  1. I agree that the primary motivating factor behind this was to make Gordon Beckham into a 3rd basemen without taking time away from Viciedo. I'm still not sure i like it. Their's an arguement to be made that we should of let the Barons prospects grow together. Regardless, i don't think a promotion for Brandon Allen is far behind.
  2. Carlos Zambrano is hilarious.
  3. You are doing a damn good job, Bear Sox. When you're not focused on Ryan Sweeney's pec's, you do great work.
  4. The Barons were really impressed with Hudson, when Beckham went on the DL. I imagine he'll get a shot.
  5. Guys, Beckham and Lillibridge are now playing side by side. CRAP.
  6. QUOTE (Reddy @ May 28, 2009 -> 12:01 AM) AJ sucks at hitting. 3-0 with a wild as f*** pitcher, you take 2. goddamn. I'd honestly bench him for this s***. Teach him a lesson. Who does that? Who ever thinks swinging their is a good idea? Oh, right. AJ "f***ing" Pierzynski.
  7. That was a great way to kill our chances. Sorry, Gavin.
  8. Wow, i never thought things would develop this quickly. I wouldn't be suprised if the kid is up by the All-Star Break.
  9. Ideally, Winston-Salem will have some good offensive prospects after the draft. Right now, Morel and Marrero are carrying these guys.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 27, 2009 -> 12:50 PM) The Sox said they wouldn't trade Beckham straight up for Peavy. I think we can just stop mentioning his name as a possibility. I could see them moving Alexei, but I can't see them doing it just yet, not with Viciedo being such a key ingredient for the future. It's not something we'd give up for Cain, it's somebody the Giants would want. As opposed to me, who wants Beckham, and doesn't want Cain (that much).
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 27, 2009 -> 12:32 PM) The point was more that you'd have to put up a better package. Start with Poreda. A package of Poreda, Shelby, Omogrosso would be a nice starting point, imo. See where things go from there. Bottom line, your offer didn't even have one of our 5 best prospects invovled in the trade and that is in a deal to get us one of the premiere arms in baseball. I'd say the above offer I made probably gets laughed at, the only difference is in this economy the economic savings from getting rid of Oswalts deal would be worth a substantial value, imo. But Houston isn't in the same shape that San Diego was. The economy is the X-Factor here, but the Astros have shown no signs that it's a huge concern for them. I'd agree that Poreda should be the prize of this deal in a realistic world.
  12. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 27, 2009 -> 12:30 PM) ...and Victor Martinez whom everyone ignored and I stole in every league is #2 behind Mauer. Now I just hope my trading him at the peak of his value and relying on Wieters doesn't backfire. It shouldn't. I have Chris Ianette and have waited on Wieters. It turned out to be a pretty good problem to have. The timing of Ianetta's injury has worked out magnificently.
  13. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 27, 2009 -> 12:29 PM) Of course. Only top notch prospect leaving would be Shelby, who has struggled this year. No way Houston would do that though, as it would be a horrid trade for them. Cook is not a prospect and Retherford has no value as a prospect. Never underestimate Ed Wade, my friend.
  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 27, 2009 -> 12:27 PM) Umm, why even discuss this. Because it's Wednesday at 12:39, and i'm unemployed at the moment?
  15. I'd sign him and put him in AAA. Assuming you twist his mechanics around, and try to to get his velocity back, he could be our next Matt Thornton.
  16. Some GM's rebuild, Ed Wade signs big names, puts them around small names, and watches in disbelief as things backfire.
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 27, 2009 -> 12:00 PM) Is Sabean that bad of a GM? San Fran was a very competitive team for a long time and while they are in a rebuilding mode right now, I'd say Sabean is the second worst GM in the Majors behind Ed Wade. What Sabean has done to that organization is a fireable offense. He has no right fielding that offensive team and putting it behind a pitching staff as good as he has.
  18. Hypothetically, if we could get Oswalt for Shelby, Cook, Retherford, and Omogrosso. Would you do it?
  19. Nix and Fields are similar in that they were 1st rounds picks, other than that they're fundamentally different baseball players. Why are they direct comparison to each other? They were drafted by different organizations, brought through the system differently, and have different skillets, positions, and value. Fields was a bit of a project when he was drafted with a lot of raw power, but a bit of an aggressive football mentality. Nix was a contact-hitting, defensive prodigy. They don't equate to me, sorry. Regardless, they both have a place on this team.
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 27, 2009 -> 11:25 AM) Guys, come on. If you were a team, wouldnt you want to build around two top of the rotation type pitchers like Lincecum and Cain? What would you take in trade for John Danks? Start there and see if someone like Nix or Getz would be able to grab Danks from you. If i were the Giants i'd open up trade talks for Zito (two middling prospect, anything you can get) and Sanchez (second-tier offensive prospect.). That's it, because a 2010 rotation of Lincecum, Cain, Alderson, Baumgardner, and anyone under the sun is still one of the best in the league.
  21. The Giants only offensive propsects are Buster Posey (a Catcher), and Angel Villanova (a 1B), everything else is a gaping hole in their system.
