  1. QUOTE (scenario @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 09:15 PM) He's really been struggling and just got sent to AAA. McClouth and then the Glavine move today... interesting. Guess Atlanta is serious about competing this year to make these types of in-season adjustments. It'll be interesting to see what else is coming. I wouldn't be surprised to see them make another deal for a starting pitcher... like Cliff Lee. Don't forget about Tommy Hanson the best pitching prospect in baseball being called up too.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 09:14 PM) Fields 2/2 with 2 solid singles to LF. That one was on a change. It's like Fields has a Beckham sense go off in head. "Uh-oh, better go hit the ball."
  3. I've written a letter. Dear Greenday, Please Stop. With Love, Thunderbolt Anyone else wanna sign off on this one?
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 08:15 PM) Beckham doubled in his second AB. I think he may have a future. It doesn't stop for this kid. He'll be here within the next two weeks.
  5. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 08:12 PM) Prior's mechanics were as close to perfect as you can get. I ain't buying that stuff about the inverted W and so on. Why wouldn’t you buy it? Because you’re a rebel? It’s practically a universal consensus. I'm not saying roids weren't a factor, i just thing a crap motion and Dusty Baker didn't help.
  6. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 07:57 PM) So, he has until tomorrow to accept an assignment to Charlotte. If he does, who goes? Do you cut or demote Armstrong or Lucy? Not likely in my opinion since both have worked with a lot of the pitchers in the organization and have been in the system for several years. What good would it do to carry 3 catchers and let go of or demote a position player? It's possible Armstrong or Lucy could be demoted to B'ham since they're both behind Flowers on the depth chart anyway. Armstrong could be the lefty backup to Flowers, and have better success hitting in AA. I'm still convinced that Cole was rushed to AAA. Not that I don't like Jared Price, he's solid defensively and can pop a homer every once in awhile. I just don't see the necessity to hold onto Corky Miller. He should have been outright released, because it may be more of a problem for the White Sox to try to hold onto him. We Cut Miller. Their is still a small bit of upside for Armstrong and Lucy. There is none for Miller.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 06:48 PM) IIRC, it was bad enough that Cooper had spotted it years before. Like KW traded for him then told Cooper "There, you've got him". What's amazing is that Coop's changes added the consistent 4 MPH onto Thornton's fastball. Thornton used to average 93.
  8. Schuster is a guy we shouldn't pass up on if he's still there in the 3rd or 4th round. He has too much upside.
  9. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 07:51 PM) Prior was a PED user no doubt. When he had to get off the juice, that's what f***ed up his career, IMO. All of Prior's detractors pointed to his mechanics coming out of college. There's strong evidence that they contributed to his shoulder problems that and colliding with Marcus Giles. The connection is obvious and it ain't roids.
  10. The Pirates are going to have a really nice core in a few years.
  11. I really like this lineup, but i hope Danny Mac with B&B doesn't mean we'll have less Goff.
  12. Thank god. Hopefully, he can clear his throat and then shut the hell up.
  13. The real question is if Slayer follows.
  14. Tom Glavine released by Braves after throwing six scoreless. Why sign him in the first place? http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/9642590...ndary-P-Glavine
  15. A combo of Michael Bourn and Corey Patterson seems like a very bad baseball player. Bad comparison. He's a bit like Granderson when he was a prospect. Full of potential, but raw enough that it will take him a couple years to figure everything out.
  16. Why would the Cubs trade Big Z? Who will replace him? Randy Wells?, Samardidja? Mitch Atkins? Does this seem like a trade a team that's competing in a crap division would make?
  17. Twitter Tracker! Twitter Tracker! TWITTER TRACKER!!!!
  18. A lot of Marmol’s success comes from being effectively wild. In the past that meant walking one person per inning. That’s varied a bit, enough to be concerned, but not enough to make any final judgments.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 01:05 PM) Ugh, I'm so sick of the David Cook love. While it would be awesome to have a 30 year old rookie CF in two years, i believe he meant Jordan Danks.
  20. Good article by Verducci about Bryce Harper, the apparent heir two years down the line to Strasburg’s #1 pick. This kid's almost worth losing for. Almost. http://vault.sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vau...215/1/index.htm
  21. According to SSS, Rick Hahn confirmed it was a straight platoon last night. f*** Ozzie if that's true.
  22. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 10:56 AM) Somehow... we must get Dan Haren!!! Heren was freaking on last night. That cutter was unhittable.
  23. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 10:09 AM) He also has Scheppers slipping out of the first round, fwiw. Law isn't the brighest tool in the shed.
