  1. Why is Lillibridge in the lineup and why is he hitting second?
  2. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 10, 2009 -> 11:20 PM) Homer Bailey is too much of a project from what I understand, but good thinkin. Who do we seriously match up with? Bailey's no more a project then Danks and Floyd were. if anything he has more potential then both of them.
  3. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 10, 2009 -> 05:02 PM) He wasn't really holding back tears but rather just sounded extremely disappointed and sad. His voice cracked a bit. I think having to send down Jose took a lot out of him.
  4. QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 10, 2009 -> 05:00 PM) This is Fernando's third year in B'ham. With a brief inning for the Oakland A's thrown in too.
  5. Micah Owing just worked a beautiful at-bat (9 pitches) in the 9th inning with two outs, and then BLASTS a home-run.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ May 10, 2009 -> 04:37 PM) Griffey just hit a 2 run homer to tie it at Minnesota, and he hit it in the hole for the Subway sign for someone to win $25k. The Kid's still got that pop. That ball was crushed.
  7. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ May 10, 2009 -> 04:32 PM) Do you guys remember what he looked like in CF last year? I really can't. He's also having a hard enough time at the plate, I doubt it would help him. He's the lesser of many (non-BA) evils. And this Suckfest is OVAH.
  8. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ May 10, 2009 -> 04:17 PM) Oh yeah, I forgot how he has been tearing it up so far. You're right. Podsednix and Lillibridge are awesome options, and Jayson Nix doesn't deserve to play over them. We have a lot invested in Alexei, Pods and Lillibridge? Not so much.
  9. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ May 10, 2009 -> 04:13 PM) Who would you suggest to play CF then? Alexei Ramirez.
  10. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 10, 2009 -> 04:11 PM) exactly. Which is why even if this team did decide to wave the white flag and start making trades, i have little confidence in their ability to make good ones. It does help having Buddy Bell around, though. We have KW. I have faith. As long as the person involved in the trade is not Nick Swisher.
  11. Gets Kinsler to ground to Ramirez. Definitley worth that pick.
  12. QUOTE (knightni @ May 10, 2009 -> 03:58 PM) Just think of the draft pick we can get next year. Too bad the best players hire Boras. Bryce Harper. I'd bask in that glory.
  13. QUOTE (tommy @ May 10, 2009 -> 03:57 PM) Remember how Hawk was saying that Ozzie hasn't been this excited ever in the spring training, how this team has a lot of potential. Ladies and gentleman we are playing ugly baseball. Shutouts and one hitters are no FUN to watch, I hope you're reading this Jerry Reinsdorf. I think Ozzie thinks (or wants to think that) he's managing a team like the Marlins. He's looking for that mix of power and speed, but fails to realize that he's compromising the ballgame by giving AB's to Pods and Lillibridge. Instead, we should be more like Weaver's Orioles, or even the current Jays and Cubs. We need to take pitches and drive the damn ball that's where we succeed.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 10, 2009 -> 02:18 PM) The big problem with that line of thinking is...how has buying the talent worked for the Yankees over the past 10 years? Even the Yankees haven't been able to buy enough talent to win a world series. Even the Yankees need a supply of young guys to fill holes or give them quality replacements or trade-bait. I think there's a very fine line that you have to walk. The Yankees basically sign people all willy-nilly, but with little thought to lineup construction. When they had success they had a decent balance between starts, non-stars, and rookies. The Cubs had this okay, back when they were healthy, but upper managements backup plans seems to be people like Miles, Freel, ETC. I think their's better, marginal players out their.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ May 10, 2009 -> 03:41 PM) Looks like it will be Broadway starting. I can't believe KW and Ozzie had a meeting and go "you know what, Broadway gives us the best chance to win a game as a starter". It's not like Richard and Carrasco are helping the Sox win games right now, as they only pitch in defeats. Nah, they said "Let's cover our asses for the Broadway pick." Let's try to get something out of him that'll look good on a baseball card.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ May 10, 2009 -> 10:44 AM) I've been saying that for a while. Theriot seems like a good guy, as he seems like someone who Mark Buehrle who should have never made the Majors with their skill set but have worked hard and just outsmart the opposition. D. Lee, on the other hand, is one of the biggest whiners in all of baseball. Fontenot's the same way too. The problem with the cubs it that their becoming too reliant on "grinder types." They have the money to buy talent, so they should buy the damn talent. They have nonthing in the minors that isn't one or two years away.
  17. Oliver Perez can't throw a strike, and it seems Contreras pitches way too many. Not an obvious upgrade, but certainly in the Coop can Fix 'Em brand. I do wonder if Phil Hughes continues to be hit around, if he'll ever be on the market. Patience wears thin in New York.
  18. Richard has the minor-league pedigree, i think he has the potential to succeed here, if he get's the slider over, and gets his fastball inside, he'll do very well.
  19. Anyone up for explaining Lillibridge over Kroeger? We just calling it, "an Ozzie being Ozzie?"
  20. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ May 10, 2009 -> 01:46 AM) If AJP bats 2nd again I may vomit Why? It's not like he swings at EVERYTHING. Oh. wait...
  21. I imagine Poreda will be in the rotation at some point. Other then that, assuming we're still middling i assume KW will revisit the Bailey talks.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ May 10, 2009 -> 12:02 AM) Justin Timberlake is an amazing SNL host. Happy Mother Lover's Day. Just make him a castmember. The show would be better for it.
  23. Chad Fox. Fool 'em once, fool 'em twice, fool em' three times?
