  1. Anthony Reyes needs season-ending surgery. Edwin Jackson has pitched like this more then a few times in his professional career and then started walking everyone in the park. I suggest we wait a few more weeks before anointing him.
  2. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 30, 2009 -> 12:48 PM) 4-seam fastball that averages around 94 that can get up to 95 or 96. 2-seam fastball that averages around 91 with good sinking action. Slider with good sweeping action that can be nasty at times. A solid-good changeup. And I think he might have a bit of a curve as well. I’ve been trying to get a good read of Richard. When he was drafted he had a 90's sinker, a change and a slider, this seems to have changed (for the better). Is he just throwing a harder fastball, slider and change now, or does he still work in the curve? Is that the two-seamer i'm seeing? I’m hearing and seeing a lot of conflicting reports, but i love how he's changing his repertoire.
  3. QUOTE (dasox24 @ May 31, 2009 -> 01:57 AM) 13 IP... 2 H, 14 K!!! Outing of a lifetime for that kid. I believe that was 169 pitches, as well.
  4. Texas takes the lead on an RBI single
  5. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ May 31, 2009 -> 01:36 AM) Lebron will never come to Chicago, its Cleveland or NYC. If the Bulls start talking and dealing like they want to be legitimate players for Lebron, then they'll be legitimate players for him. The Bulls need to put the possibility out there. Honestly, why would anyone want to play for New York over Chicago? The idea is that New York will sign everybody and their mother and take a team to the top, the Bulls are in a sitiuation where they could have both Rose and Gordon and one of Amare/Bosh starting over the next couple of years, whose to say that Lebron wouldn't look at the sitiuation and make a logical choice?
  6. QUOTE (dasox24 @ May 31, 2009 -> 01:09 AM) Oh my god, I just looked at the scores for today's games, and Texas-BC are tied at 2-2 in the bottom of the 22nd inning. I wish I could be watching that right now. I suggest you look at Austin Wood's pitching line for a bit more amazement.
  7. Even if he wasn't hitting, BA is worth starting for his defense alone. He makes everyone around him better, We can't afford to sacrifice that.
  8. The Royals broadcast had him at 103 once, then 100, then 99. I imagine they were a bit off, but Bobby hasn't shown that kind of velocity since Game 163.
  9. Another solid game by our Sox. This is winning baseball.
  10. Hernandez blew the save for the Barons, ruining another nice outing by Poreda. Birmingham Player IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA Poreda 6.0 7 3 2 3 7 0 2.62 Rote (H, 1) 1.1 1 1 1 2 1 0 8.74 Hernandez, F (BS, 3)(L, 1-2) 1.2 1 1 0 1 1 0 1.24 Barons lose 5-4.
  11. It was a hell of a finish for the anointed one. Roughly around the time you’d expect the Greatest Player of All Time to take over the game he relinquished the entire offense to Delonte West. Needless to say the first of his seven titles will not come this year.
  12. QUOTE (shipps @ May 30, 2009 -> 04:41 PM) We cant have a 4 lefty rotation, can we? If they're both good pitchers i can't see why not.
  13. The Nuggets are like the Magic without Dwight Howard. They have a perimeter team, but are deathly afraid of taking the ball inside to the hole. The amount of bad shots that the Nuggets took last night are enough evidence to make one of the next two conclusions. George Karl is either incompetent or his team fails to learn from their mistakes. Either one puts George Karl in a very bad place.
  14. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 30, 2009 -> 11:27 AM) We will need a healthy Jose down the stretch. If he can heal up and find his control he will be a top of the line guy again Disagree, the best we can hope for is league-average production. A guy with Jose's mileage just doesn't figure it out all of the sudden.
  15. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 29, 2009 -> 04:36 PM) God I hate Marmol. Yeah he's got great stuff, but he walks the world. Still, that kinda stuff doesn't grow on trees. THe Cubs should count their blessings that they have that guy for the next couple of years.
  16. Hasn’t McCulloch proven that he’s suitably mediocre enough to be promoted to AAA and let a decent pitcher with upside take up his spot with the Barons?
  17. Some video of Rex Brothers: Destroyer of Worlds. (also the name of the book i will be writing about him) . His personality reminds me of Jim Thome. Here's hoping he falls to us.
  18. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ May 29, 2009 -> 08:47 PM) Chris Davis: 0-4 4 K's, 75 K's in 162 at-bats so far this year. Still has to play in game 2 right now. EDIT: Game 2, 0-3, 2 K's. 77 K's in 165 at-bats. Davis is killing both my fantasy teams. And we think Josh Fields strikes out too much.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ May 29, 2009 -> 10:06 PM) Yeah, I was impressed by him, and then even more impressed when I learned that UVa's offense is as good as it is. He made their hitters look like high schoolers. The "High Schoolers" still won the game, so it was a small victory for Strasburg, i'm sure.
  20. Is Marquez still on the DL? I'm certain it's been more then seven days.
  21. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 30, 2009 -> 03:17 AM) Here's hoping my boy (and beautox's boy) Brothers falls to us. I'd like to be part of this adoption process. Brothers is really the only guy who i'll be visibly angry if he's still around and we don't pick.
  22. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 30, 2009 -> 04:45 AM) FWIW, I've made this comparison/prediction for a while now, but Gordon Beckham is going to be our Derek Jeter. Offensively? Awesome! Defensively? I hope not. Not that I wouldn’t love to have a player whose dives and gazelle like hops cover hysterically bad range, and get translated into a few gold gloves, but in terms of what Jeter means to that organization. I’d love for Beckham to turn into that kind of figure in Chicago.
  23. By the time he retires, Mark Buehrle will have meant a lot more to this organization then just a World Series, 250 or so Wins and a no hitter. He's had a strong hand in the development of both Richard and Danks, Two guys who could help anchor us into the future. I can't wait to see what he does with Poreda.
  24. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 30, 2009 -> 02:09 AM) I kind of love this trade. Agreed, KW has shown me a lot over the last couple of years. He's rapidly becoming one of the better GM's in the league.
