  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 08:14 PM) What in the hell is wrong with Ozzie? Is it too much to give these kids some encouragement? We absolutely need a new manager if we go into rebuilding mode. Ozzie needs to shut his mouth. Does he really think trying to intimidate these young kids is the right direction to go in?
  2. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 11:47 PM) There is a difference between rebuilding and just being dumb and forcing guys who aren't ready to play. That would be the latter. I don't know. Danks just got the same major league ready label from Buddy Bell that Slayer did about a week before his call up. I think the organzation thinks they know what they've got with the kid.
  3. The picks been growing on me over the last couple of hours. He has too much skill in every area to write off.
  4. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 11:46 PM) Then f*** it, call up Jordan Danks I'm all for it.
  5. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 11:35 PM) I'm not. How often can you count on BA hitting a homer? How often can you count on BA GETTING A HIT? I look up and down the rosters of the red sox and other teams and see everyone hitting close to .300 and it just sickens me. Until Q is back, we don't have a choice. BA is our best option outside of saying, "f*** it", and calling up Jordan Danks.
  6. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 11:21 PM) What'd they say? Bryan Smith (4:44:55 PM PT): battlekow (Milwaukee): Would you have liked Jared Mitchell better than Pollock there? Can Mitchell stick in center? I would, but you won't find many Mitchell supporters bigger than me. Mitchell could absolutely stick in center on speed alone, but he's going to need some instructions. He's a big slow to react off the bat, so he needs that speed to make up for it. But with the power potential and the baserunning ability, the upside is so much better than Pollock. If you can't tell, Mitchell is one of my favorites in this draft. Kevin Goldstein (5:02:45 PM PT): White Sox take Jared Mitchell from LSU. That's upside, and that's up the middle. You just watch his video and you'd think he was a top 10 guy. Love, love, love this pick. Bryan Smith (5:05:21 PM PT): I'm with KG: the White Sox did a fantastic job with that pick. Between Beckham, Danks and Mitchell, this team is being proactive about rebuilding their farm system. Credit where credit is due. Kiley McDaniel (5:05:23 PM PT): Who wouldn't love to see Carl Crawford, Jared Mitchell, Donavan Tate and other uber-athletes do some sort of combine-style competitions at the All-Star/Future's game. Let Reyes run on Ankiel's arm...I mean who wouldn't watch that? Bryan Smith (5:08:36 PM PT): strupp (Madison): Mitchell is a High School player minus 3 years of development time, right? Find me a high schooler in this draft with patience as good as his, and with baserunning as polished as his. He didn't waste his three years -- he's leaving LSU a much better player than when he arrived in Baton Rouge. Joe Hamrahi (5:11:38 PM PT): Statistically though, Jared Mitchell looks like he can still improve. While he does walk and has great speed, his contact rate was below 70% for a good portion of the year...not an elite number for a first round pick. But imagine if he puts the bat on the ball more. Kevin Goldstein (5:13:04 PM PT): Bryan is right, Mitchell is better, as he played less of a role on the football team as his football career wore on. http://baseballprospectus.com/rt/rt.php?rtId=17
  7. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 11:30 PM) Getz Anderson Nix Fields Linebrink Wise If I woke up tomorrow and these guys were gone I would be a very happy man One of those guys hit a two-run homer tonight. I'm fine with BA, Nix, Fields and Brinkey staying. I think the door is rapidly closing on Chris Getz. .
  8. I'm trying to distance myself from this team. I can't take this s*** anymore.
  9. Josh Fields has to play first here. We don't have a choice.
  10. Of course it could be a huge missed call Hawk. It would have won the f***ing game
  11. QUOTE (bulokis @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 10:53 PM) AJ has been brutal when we have runners on base. And when we need someone to take a damn pitch.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 10:40 PM) I can't see us drafting a guy in the first five rounds, at least, that we didn't know we could sign. Andy Seiler: White Sox pick Trayce Thompson from Santa Margarita HS (CA). He’s going to take tons of money to sign, but he’s got HUGE upside.
