  1. Fantastic game tonight. The Cubs look like they have a really nice player in the LSU 2b.
  2. Link was hit around a bit, but they locked it down. Nice win for Charlotte as The Brandon Allen Good Times Tour continues.
  3. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 22, 2009 -> 12:02 PM) If you do go the player profile route, for each player don't just tell us stats. Tell us the player's talents and weaknesses. When I'm trying to learn about our system, I want to know how hard the guy is throwing and what his offspeeds are. If a guy is raking I want to know if he can field or if he has more power potential, etc. I usually look for that type of thing in the AAPs here, but oftentimes its just statistics. Along those lines throw in some player comparisons, give us upside, potential. You guys are talented enough to make these assessments; you're already doing a great job.
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 22, 2009 -> 11:19 AM) You actually have him in a fantasy league...? I have him as a backup. Zobrist is starting at SS and Wright is at 3b. So, anytime they're off i can just plug Beckham in and be a White Sox fanboy. I dropped Theriot for him too, so that's a White Sox Winner. Beckham's only going to get better as the year goes on.
  5. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 02:19 AM) Where's this massive track record of Swisher's? Swisher's career line of .244/.357/.456 is far from impressive. Kevin Millar has a better line than that. So does Matt Stairs. So does Trot Nixon. Maybe he's not miserable but he's not very good either. I don't want that dude on my team. He's a guy who can play league-average CF, and be a plus on the corners and at 1b. Who has a career OBP of .356 and averages 24 HRS and 86 RBI's. That's not miserable, that's not bad, and he's been doing this for years.
  6. I hope the Cubs destroy the Kitties.
  7. Marquez induced 12 groundouts. Could this be the vaunted Garland-sinker we’ve been hearing about?
  8. I’m intimidated by change. This Is why I voted for McCain in 08. This is like the digital transition. WHY DIDN”T ANYBODY WARN ME!!!!
  9. This is Ozzie’s criteria for getting Wise in the lineup. God, I hope three hits in the week doesn’t entail a hot streak. " Dewayne Wise wants more at-bats? Sox manager Ozzie Guillen offered a way for the outfielder to reach that goal. “ For some reason, I like this guy in the lineup,” Guillen said. “(Saturday,) he stole a base, he can run from first to third, he can do a lot of stuff. But I can’t get swinging at balls bouncing at the plate and (crap) every other pitch. He’s got to give me better at-bats. You want to play more often, get more at-bats? Give me better at-bats.” http://www.southtownstar.com/sports/163320...soxntbk.article
  10. Great win tonight. Got home in time to see the bottom 9, but it’s great to hear about the further integration of Gordon Beckham into the big league roster.
  11. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jun 21, 2009 -> 12:59 AM) I think Ramirez's season last year may have put some unrealistic expectations on Viciedo coming into this season. I think the scouts and the beat writers might have put those expectations on the kid. After all, the first real reports we had on the kid had the words “Cuban Babe Ruth” as a primary piece.

    Films Thread

Saw Snakes on a Plane tonight. It was entertaining, by no means was it a good film, but massively entertaining.
  13. He and Cook should be competing to take Negron's job up in AAA.
  14. Phillips is making improvements, but more times then not he takes the AJ Pierzsynski approach to the plate. He’s very aggressive and that can be both a gift and a curse for the guy.
  15. Brandon Allen went 1-4 tonight. Adam Russell with a nice line. Charlotte loses 5-1 Player IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA Russell 1.1 0 0 0 0 3 0 3.72
  16. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 11:47 PM) I really like Brandon Phillips, he's a good ball player. If he ever learned to take a pitch, he'd be elite.
  17. Fantastic debut for Hudson. The kid can flat-out deal.
  18. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 08:41 PM) do you think Wise even cares? I mean...did you see the pitch he swung at? The manager's given him a free pass. He can do whatever he wants.
  19. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 08:39 PM) Wise, you blow. The Reds fans that caught that home run ball seem happy, smart fans apparently. Shame, they weren't idiot Cubs fans. Would of made getting the ball back easier.
  20. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 08:28 PM) lets see Poreda. Thread Winner. Let's do it.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 08:26 PM) No way...how about we play people at the positions they actually are playing in the minors? This is the worst we've looked all year. Richard seems fatigued, as his fastball is way down compared to how he was a month ago. I just don't see us playing Pods or BA for the rest of the year. And we are fastracking Allen. I think his final destination is 1b, but i don't see us trading Paulie yet.
