  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 05:15 PM) Everything with his curve. Good to hear. That's how Gavin needs to pitch.
  2. This is the Floyd I love. To those watching: Is Gavin switching up the sequence of his pitches and finishing with the curve, or is he overpowering with his fastball?
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 05:09 PM) I guess I'm the only one who doesn't care about a home run call. It's a home run for your team, who cares what the announcer says! What I do hate is the premature stretch by Hawk. Don't ever watch a Yankees game on YES. Trust me.
  4. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 05:06 PM) Highly doubtful, but I wouldn't be opposed to sending down Beckham. He didn't need to be up here and he's looked like a rookie. I'm not saying send him down, but if Gordon isn't going to play at 2nd at all, he shouldn't be on the team right now. SIX AT BATS!!!!
  5. QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 05:04 PM) Well, Beckham is now gonna ride the bench in favor if Getz/Nix at 2B. f***ing AWESOME! Nah, we either send the kid down or he's our starting 2B.
  6. Did gameday just read: Josh Fields HR? Was it pretty? f*** yeah, Josh!
  7. It's great not being able to watch this game! Thanks Fox!

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 10:47 AM) It will be good to see Half-Blood Prince finally come out, but I really wish it had been ready for a November 2008 release like they had been planned. Have they even started production on Deathly Hallows? It's going to be really hard believing Harry and co. are 17 by the time that one comes out. They're about a third of the way through filming right now. They split the book into two films (greed is good?), and it looks like they're shooting both together.
  9. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 03:17 AM) In case you live under a rock that is under a boulder that is under a volcano that is lodged somewhere in the center of the Earth, Gordon Beckham was called up to the White Sox 3 days ago. WHAT??????
  10. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 12:11 PM) Cubano definitely needs to post more. He did call Betemit being a bust for this team. His hitting never came around. It's not like anyone expected Betemit to be a world beater, just a contributor. It's possible that Betemit might not even have made the team out of spring had Nix not gone down.
  11. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 02:25 AM) I was more or less talking hypothetically. And yes if his agent is Boras, he will be ridiculously rich and unproven. He's also one of the better offensive prospects of the decade. Unless, he has some serious competition, we'd have no choice but to take him.
  12. I really like Spilborghs' beard, otherwise, he seems like a guy who can do a lot of important things but in a very average way.
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 01:15 AM) This organization has completely lost it if Flowers or Viciedo are anywhere near the bigs this season. I could see Allen up at some point. It depends on how bad a position we are in by the break. I don’t see a problem with the team letting the kids get their feet wet, if anything it’ll put us in a better position to compete the very next year.
  14. ]Bold Prediction: Knightni's birthday will coincide with a future holiday entitled Gordon Beckham day. Both will be happy occasions.
  15. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 01:06 AM) Just think of the great draft pick the Sox might get in 2010 and the salary relief after the season. 2007 did get the massive bust that is Gordon Beckham. So, my expectations are low at this point. (green)

QUOTE (onedude @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 01:04 AM) went to watch The Hangover tonight.... I was carded. I'm 24, but the theater has a new policy....must be 21 or older to purchase R tickets. You can be 17 to watch, but you have to be 21 to buy...WTF is up with that?? That’s absolute bull. If you ever have the time I’d talk to the manager, it’s just a half-assed way to go about things. Also, anyone else wanna put their man card down for a second and say that they’re reasonably excited for the next Harry Potter film?
  17. Wow, you're pretty excited for this one, huh? Why not? Go Beckham! Go Sox! Let's Kick Some Ass!
  18. You gotta post more, Cubano. You're a great contributor. I'd agree with the above posters: no one really liked Betemit. It was pretty apparent in late spring that the kid couldn't field at all. His bat was a disappointment though.
  19. Ozzie and Big Z really do have a lot in common. I wouldn't be suprised to see Z make a decent manager in a couple years. He's got a poor temper, but a decent mind for the game.
  20. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 10:42 PM) Ozzie said like one sentence to the media, and walks off the podium hilarious, f*** you ozzie Ozzie's too stubborn to do what's right. KW is the one that needs to be asked about why both Walker and Wise escape the consequences of poor job performance.
  21. Christian Marrero was forced to umpire a couple of inning after an umpire had to leave the game http://bensbiz.mlblogs.com/archives/2009/0...nit_is_hap.html Purple Phallus suffer cruel/expected taunts for hyphen, not penis related images. http://bensbiz.mlblogs.com/archives/2009/0...g_pelicans.html
  22. Poreda managed to shut down one of the best hitters in the minors, Desmond Jennings, three times. Getting a Pop out, Line out and a Fly out.
  23. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 11:58 PM) Why? Poreda is throwing a scary amount of walks. Viciedo is 20 and adjusting to moving to a new country and entirely different culture while playing at an advanced level. I'm not going to say I'm thrilled with what he's done, but we are seeing improvement and I think he has a bigger upside than the other guys you named. I’d put Danks and Flowers ahead because they are performing admirably at less-offensively oriented positions. While I think Viciedo will be a great asset to this team third-basemen is more of a known commodity. As for, Poreda he’s still our best arm, and apart from the walks is pitching rather well.
  24. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 11:23 PM) Our new top prospect is hot right now. 8-17 in June. .390 in his last 10 games (16-41). His average is up to .286, but his OPS is still south of .700. It's good to see a HR, he needs to get the power stroke going. While I’d still put Tyler Flowers, Aaron Poreda, and Jordan Danks ahead of him, it’s still really encouraging to see Viciedo turning it on
  25. I’m not one to make these kinds of impulsive declarations, but I think Greg Walker might need to answer for this. I’m not sure that Major League hitters can actually be taught, but it’s Greg Walkers’ job to sure as hell try. These shutouts are unacceptable.
