  1. QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 19, 2009 -> 08:41 PM) Wasted effort. He's got bad taste in women too. I saw him in Walmart after a game shopping with his girlfriend. Hey, he needs to spend that signing bonus somewhere. Apparently not on prostitutes.
  2. Why am i happy, right now? This team is such a cocktease.
  3. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ May 19, 2009 -> 08:34 PM) Put it on the board... YESSSSS!!!! BOMB.
  4. QUOTE (whitesoxmanager @ May 19, 2009 -> 08:29 PM) just curious....all whitesox fans hate the LA Lakers right? Yes, because we're mostly Bulls fans too. Jim Thome>The Shift.
  5. Was that Hawk's first Gomez shoutout today? Someone keep count. Also, Fields needs to start taking the first pitch, same with AJ.
  6. Here i am. Breaking the Nirvana trend. Rooting for Kyle McCulloch.
  7. Everytime i hear about Denard Span, i think of that legenday draft day section in Moneyball, where Span's agent makes a horrible miscalculation over his clients value, that drops Span about 15 spots in the draft. One of my favorite quotes came from that, "Span f***ed US."
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 19, 2009 -> 07:49 PM) Either way...if we're just hanging around 3rd in the division, KW will do something at the deadline. I don't know which direction it will be, but think about his history...in 2003, 2004 when we were sort of in-between, he went out and grabbed people and gambled. I think this is somewhat similiar to what Billy Beane did with the A's last year. They experienced early sucess, but Beane thought they couldn't keep pace long-term and sold nearly all of his assets. I think KW will do something similiar even if we start to win. The huge difference, of course, is our division.
  9. QUOTE (tommy @ May 19, 2009 -> 08:08 PM) I thought Crede had back problems? He's in the lineup hitting 5th? He wouldn't miss this series even if he had to take the field in a wheelchair.
  10. I’m going to preface this by saying I’m not behind this idea and it’s just a hypothetical: If the Cardinals called you (the White Sox GM) and offered you Colby Rasmus for Mark Buehrle would you hang up the phone?
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 19, 2009 -> 05:34 PM) I didnt see him make that correlation at all. Both of those guys had WAYYYYY better stuff than Poreda does. Personally I was hoping we'd trade Poreda this season if we were in contention for that last piece. Poreda is not on the same plane as both those guys, but Molto seemed to find damning evidence in that these mechanically flawed pitcher, both pitched spectacularly well before they got hurt. While injuries are certainly nothing to be shrugged over, I’d be more then pleased to see Poreda produce similar production even under a risk of injury that I don’t find inevitable. We should at least give him the benefit of a major league appearance before being bashing him on a message board.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ May 19, 2009 -> 03:38 PM) Really, Fields in the 2nd spot again? Why not give that spot to Alexei to see if that can get him going. Haven’t you heard? Hitting Alexei second or having him play center would stunt his development and/or cause the world to implode. Silly man.
  13. QUOTE (Molto @ May 19, 2009 -> 04:47 PM) Two guys I was pretty loud about when it came to their future health when they first broke the bigs, and a few can back me on this, were Wood and Liriano. So you dislike Poreda, because his mechanics remind you of that of both Liriano and Wood, two pitcher who have/had demonstrated that they were fantastic talents at the major league level, who both pitched their teams into playoff, and went down with an injury for a variety of reasons, one of which was being horribly overworked? I’ll take some Wood-like years from Poreda.

    LOST!!!!

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 16, 2009 -> 05:38 PM) I don't know how much of a role he can play. The actor who plays Walt was pretty bad the last few times we've seen him. It doesn't matter, they have to live with it. They clearly established Walt as a huge force in season 1, anything else then Walt rejoining the cast as a regular would be a gigantic failing on the part of the writers.
  15. This team kills Baker. That's not a statement, it's a suggestion. That's one way to get to a pitcher.
  16. Anyone know who the MVP of the Cape Cod League was last year?
  17. As if Charlotte could get any worse...
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 19, 2009 -> 12:52 PM) I'll just say that in two of the last three years I've seen a lifeless team. Last year we didn't see that because there were some more vocal guys and those guys were shipped out. . This is kind of an irrational rant, but I'm in a mood and I won't spare you. There's something to be said about Swisher's attitude and what it brought to this team. Personally, I thing the whole chemistry issue is bulls***, winning brings chemistry. It's just... the clubhouse seems to lack any fundamental sort of enthusiasm for the game. This is only natural, right now, they're losing and they're losing bad, but who doesn't miss the nicknames, the cutouts, ETC? Yes, all that was kind of replaced at the end of the year by the massive slump and the Q is injured malaise, but I remember the first couple months of last year being an absolute blast to watch once things seemed to hit a stride.. We still have attitude: Aj is AJ, BA and Dotel are hilarious, and god knows what happens in the clubhouse, but publically the team's image is less than ideal, they seem dead. Ozzie is depressed, Konerko is mad, everyone else just seems resigned, all I can remember is the days after the Toronto series with Swish looking like a buffoon, saying something to the effect of, "We'll get 'em next time."" on Comcast Sports Live. It was silly, but it worked. Maybe Swish brought something to this team, even if didn't bring great results for the team.
  19. I think our priority should be getting a Poreda type-arm or a toolsy OF. It doesn't matter whether we draft a project, as long as the potential is their for great things.
