  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 10:26 PM) Jeff Passan's trade deadline winners and losers (guess who was one of the losers?):http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=jp-tradewinnerslosers073110 I can't argue with any of that. We failed to address our most pressing need.
  2. CarGo finishes off a cyle with a walk-off blast against Marshall.
  3. Lillibridge is pretty philosophical about this whole trade deadline thing. @BSLillibridge The trade deadline reminds me of the night before a test. You wait until the night before than cram your ***** off. about 5 hours ago http://twitter.com/BSLillibridge
  4. QUOTE (Real @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 07:34 PM) Yeah, he can't work on two guys at once. Unthinkable I mean that to be read as sarcastic. I should have gone with green font.
  5. QUOTE (Real @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 07:30 PM) Danks loses his changeup about once every 3-4 outings, Coop needs to do something about it He should probably focus on fixing Edwin Jackson instead.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 07:22 PM) Twins scored on King Felix already. Their offense is insane right now. Just wait till they get Morneau back too.
  7. Mercifully, Kotsay is not in the lineup tonight. That would have rubbed salt in the wound. All in all not a terrible lineup though.
  8. God, this really is a huge package. I couldn't believe it when i heard it.
  9. Berkman made the right choice. Sucks for us, but it's true.
  10. A team with a lot of determination, a crafty GM, some promising young stars. and an idiot for a manager.
  11. Playing the optimist: Jackson has nasty stuff that is arguably the best on the staff. He was an uber-prospect, on par with Floyd and Danks, and if Coop could turn him around we'd have a hell of a weapon. This is a guy who has the potential to throw Sergio Santos-like stuff for seven innings. Unfortunately, he's yet to realize that potential. Here’s hoping he does.
  12. Everything I could possible say here has been said a lot more succinctly then I could have put it. To reiterate the points would only serve to frustrate and I have no intention of doing that. Simply put: I’m disappointed. I’m not giving up on this team; I just think that certain adjustments need to be made now. Namely, the installation of Dayan Viciedo as the permanent DH on this team. A lot of my concerns can be addressed right here: dump Kotsay when Teahen gets back,
  13. I've got to take off. When i come back you people better be pushing 75+ pages about an awesome bat we got.
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:41 PM) Well, they did just trade for Chad Qualls so their list of available prospects has shortened Good point. And i think i stand correct to my earlier point about the Rays having the true advantage. When it comes to money, which does appear to be a huge deal for the Dodgers, we do have the advantage.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:40 PM) What's Dunn's UZR at DH? i actually went to fangraphs to look this up and then I read the post again. I’m an idiot.
  16. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:39 PM) Ditto. And what's the deal with Manny? He on the DL right now? Why the hell would we even want him so we could platoon him with Kotsay? Ugh. I'll pass. We got Peavy when he was on the DL too.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:38 PM) I'd rather have Viciedo than Manny for the remainder of this season. And on into the future.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:35 PM) If Viciedo plays regularly for the rest of the season (which will never happen), he'll be back. By the way, what happened to kennyhatesprospects? I don't know. I haven't seen him around since the team was mired in hell about three months back.
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:34 PM) Rays and White Sox going for the same things That's a battle that the Rays have an advantage in. We just have to hope that our assets fit their needs a little better.
  20. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:30 PM) but we would lose a valuable member of the site! We lost Cubano for Chapman, i don't know if we can afford to lose Bren for Manny.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:27 PM) Doesn't mean i'm not going to bash him for being a juicer. I hate the guy too, Balta. I’m just getting desperate enough to make excuses for him.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:20 PM) They will care if he runs out of needles. I imagine he's offf his cyle by now. The injuries imply it, but the numbers are still there. I'm willing to take the risk, if the asking price isn't too high.
  23. Manny can still hit and get on-base. He's be a huge addition to this ballclub. I'm going to paraphrase a nice point that was brought up in the Brett Myers discussion, "no one is going to care if he's an angel, if he's batting cleanup for the Sox in the 2nd round of the playoffs."
