  1. Originally, it was rumored that Dickerson would come along with Bailey in a Dye trade. Clearly, Dickerson alone is not worth Dye. It's hard to gauge the kids' value, but he's a great athlete and would look good with a Sox cap on.
  2. I like Kershaw A LOT. That's why i drafted the kid. That curveball was sent by the gods, Floyd's can't even touch that thing.
  3. Great point, Fathom. Money is not as big a problem for the Cubs as it used to be.
  4. If the Cubs don't make it to the top in two years, they better hope like hell Vitters is a monster. Soto, Theriot, and Fontenot are not going to cut it if all their other players start breaking down.
  5. I'd do Shelby, Russell, and Fernando Hernandez, see if they bite.
  6. I kinda like this... he'd be a monster in the field. And our guys might rub off on him.
  7. I had a lot of respect for Hillman because he actually acknowledged the importance of OBP. Sadly, he has no idea how to apply it, and his GM has no idea how to obtain it. Hillman's bullpen use is incredibly shaky, they have the best young closer in the league, and they underuse him, leaving way too much room for the Farnsworth's of the world to blow whatever lead they have.
  8. Danks and Morel should be fun too track.
  9. Apart from the pitching, there seems to be a lot of suckage going down in Charlotte.
  10. QUOTE (Felix @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 05:28 PM) Why would the ideal world have Alexei getting the least at-bats of all the starters? This ideal world is also, sadly, a Twins-ruled world.
  11. Has Richard learned the Cutter yet? He’s incredibly effective when he throws inside, and if he can get a Cutter in and around the hands of hitters, he’d be a much improved pitcher.
  12. QUOTE (qwerty @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 05:13 PM) Just so people realize, once getz take over leading off, our two hole will also be very bad, not wise bad, but bad. Pierzynski is far from ideal and definitely not someone you want getting the second most at-bats on the team. What it comes down to though... Getz Wise Pierznyski > Getz Put Alexei 2nd. Problem solved.
  13. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 04:58 PM) All you have to do is watch when we play the Angels. I'm actually an Ozzie fan because I believe the most important thing a manager can do is motivate players, but when it comes to managing in a game, just watch Scoscia. Plus whoever else they've got on the bench does a fine job as well because they must steal on average of 1 sign per game in a series. I find Scoscia to be one of the most overrated managers in the game, his offensive philosophy is swing like hell at everything, and too often is he giving away too many outs on the base paths. Their playoff series versus the Red Sox is a fantastic example of this. Meanwhile, while I don’t think Ozzie is a great X’s and O’s guy, I think he has a fantastic ability to get the most out of players when he needs it the most. Unfortunately, too often he goes by gut feelings, ala Wise is a good player. Swisher needs to sit, ETC/
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 05:00 PM) The people I went with didn't care for me or the Sox and I really wanted to see Fast & Furious. I wasn't going to get another chance this week either...so there was no other option. I was seriously hoping that the theaters would have wifi and let me see the score through my iPod touch. Didn't happen. Oh well. Fast and the Furious? Really? The Sox gods offer you no forgiveness.
  15. Hell of a game. Wish i could have seen it. You were wrong, Mr. Melton. We will be winning games with the longball. Hopefully, many more to come.
  16. Got my Sox hat, my World Series sweatshirt, my swim trunks, and my flippy floppies, and I’m ready for game time
  17. Floyd had some journey on his way to becoming a number #2 starter. Good for him.
  18. My very first regular-season game thread. Take it easy on me, folks, and let's come away with a W.
  19. QUOTE (lord chas @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 08:33 PM) so you have multiple favorite cub players? Don't have to like the team to admit that Marmol has nasty stuff, and Fontenot's a good player.
  20. THe Mariners look okay now, but their future is bleak. Especially with their new Gm's move to convert Morrow and Aumont permanently to relief.
  21. 1) Sox 2) Twins Big Gap 3) Tigers Small Gap 4)Indians 5)Royals
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 08:01 PM) Think the Blue Jays will finish ahead of the O's? I think I'll take the young and hungry team over the team watching its parts leave due to budget cuts most years. Yeah, i think the Jays'll still do it. Lind and Snider are two great young hitters. Plus, barring a trade of Halladay they can probably string a decent pitching staff together.
  23. Mike Fontenot is a great little hitter. My favorite Cub other then Marmol.
  24. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 07:04 PM) I'm not the only one. Craziness. Thirded. Best raw stuff on the team.
