  1. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ May 30, 2009 -> 01:01 AM) You saw it too? If you don't mind, may I ask what in the hell either of us were doing on that forum? Given that I’m sober, I’m not sure I have a legitimate excuse. I’m actually a bit ashamed of myself, right now.
  2. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ May 30, 2009 -> 12:41 AM) Link I knew this would come up.
  3. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 30, 2009 -> 12:27 AM) I thought Whisler topped out at 90? Broadway will get a shot at starting I would think and as jason pointed out a week or so ago he may find success somewhere else. There's very little chance that Broadway will ever start a game for the Mets. He's at least the six or seven best option they have.
  4. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ May 30, 2009 -> 12:04 AM) JPN, what does Whisler offer besides his mid-90's FB? He has a 3/4 slider and a tailing change.
  5. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 29, 2009 -> 11:56 PM) He's 33. What you see is what you get. I'll take it considering the crap we gave up. I agree that we won't see any dynamic improvement, but i think in our ballpark we'll see a bit more of what Castro has to offer then the Mets did.
  6. McCulloch with yet another McCulloch outing. He's not getting any better, but he's really not getting worse. Birmingham Player IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA McCulloch (W, 5-4) 7.0 6 3 3 2 4 0 4.08
  7. Clayton Richard is becoming a hell of a pitcher. That slider is becoming his put away pitch.
  8. I’ve had the opportunity to watch Castro a bit, because of where I live. He’s a solid player with a lot of room for growth. The reason he did get the bulk of the playing time is because the Mets want to maximize value from the Milledge trade.
  9. Castro used to be a big prospect and can hit. So, he's an ugrade over the Corkaroo. Broadway was a constant reminder of organizational failure that needed to be purged.
  10. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 29, 2009 -> 05:47 PM) Little over an hour until the major league debut of Matt Wieters, I'm oddly excited for this occasion. I'm pretty buzzed too. I imagine i'll have a similiar reaction when the Barons prospects start to emerge, or when Strasburg takes the hill for the Nationals.
  11. Gordon Beckham was always pretty much a finished project. Coming out of college, nearly every offensive part of his game was judged as being sound and major league ready, the only question was as to whether he could hit professional hitting and field his position and a decent level, he's proven that. As long, as this continues i have no problem with rapidly moving him through the system.
  12. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ May 29, 2009 -> 06:02 PM) Oswalt? no thanks. hes been on a steady decline since 05. 2005: 2.94 era 2006: 2.98 2007: 3.18 2008: 3.54 2009: 4.62 (so far) of course theres nothing wrong with a 3 and a half era. but the point is that it doesnt look like hes getting any better. i think the sox should look else where Oswalt's K per nine is still fairly consistent, stats wise there's very little to suggest that he won't remain an above-average pitcher for the duration of his contract.
  13. I know I’m prone to hyperbole, but I could make the argument that starting Wise over BA at this point would be one of the worst possible things to happen to our organization for our foreseeable future.
  14. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 29, 2009 -> 12:36 PM) hence barely anybody is reporting that the Cubs can't add payroll. Or that Samardidzja and Cashner are not even close to being worthy returns.
  15. In case we want to play telephone again. Roy Oswalt has played with and can call the following White Sox. Dotel Linebrink Geoff Blum Darin Erstad Joe McEwing (White Sox minor league coach) Watch How Far I Can Stretch! Keith Ginter Daryle Ward Why wouldn't he want to play for the team that crushed his hopes and dreams back in 2005?
  16. Oswalts' contract. Roy Oswalt rhp 5 years/$73M (2007-11), plus 2012 club option 5 years/$73M (2007-11), plus 2012 club option signed extension with Houston 8/06 07:$13M, 08:$13M, 09:$14M, 10:$15M, 11:$16M, 12:$16M club option ($2M buyout) Oswalt may opt out of 2012 option & take a reduced buyout full no-trade clause 2 years/$16.9M (2005-06) signed extension with Houston 2/05 (avoided arbitration, $7.8M-$6M) 05:$5.9M, 06:$11M award bonus based on finish in Cy Young vote ($0.5M for 1st, $0.35M for 2nd, $0.25M for 3rd) contract also re-worked 10/05 to allow Houston owner Drayton McLane to give Oswalt a bulldozer for winning Game 6 of '05 NLCS 1 year/$3.25M (2004), avoided arbitration 1/04 1 year/$0.5M (2003) 1 year/$0.3M (2002) drafted 1996 (23-684) agent: Robert Garber ML service: 7.149 http://mlbcontracts.blogspot.com/2005/01/houston-astros.html
  17. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 28, 2009 -> 11:26 PM) I'd be hesitant to take Oswalt on at this point. I'm just afraid KW is going to blow some of this flexability on Juan Pierre when Manny comes back... I'm not kidding Roy Oswalt's stuff is still there. If you put a decent offense around him and a GM and Owner who are not absolute morons, i think he's got a chance of smoothing things out.
  18. I swear Dwight Howard could be stabbed in the heart by Lebron James, and Howard would still be called for the foul.
  19. Barons win 8-0. Gartrell with a bomb.
  20. Retherford is the ultimate combo of a great player with a great story. I have no doubt that he'll make it to the Big Leagues, and when he does we can all say that we saw it coming.
  21. Cubs screwed that one up. Nice.
  22. I wish this Scales guy played for a team i could root for. I like good stories.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ May 28, 2009 -> 10:41 PM) Couldn't agree more. It was pissing me off hearing Chicago sports radio hosts trying to say Cooper is a hypocrite. Zambrano's antics were embarrassing to the game of baseball. I'd agree with this. On the surface, criticism of Coop's comments make sense, but then you realize that this Carlos Zambrano. He does this crap every damn year and he gets painted as innocent and youthful. Meanwhile, Ozzie's a monster if he does something of any similar vein.
