  1. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 02:52 PM) I din't say it was a bad thing it is just that there is additional pressure whether guys want to say it or not. Odd things happen in these games. The Beckham coming out party was a jab at this site more than him. Is is bad to get excited over a kid like Beckham coming up? Remember when we had Andy Gonzalez to look forward too? He'll hit. Give him time.
  2. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 02:48 PM) So much for the Gordon Beckham coming out party....I'll leave it at that. Like I said whether they want to say it or not, these games have a playoff like intensity to them. Good thing they're not playoff games and are prospects get to have learning curves. OH, look what just happened!
  3. That's a really impressive bit of hitting.
  4. QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 02:13 PM) i can't stand listening to Kasper when he gets excited. It's a bit like listening to Kermit the frog, isn't it?
  5. Looks like i get the Cubs broadcast today. That's alright. I'm not as violently opposed to Kasper and Brenly as some people are.
  6. QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 01:29 PM) Same lineup as yesterday Pods 7 Alexei 6 JD 9 Paulie 3 AJ 2 Anderson 8 Getz 4 Beckham 5 Danks 1 I like that lineup. I'd swap Beckham and Getz, but i like Ozzie's general direction with this one.
  7. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 16, 2009 -> 05:41 PM) Interesting. You'd figure home games would be cheap to do. It’s possible that they just don’t have the proper budget for equipment at home. I worked for college algae team and it really depended on where you broadcasted. At home games, we had to either do it through a phone, or through a dial-up computer program, while at away games they actually had fairly sophisticated equipment.
  8. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 11:53 AM) http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/20...opriate-co.html Or it might have been that he was hiding exculpatory evidence, and that a bipartisan review board unanimously recommended his termination. Frankly, I don't really know. Which sounds to me a lot more plausible than covering the mayor of Sacramento's ass. I think, and at least hope, that if Obama was going to pull shady s*** like people on such award winning websites as infowars.com, prisonplanet.com and talkaboutham.com accuses him of, it would be for bigger deals than pulling a mayor of a second tier California city out of the fire. For all the talk about being spoonfed other places, taking people like Alex Jones at face value certainly seems like a bit of spoonfeeding yourself. Bulls***, Ameri-trade asked the guy to investigate one of Obama’s friends due to mysterious allocations of taxpayer money, and then the guy is mysteriously fired after finding damning evidence. The man did nothing to deserve being fired, unless you count doing his job. Sometimes the obvious answer is the right one.
  9. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 09:45 AM) Last week, Sammy "retired" from the game and said that now he was just gonna sit back and wait to get elected to the Hall in 2013... Now all of a sudden, his positive drug test gets "leaked" to the media and made public... Coincidence????? I imagine a lot of this is from a pretty vindictive lawyer.
  10. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 11:35 AM) Pretty sure that was sarcasm. I am too, but no green means i seek clarification.
  11. QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 12:02 AM) Maybe because Alex Jones is bats*** crazy. You do realize that this has been backed up by multiple legitimate sources, right?
  12. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 11:09 AM) This is gonna suck if misses the whole season. The only good thing to come out of this would be more playing time for Wise. This is good.... How?
  13. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 09:30 AM) Does anyone wish that Nick Swisher was still on our roster FWIW? Yes, hell yes. I love the energy he brought to the team, and anybody could have told you that he'd rebound from what he did last year.
  14. When healthy Harden is one of the best pitchers in the league, that’s the huge x-factor. If we’re doing this as a Coop/Herm can fix ‘em type of deal then it’s a worthy purchase. But if we’re counting on him to anchor even the smallest percentage for our staff I’m not sure it’s wise investment. I’m not sure if Dotel is the return. He’s a tentative type A free agent, who might be able to make the team younger and better, through a different trade or the draft.
  15. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 12:36 AM) The jist I have gotten from the organization is that they really value the elite group of prospects playing together in a winning environment. To go along with that, you have seen Beckham and Poreda both get the call from AA to the majors, without a stop at Charlotte. I'll be surprised to see a broken up Barons squad come playoff time. Beckham played about a week in Charlotte, but i agree with your general sentiments.
  16. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 12:27 AM) I'll be stunned if that many of the Barons get promoted this year. In the past I’d agree, but the Buddy Bell system seems to see AAA as a step on the ladder rather then something that can simply be skipped over. I'd be surprised like you, pleasantly so, but there's a decent chance that we see Flowers and Danksy up in AAA, depending on both the big league team, and whether Lucy, Armstrong, Kroeger or Restovich actually mean anything to the organization anymore.
  17. Anything with creepy Tom Cruise just kills me.
  18. I wonder whose going to be on the Barons for the playoff run after the second half? If I had to guess I’d say Vicideo, and Shelby will be the primary two offensive mainstays with Hudson, Shirek, and Marrero coming (or in Shirek's) case staying with the team, while a fair few like, Cook, Mcculloch, Danks, Flowers, Allen, Retherford, Gartrell either being in AAA or with the big league club.
