  1. QUOTE (Cali @ May 23, 2009 -> 07:24 PM) I really despise Clayton's "No Stuff-Stuff", cause it might look good, sometimes even dominant in the early innings than the hitters realize he's just throwing the same 2 pitches and start whacking away.... It reminds me of Bobby Howry. Guy's really just a high-inside Two-seamer, with a slider that hardly slides. With a little work though i think we can get something out of CR.
  2. Am i the only one who reads the word Brookstone as Bookstore? It's a bit of a tease, really.
  3. QUOTE (dasox24 @ May 23, 2009 -> 07:08 PM) So did Lance Broadway in college. I want to stay away from Leake. Yeah, he might be a solid, safe choice, but we have seen where that's gotten us in Broadway/McCulloch. There's no denying he has been dominant this year, but I want a more high risk/high reward type pick. I like Leake, but i agree with this mentality. We need to take risks.
  4. Good work from Richard to get out that inning. Very reminiscent of his start in Toronto, so far.
  5. Okay, I have the Pirates broadcast tonight. So keep me appraised with White Sox broadcast hilarity.
  6. QUOTE (shipps @ May 23, 2009 -> 04:40 PM) Some Sox fans are sounding like Cub fans some months ago holding onto their Peavy wet dreams. There is an important differrence. They couldn't trade for Peavy, we DID.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 23, 2009 -> 12:50 PM) You can take a guy who looks like a hall of famer, injure him 8 times, and suddenly he won't look like the same guy. 100% correct. Before the Greinke explosion, i used to say that alongside Lineceum, Harden had the best raw stuff in the league when healthy. By no means was he ever the best pitcher, but his changeup used to be phenomenal. Yet due to injury, he can't throw the thing anymore. Eventually, his arm is going to crap out on him for good, the Cubs need to get whatever they can from him.
  8. Peavy hasn’t closed the door on the White Sox http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/baseball...ry/1062238.html Offer is still on the table. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,1864100.story

I watched Mission Impossible 3, the other day, because I really like what the JJ Abrams. Orci, Kurtzman trio tend to produce. I wasn’t let down, not a stellar film, but still pretty enjoyable.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ May 23, 2009 -> 11:47 AM) After my initial review of the Baseball America 2009 Draft Preview, I feel like the Sox will take Jared Mitchell with their first pick. KW's comments about taking a speedy outfielder (potential leadoff) and the comparison to Carl Crawford might be too much for KW to ignore. This was his draft report in 2006, when he was selected by the Twins in the 10th round. He's improved in a lot of ares, but is still very raw, but as a toolsy project he's exactly the type of risk we should be willing to take. That being said if a Sheppers or a like-minded arm is still on the board, i'd take him and find a OF in rounds 2-5 306 Jared Mitchell Westgate HS CF L/L 6'0" 190 1988-10-13 HS 350K Comments: A two-sport star who's signed to play football at LSU, he's a very raw, toolsy outfielder with speed to spare. He's very good defensively in center, but the projection of his bat is in question.
  11. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 23, 2009 -> 11:58 AM) What is your love affair for Andy Phillips. He sucks. The only thing you accomplish by bringing him up, is making your problem at 3rd base a few years older. Exactly, i'd rather win inspite of having Fields in the lineup, then when inspite of Phillips. At least, we'd be working towards the future.
  12. More from KW about the Peavy trade and just being a badass GM in general: http://scottmerkin.mlblogs.com/archives/20..._unplugged.html
  13. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 23, 2009 -> 10:45 AM) Where does that leave Viciedo in the scheme of things? LF or RF. Depending on where Q slots after Dye leaves. I still think Beckham winds up at SS in the majors though.

My guilty pleasure is anything by Brad Meltzer. The guy is pretty simple in his writing style, and the characters are pretty much the same in every book, but i enjoy it.
  15. QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ May 23, 2009 -> 09:58 AM) The reason he was not among the names is that he can't be traded until after the June draft. Duh. PTBNL.
  16. QUOTE (G&T @ May 23, 2009 -> 05:54 AM) Looks like KW is sending a message: Trib Yep, that's KW sending a shot across Josh Fields' bow.
  17. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ May 22, 2009 -> 07:01 PM) thats funny lol and hes been awful this year(now they really could use peavy...) Yeah, i'd love to have a pitcher this "awful". "W L ERA G GS CG SHO SV SVO IP H R ER HR HB BB SO AVG WHIP GO/AO sequence 4 2 4.74 8 8 0 0 0 0 43.2 39 24 23 8 2 21 53 .236 1.37 0.79 He hasn't been great, but nothing suggests he's a terrible pitcher. The ERA has been inflated due to bad luck, and a slightly tenative start. The Cubs have done a lot of dumb things over the past few years, but they knew what they were getting into with Harden, he's an injury-prone pitcher, but when he's hot and healthy he's one of the better pitchers in the game.
  18. No way do we give Andy Phillips playing time over Josh Fields. Not only it is implausible, but it's the wrong thing to do. We need him to work his crap out, and benching him for a 38 year old journeyman AAAA player isn't going to help.
  19. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 22, 2009 -> 11:53 PM) Puh-lease. How can animals that are always wearing tuxedos have anything scary about them? How about a Penguin with bloodlust and a license to kill?

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ May 22, 2009 -> 03:47 PM) Article says the screenplay will be by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, but it sounds like it's based on Aykroyd's script for a third film. Ramis may direct. Those two are writers for the Office so this thing has a lot of potential.
  21. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ May 22, 2009 -> 11:36 PM) i'll be in LF Carlos?
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 22, 2009 -> 11:43 PM) OK, Peavy's about to finish his 6th scoreless inning. Now...someone hit the ball off of him. It seems like once we started to talk about Penguin's the trade went down the hill, we have no change but to do this thing. I'll start: Penguins? Do they have teeth? I imagine tiny Penguin teeth would be scary.
  23. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 22, 2009 -> 11:42 PM) Side note: Charlotte today was playing the Pirates AAA affiliate. That's a nice little coinkydink. I always wished they'd managed to align the Minor League affiliates in divisions like their Major League clubs. That way they could establish rivalries early, and have a cool sense of competition going.
  24. Well, that was a kick in the balls for the Magic.
