  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 22, 2009 -> 11:21 PM) For those of us that did not get to see the game...I saw Alexei hit a homer tonight. Did he have some good ab's? How about Q? We need these two guys to come around if we are going to win anything this year. Looks like Alexei may be coming on at a similar point as he did last season. Now what's the story with Q? Alexei went 2 for 3, and had a really good approach at the plate. It was a marked improvement. Q, however, is showing very little sign of waking up, he's jumping on pitches rather then waiting for them.
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 22, 2009 -> 08:18 PM) So, it seems that while Kanny does have some solid pitching (despite Edwards getting hit today), their lineup is awful. Gilmore is the only guy whose bat is even worth mentioning. Hopefully, this will change with next months draft.
  3. I’d say an equal amount of credit goes to both Floyd and A.J. for the win tonight. Floyd couldn’t get the change over consistently, and AJ worked him through it. Frankly, AJ called an outstanding game tonight. Floyd’s curve remains a plus-plus pitch and that will take him places if he continues to attack hitters and switch up sequences.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 22, 2009 -> 03:37 PM) I presume his music will be! With that cast, the movie will be hilarious. Who's writing it? Ramis, i assume?
  5. I love how everyone in the media is trying to make KW look foolish for trading for one of the top 5 pitchers in baseball. Heyman: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writ...ex.html?eref=T1 Verducci: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writ...ikes/index.html
  6. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 22, 2009 -> 01:50 PM) I'm curious, how open did he leave the door if at all? Did he basically puke-up his statement from last night? (which I expect and understand) The door sounded closed. Peavy wants to go to the NL.
  7. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ May 22, 2009 -> 01:50 PM) Hmmm...coming from the agent. I don't buy it. It was incredibly disingenuous. I didn’t buy it for a second.
  8. Axelrod said that Peavy asked KW some pointed questions. About Dye being traded, Thome's Future, ETC, and was well aware of Danks' and Floyd's potential. IT was also said that Peavy picked up the phone ready to say no, and that KW nearly convinced him.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 22, 2009 -> 12:11 PM) Our AA team is an extremely impressive array of talent, probably one of the best minor league teams we've ever had. We strongly matchup to some of the better teams the Athletics AA has fielded in recent years. That's saying something.
  10. I wish the PTBNL list had leaked. It would suck for the kids to hear that they were on it, but i for one would love to know what direction this thing was going in.
  11. The fact is the White Sox publically derided Javy while he was still on the damn team. To do that and still get some damn good value out of him is not only great, but also a clear sign that KW knows exactly what he's doing. Also, we talking Batting Average here? Really? Have you seen Flowers' OPS? The guy's a below average fielder, but he's learning that damn position and giving you a balls out offensive performance, with AJ reaching his twilight years and swinging at nearly everything can we really afford to complain here?
  12. An ace is ace. Even if said ace is a coward. If we could rework the option year, and cut out this bulls*** opt out after every year nonsense then i'd be go for a second go around.
  13. Didn't Josh Fields personally pummel the Pirates back in 2007? That"s what i want to see.
  14. I want the Cubs to put up 2005 runs tonight. Then i want the Pads do put up 1908 back to back. Think he'll get the message?
  15. QUOTE (tommy @ May 22, 2009 -> 01:58 AM) I agree I want the outfield of CQ / BA / JD Do we keep Pods as a back up, pinch runner (hes gotten picked off in 3 straight games) and say bye to Wise? Yes, Wise has proven nothing, and while Pods is close to done it's possible there's still a bit of lightning in that bottle. Enough to make him a worthwhile 4th-OF.
  16. BA is the only answer if he's healthy.
  17. I like A-Gonzalez, but i'd find it hilarious for him to get hurt directly after Peavy is a coward-gate.
  18. With the way Mitch Atkins is pitching, right now, Their is no shot that the Cubs land Peavy. Apart from Vitters every piece of that already unrealistic trade is playing themselves out of value.
  19. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 22, 2009 -> 12:58 AM) Add Gookie Dawkins to your sig, traded for future considerations to make room for Lillibridge. No! Who's next Keith Ginter? Will someone put an end to this kid's reign of terror?
  20. In tonight's game Gywnn Jr got a standing O and then Hairston walked it off for a single.
  21. QUOTE (Brian @ May 21, 2009 -> 10:07 PM) Are Cub fans glad Fontenot is playing everyday now? He's a good hitter, i think he'll be okay when he works his s*** out. The real problem is Lee, A-Ram, Dempster and the bullpen.
  22. QUOTE (tommy @ May 22, 2009 -> 12:50 AM) Both Kenny and Axelrod are not trying to burn bridges I guess? Everybody's walking the tightrope, at the end of the day these guys still want to be civil with each other and that's very encouraging to hear. What's also interesting is that Ozzie hasn't said a word about this. No rant, no reaction, nothing. Maybe he's been gagged, because i'm sure he's been approached for comment.
  23. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ May 21, 2009 -> 11:19 PM) Maybe KW should look into a Brandon Webb when he is off the DL....then again he is having some shoulder issues. Coo- Herm can fix him.

QUOTE (Brian @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:25 PM) Remember the girl that played the TX was suppose to become a big star after that? I think she does TV movies on SciFi. That said, I'd hit it. I believe she's a lesbian, Brian. I'm sorry for your loss.
