  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 09:49 PM) I'm fine with that bunt, all things considered. I never think that taking the bat out of a hitters hand is a good idea. SLAYER!!!!
  2. Paulie looks like he hurt his hand. We might be seeing Fields next inning.
  3. Thank god we bunted BA over to third in the 6th. Otherwise, we would have had 3 outs to strand that runner.
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 05:11 PM) Thunder, this is probably the easiest spot to go to get a quick update on our selections www.twitter.com/futuresox Nice Plug.
  5. Holy crap we took Goodwin? If we can sign this kid... Nice i really like some of the arms we picked up in the middle part of the day.
  6. Marlins just took Harold Brantley out of UCONN. I've watched him play a bit, not a complete package, but his tools might be enough to carry him to the MLB as a 4th or 5th OF/
  7. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 12:35 PM) Rotoworld never praises the White Sox, never Gleeman is a Twins fan. I'm getting a feel for some of the early rounds of day 2. Not very pleased so far.
  8. My connection crapped out a couple minutes into the draft. What's the consensus here? Yay or Nay?
  9. Video of Matt Heidenrech. http://mlb.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?topic_i...tent_id=4674627 Giants with a great pick in Brandon Belt.
  10. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 09:35 AM) Me too, I'm really hoping for Keyvius Sampson who I like a lot, 95-96mph fastball, hammer curve, improving change and he's a great athlete. If we could get Sampson, Schuster and another catcher like Seastrunk or Bailey, i'd call this a nice draft for the White sox.
  11. I'd like to see a couple more high-upside arms on our board.
  12. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 04:48 AM) BA is a dud, only thing he's got going for him is his glove because he looks lost at the plate. Were you asleep for the two-run bomb and the walk in the 9th?
  13. QUOTE (hogan873 @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 08:33 AM) You know what's scary (and maybe a little exciting)...KW could go into fire sale mode and dump salary and pick up some youth, and this team could still compete in the lousy AL Central. . That's my line of thinking too. As long as we have a decent pitching core and pen. Our young guys could have a decent chance of competing for a pennant. I'd leave Vicedo down until next year, but i'd only have a few reservations with beginning the major league acclimation process for Danks, Flowers, Allen and Link after the trade deadline.
  14. If Ozzie continues to go out of his way to publically disparage guys like Beckham and Poreda, guys who are of critical importance to this franchises' future, I think that KW seriously needs to consider a change of the managerial position. This is no longer about the 2005 team, that window is rapidly closing, we have a new core that needs to integrate pretty rapidly to ensure sustained success and Ozzie is doing everything possible to make this transition as difficult as possible.
  15. Ozzie trys to marginalize Beckham again. "''You guys [the media] do a pretty good PR department for Beckham,'' Guillen said. ''I've been in Chicago for 17 years, playing and coaching. Has anybody been 0-for-whatever he is, he hasn't got booed yet? He hit a ground ball to second base and got a standing ovation from the fans [the other day]. Somebody hit a ground ball right at him, and he got another standing ovation. Good job, guys. Keep it up. I hope he sells a lot of shirts, but I need production.'' I'm starting to feel very uncomfortable with Ozzie managing the next generation of White Sox players. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...soxnt10.article
  16. 71. White Sox - David Holmberg, rhp, Port Charlotte (Fla.) HS Holmberg showed the top velocity at the Sebring (Fla.) Baseball Classic last week at 93 mph If Holmberg can maintain that increase in velocity, he'll be that much better.
  17. If Dye misses any signifcant time, Josh Kroeger will be making his AL debut very soon.
  18. Wait, Patrick Schuster hasn't been taken yet, right? I want him too. Schuster and Holmberg were the two most higly touted High School pitchers in Florida.
  19. This Holmberg kid is really growing on me. His stuff isn't eye-popping, but he's mechanically sound, and he just dominates guys with solid location and movement.
  20. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 12:12 AM) Jared Mitchell RF Alexie Ramirez SS Carlos Quentin LF Paul Konerko 1B AJ Pierzynski C Gordon Beckham 3B Dayan Viciedo DH/3B Chris Getz 2B Jordan Danks CF Jared Mitchell has no business being up in September. How many minor league games would he play? 5?
  21. Holmberg does an outstanding job of hiding the ball. See for yourself: http://mlb.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?topic_i...tent_id=4736819
