  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 28, 2009 -> 10:40 PM) The two instances are not even in the same universe. Get back to me when Mark bumps and umpire and fires a baseball into the OF after a large temper tantrum. I believe in the aforementioned interview with Coop, he said something to the effect of “my players would never show such a public display of emotion.” I agree that the acts in and of them are not equal, nor given the history of the players involved are they really a worthy comparison.
  2. Honestly, my pitch to Lebron would be to completely serve his ego. Why run away from Jordan’s legacy, when you could just overcome it from within? By no means do I think he will, I just want the guy on the team.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 28, 2009 -> 06:55 PM) Nobody has mentioned Don Cooper calling Zambrano an asshole and saying that his antics wouldn't be tolerated on the Sox? A bit hypocritical given that time Buehrle took the bat to the heater. That being said Z is an impulsive, childish player. And Buehrle seems to have proven that this was a heat of the moment thing and that he's one of the more classy players in the game.
  4. QUOTE (tommy @ May 28, 2009 -> 09:54 PM) Wikipedia has him listed at 38, regardless, I think he has one or two seasons in him with decent production, I'd love for him to hit 600. The only thing I don't want is him blocking the youngsters at Birmingham. Considering three of our best prospects (Allen, Flowers, Viciedo) might eventually best be served to DH i think it could be a problem.
  5. Jerry Reinsdorf has a shocking amount of money, and for a guy who gets a bad rap from a lot of "fans" his fellow owners love the heck out of him.
  6. QUOTE (tommy @ May 28, 2009 -> 06:19 PM) So does he even miss one start? One.
  7. QUOTE (Disco72 @ May 28, 2009 -> 02:28 PM) Somebody explain to me why Ramirez would need to hire "talent scouts"? On the face of it, this seems like a scam. I expect that they’re facilitators that helped him to leave Cuba. It’s all very disingenuous.
  8. QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 28, 2009 -> 05:27 PM) He was the big hero for Fresno State last year in the CWS. He played with ligamnet problems in his hand. Steve Detwiler Did you read his profile? I loved this, "favorite athlete is Eric Burns, because he gives 100 percent at all times and plays with desire and passion . . . " Boers and Bernstein would love this kid.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 28, 2009 -> 11:46 AM) Laporta is good though. Yeah, he was just slumping right as Garko started hitting.
  10. I wonder where this leaves Brandon Allen. Given that he's probably the next in line for a promotion.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 28, 2009 -> 11:42 AM) Why are Hafner and Laporta down in AAA? Steroids and Failure.
  12. Milton Bradley's thoughts on The Big Z eruption were hilarious. ""That was pretty impressive," Chicago's Milton Bradley said of Zambrano's animated antics. "That was on a Bradley level." "In Spring Training, [athletic trainer] Mark O'Neal told me he didn't know how long it was going to last," Bradley said. "I said I guarantee I'm not going to be the one to break it, and I was right." "
  13. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 28, 2009 -> 11:25 AM) Any source on this at all? First post has no sourcing of any kind, which makes me highly skeptical. Where did you hear this? He got it from Mlbtraderumors.com. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/05/odds...ney-cooper.html
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 28, 2009 -> 10:37 AM) I am pissed that you aren't pissed. I am pissed that i just passed something.
  15. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 28, 2009 -> 11:22 AM) Well in all honesty, Charlotte isnt quite so pathetic anymore (at the moment, at least) If you swap Ginter for Castillo it would actually seem like it would have been a decent Major League team around 2005.
  16. I believe Machado is another one of those glove only guys. A guy who can field, but not hit? Why is he in the White Sox organization?
  17. QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ May 28, 2009 -> 02:04 AM) So, honestly guys, is Beckham really the s***? I mean, EVERYONE is doing so much talking about the guy, and I've never seen him play. What are the odds he actually turns out to be something decent? I hope its extremely high, because we need him to be that guy. Beckham is pretty solid in every area of the game. He's got a very fluid swing and nearly always squares up the ball. He's destined for some form of success at the Major League level, i just don't think it should be so early in the year, or at 3rd base.
  18. QUOTE (qwerty @ May 26, 2009 -> 05:54 AM) Danny richar broke up clay buchholz's no hitter in the ninth inning of their aaa game this past night. I found this interesting. Danny doesn't seem to be doing much in AAA, Masset though is giving the Reds some decent production. It's amazing how quickly Richar fell out of favor with the White Sox..
  19. Nuggets played themselves out of the game tonight. Too many dumb shots.
  20. We're doing some great work here on this site, i'm glad to have another avenue to explore (now, that the site is backup.).
  21. I still think Beckham holds far more value to this team as either a SS or a 2b.
  22. I’m really starting to get on this kid’s bandwagon. His arm is just outstanding, and power lefties are hard to come by. If KW continues to show Poreda, Brothers is a perfectly logical replacement.
  23. I actually like John Calipari, but in no way am i surprised at a recruitment scandal involving a good college program..
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ May 28, 2009 -> 12:24 AM) I'm more surprised he took 4 straight pitches. It's just AJP being AJP. Did anyone else notice how good Cleveland's hitting now? Mercy, we're playing better, and we're close to being in last place. Be nice to catch up to KC this weekend. Did you hear the interview with Mark Derosa on Waddle and Silvy? He sounded like he was ready to kill himself.
