  1. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 08:33 PM) Tosh.0 on Comedy Central is plain awesome. Daniel Tosh is plain awesome. His show being awesome was a logical conclusion.
  2. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Jun 15, 2009 -> 06:51 AM) I'd be thrilled if Tim Raines Jr. came up to the Sox and posted a line of .333/.432/.464 after bottoming out with a couple of minor league teams. Tim Raines JR would have to go all Benedict Arnold on the Royals AAA team to make it back to the Sox like that.
  3. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jun 14, 2009 -> 09:03 PM) No kidding. The 2008 draft really has to give you confidence that our scouts and the way we approach our minor league system have improved a lot since Kenny decided to make some changes. And if we can find a couple Dan Hundson's/Dexter Carter's in this draft (Morgado? Buch?) as well as an impact bat (whether it's Mitchell, Thompson, Goodwin if he signs, though unlikely), this draft will be pretty stellar. Holmberg is the kid I’m looking at to give us one of the better returns. He has the track record, stuff, and he’s young enough to make adjustments and see improved velocity.
  4. "Guillen also took exception to comments made by former Sox teammate Jack McDowell on his blog in which McDowell writes that "it seems manager Ozzie Guillen is not a big fan of Beckham's. Every time the kid's name has been mentioned throughout the year, Ozzie has never uttered a positive word publicly about him." Guillen took great extremes to say he protected Beckham from the hype surrounding his ascent to the majors. "I think the hype in Chicago was too high," Guillen said. "The prediction was too much for the kid. I know Chicago better than Jack McDowell. I know Chicago better than (Gordon) Beckham. I just try to get fans and media to let this kid alone and let him play the game." Guillen also questioned McDowell's comparisons of Beckham with former teammate Robin Ventura, who also got off to a slow start. Guillen pointed out that Ventura, unlike Beckham, was a natural third baseman and a better hitter coming out of college than Beckham. "It’s kind of funny because everyone has their opinion and you think people who know about baseball, all of a sudden surprise you that they don’t," Guillen said. "When people have little knowledge about the game, all of a sudden you turn around like, 'oh, I guess he don’t know (bleep) about baseball.' " Article from White Sox section of Chicagosports.com
  5. I swear you could shout the word "Wrigley!" at Ozzie at a grocery story, and still get an awesome soundbite.
  6. Ozzie Guillen claims he pukes every time he goes into Wrigley Field. "I see the other day they asked (Twins third baseman Joe) Crede about the rats (in Wrigley) ... I never put the Cubs fans down, I've always admired the Cubs' front office, I've always made my feelings known about Cubs players, about the manager, about Lou (Piniella) now, (general manager) Jim Hendry and the way I respect them, a lot, a lot. ''But Wrigley Field? I puke every time I go there. I'm just being honest. ''If the Cubs fans don't like the way I talk about Wrigley Field ... I don't say anything about their fans, but Wrigley Field? They have to respect my opinion because that's the way I feel. A lot of great people are working there, the clubhouse people working there - I wish they had a better clubhouse, but besides that, it's exciting when the game starts. Of course it's exciting because that's one of the best, it's always crowded. But besides that, it's terrible.'' " http://www.southtownstar.com/sports/162269...soxntbk.article
  7. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Jun 15, 2009 -> 12:05 AM) I think when you have Sarah Palin retorting by calling David Letterman a child molester, after he apologized for telling what he, in retrospect, viewed as an inappropriate joke, it kinda gets harder to see her point. They didn’t call him a child molester, they called him out for trying to make the rape of (what the Palin’s saw as a) 14 year old girl a laughing matter. Also, you can’t tell me you found anything about Letterman’s apology sincere, right? He was trying to cover his own ass and did so by showing no remorse and digging himself a slightly greater hole.
  8. I think the minute we get about half a dozen back in the division, and things don't look bright for us to get back in the race, that's about the only time we'll be seeing this organization look to Danks2 as a legitimate option. He still has a lot of things to work out in the minors, remember he was never as polished as Beckham was throughout his baseball career.
  9. Sad way for the USM-Tex game to end. No real solutions when your bullpen can't throw strikes.
  10. Deal with a guy who was hitting 5th for us today, Who has about two hits on the season and is failing in nearly every facet of the game? But whatever, it's only one of many problem's so let's ignore it.
  11. Carlos Quentin does not bunt. His job is to move the runner over via a walk, a HBP a base hit or a home run.
  12. Hopefully, we're looking at back to back strong drafts.
  13. I can't wait till the articles about how Boras is taking advantage of this wholesome Mormon family. Wholesome maybe, but this kid has an edge to him. He wants to compete.
  14. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 14, 2009 -> 07:01 PM) The team now knows about it to, or at least AJ does. We played the soundbite for him a few weeks ago, he hadn't heard it yet, and got a kick out of it. Well, Ozzie was the inspiration for "fung is winning and winning is fung"
  15. I think Bryce is just cocky enough to think he can work it in the big leagues, right now. He's the primary motivating factor.
  16. Backround checks still needed. Both are nearly ready for the open market. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/unfiltered/?p=1311
  17. We didn't even have to bunt once!
  18. Why not call up Kroeger or Cook? It's not like we haven't already tried Pods in center. What does Wise offer to this team?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 14, 2009 -> 05:31 PM) That would break the Armageddon mark for all-time worst movie Physics. You haven't seen The Core, have you?
  20. Hell of a finish. Great to win another series.
  21. The Pirates handled the Tigers again. Good to see.
  22. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 14, 2009 -> 04:43 PM) Dont you dare talk about anything positive. It is getting in the way of me talking s*** about Wise,Fields, and Getz. So you just stop with that. Wise should be DFA'd did I mention that 47 times yet? Do you really not like the idea of making us a better team and would you rather b**** at the thought of watching a better lineup take the field? We all love this team, we want to win, we love to win. We don't always need to win in spite of a couple of guys though.
