  1. I love how quickly we stole the Cubs thunder.
  2. Heh, Padres fans are pissed about Beckham not being in the deal.
  3. QUOTE (Brian @ May 21, 2009 -> 11:16 AM) AMazing what can happen, if it happens, so fast. Was at work at 6 and a guy came up and asked if I heard about it. I doubted him but as the day went on, it snowballed. Unreal. Under contract til 2012, correct? Yep, guaranteed money too.
  4. It sounds like Brinkey did everything we could of asked of him in that call to Jake.
  5. QUOTE (Sockin @ May 21, 2009 -> 11:03 AM) ESPN reporting Peavy called Linebrink to ask him what it's like in Chicago, Peavy said he received strong feedback. That's the most encouraging piece of information we've had in a while.
  6. Peavy's played with Blum, Haeger, Cameron, Mackoviak, Adkins and Iguchi, i wonder what's he heard from them to scare him off?
  7. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 21, 2009 -> 10:50 AM) Why isn't Ozzie on the phone talking about any concerns Peavy might have? Although this call, and Ozzie's inability to be understood could hurt the deal, too. Maybe they could do a subtitled tele-conference, Or Ozzie Jr coulr just translate.
  8. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 21, 2009 -> 10:43 AM) From where? The Score.
  9. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 21, 2009 -> 10:42 AM) I think peavy & oswalt go hunting every year somewhere near Champaign, cause they seem to be spotted once a year at Kam's...maybe that will help convince him to come to Chicago? I bet we could get Oswalt too .... Kidding?
  10. I'm hearing four players. Poreda, Richard and Two Prospects. Gordon Beckham is not involved.
  11. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ May 21, 2009 -> 10:33 AM) Not a great idea if it doesn't go through. Yep, isn't this exactly what happened with Jay Cutler?
  12. If KW gets Peavy, i want a Mea Culpa from all the posters who were talking s*** about KW's desire to compete. Their's no doubt that he's made mistakes, but the guy hates to lose.
  13. QUOTE (Maverick0984 @ May 21, 2009 -> 10:26 AM) About a dozen people have posted that the trade is "done" and we're waiting for Peavy to agree, we get it....stop posting the same info Wait. Hold Up. Did someone just say that this trade is done and we're waiting approval from Peavy. WHATTTTTTT!!!!
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 21, 2009 -> 10:22 AM) It was said Eck and Getz may swap teams here to we can lead off with Eck. While i'm impressed with Eckstein's ability to pull the ball seemingly no matter where it's thrown, the fact is that if Getz is gone and Nix is not starting, someone deserves to be fired.

    Books Thread

I could read the s*** out of a book while on the toilet.
  16. Uh-oh, sounds like Peavy dismissed the trade. f***.
  17. QUOTE (JoeCredeYes @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:56 AM) Nobody else catch this? Clearly, i'm trying to express how much i love Beckham. No way was this a mistake.
  18. QUOTE (Maverick0984 @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:51 AM) AND Dye? That would be redonkulous. Perhaps, but his contract is massive, and we could probably move Giles come deadline.
  19. QUOTE (Maverick0984 @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:46 AM) That sounds awful to me... I actually think that's fair. Giles is just now starting to hit, and his numbers will experience some severe inflation in the Cell. Best case scenario for Poreda and Richard's combined numbers could be Peavy, and Getz remains something of an enigma.
  20. I'd have reservations with trading Beckham, Slayer, Allen, Flowers, Danks and Viciedo. And i'd really miss Poreda but we're talking Jake Peavy, here. This isn't SeaWorld, guys. This is as real as it gets.
  21. Coop just said he has nothing on paper, but he imagines he'll be here for four more years. Nothing is 100% certain.
  22. Half of the Cubs talks for Padres didn't even involve their best prospect Josh Vitters, and instead focused on marginal/above average pitchers like Kevin Hart, and Sean Marshall. This could be the direction the package is going in.
  23. Off Topic, but i love Coop. I'd let this organization live and die with this man, and 95 times out of 100 we'd live.
  24. I was watching some Strasburg highlights, and he has a terrible tendency to hang his curve right at the knees. Hell, yea i'd still draft him first, but they need to look out for that.
