  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 08:24 PM) Seriously, just wait about 10 more days. KW won't do it before the Cubs series. However, please just shut CQ down for the season. Think we'd try Allen in LF?
  2. What is going on here? Can we catch? Can we field? Can we hit?
  3. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 08:14 PM) Hawk has been absolutely insane lately. I am obviously not watching the game today so i dont know what he is talking about but they have been ripping him on the Score 670 the past couple days. Radio hosts and fans seem to be tired of his act. Hawk appears to be going through an episode, things could get Ron Santo bad if the team gets any worse.
  4. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 06:34 PM) I'd do it... at least Willits can play above average D in the outfield. Yes, because an OF with no pop is exactly what the Cell demands. How is it that you can hate Brandon Wood, but love Ryan Sweeney and Reggie Willits? Now, I’m not saying that Dotel and Poreda for Wood aren’t ridiculous, because it really is, but I wouldn’t be averse to structuring a deal.
  5. Hope I’m not interrupting Shipps’ schizophrenic episode. We better hope we can come back here and win it tomorrow, because next week is going to suck for us.
  6. That is an insane amount of value for Mat Gamel. You could probably get two decent prospects each from Jenks and Contreras alone. You throw in Jeffress maybe you have a deal, but as good as Gamel could be this is not a fair return
  7. Bad debut for Omogrosso IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA 2.0 4 4 4 1 1 0 18.00
  8. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 10:22 PM) Today was yet another game where a weak bench was the downfall of this team. Never fear, Brandon Allen will soon be here.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 09:24 PM) There's no doubt in my mind we're going to see Allen up with the big league club sooner rather than later (due to injury or trade). With the team rapidly playing itself out of contention, I think you’re correct. About a month ago, I’d have given Brandon Allen a 45% of being the big league club this season, at this point, that’s increased to about 65%.
  10. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 08:55 PM) Gartrell hit a 2-run homer in the 9th to win it for Birmingham. Destiny thy has a team. It's amazing how consistent this team is with all the changes they've been experiencing.
  11. Mitchell hit an opposite field homerun today. I love his approach at the plate. He takes pitches, and looks to drive the ball.
  12. QUOTE (Wanne @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 12:58 PM) Kole Calhoun has been a friggin' best this CWS. You can tell he can't wait to get to the plate now. Maybe it was his interview with Erin Andrews? lol... He's in the C.J Retherford mold. The kid hit well enough at ASU to make what he's doing in the CWS impressive, but not extraordinary, and he wasn't even drafted.
  13. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 12:49 PM) Both can actually field and hit at the major league level. In fact, I'd love to get Maicer Izturis on this team, he's a really good ball player. Once again explain to me how there is enough evidence to categorically say that Brandon Wood cannot hit or field at a major league level. Also, Erick Aybar's career OBP is .303. That's not exactly what you want for a a guy with no pop.
  14. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 12:28 PM) The Angels have been hyping up Wood for the past 5 years and he hasn't done s*** at the major league level. I've seen plenty of him and he can't hit major league pitching. He's a minor league all star but a major league dud. Carlos Quentin was a completely different situation because while he produced and showed a lot of promise for the DBacks, he couldn't stay healthy and they traded him for a pretty good prospect in Chris Carter. Way different scenarios. The Angels gave also severely mismanaged the majority of their young positional players for the last decade or so. Who aver think Macier Izturis and Erick Aybar are better than a SS who’s capable of putting up 35 homers in the majors, is probably not doing his job correctly.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 12:10 PM) Linebrink's bad spell has been about 7 innings. You are going to have bad outings. Obviously several in a row is troublesome, but Linebrink isn't going anywhere. We better hope he gets it together quickly. I'm not ready to give up on Linebrink yet. The problem is that Linebrink is lucky to throw 9 innings a week, when seven of those are bad it's put the team in a very bad place.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 11:41 AM) So this is kind of like the Floyd and Danks threads and comments from earlier in the season? Yes, because two young starting pitchers going through a bad spell, definitely are a great comparison to an aging relief pitcher showing signs of decline.
  17. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 02:15 AM) 3.) Neither are good major league hitters and I don't know why you'd want either. As of today, Brandon Wood has had 9 more AB's (192) then Chris Getz at the major league level. Josh Fields have 500 more AB's then Wood. That's a nice sample size to use to say that someone can't hit at the major league level. You know how many AB's Carlos Quentin had before coming to Chicago? 395. That guy turned out to be a bust, didn’t he?
  18. You people really want to neuter the championship-bound Barons, huh? How much talent must we bring to direction-less Charlotte?
