 1 HR, 7 BB, 38 K For an era of 0.47
  22. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 22, 2009 -> 11:20 PM) His game meaning a very raw college 2-sport athlete with not much experience in the game, or the guy you watched one game of and then correlated it with fairly meaningless college stats? You’re asking this to a guy who b****ed about the kid taking a 5-pitch walk with runners on base?
  23. Barons lose 3-2. Shirek was okay, giving up too many hits, but escaping a lot of the damage. Another nice showing from Nunez in relief.
  24. I’m starting to see what Laumann and the scouts saw in this kid, and I really like it. That triple was flat-out amazing. His raw speed is insane.
  25. Fantastic game tonight. The Cubs look like they have a really nice player in the LSU 2b.
