  1. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Mar 29, 2009 -> 03:16 PM) Gregg named closer by Lou today.... The right choice, if you ask me. Marmol is dominant as a set-up man.
  2. I'm still wondering if we can really write Prior off as a failure. He did have a couple wonderful years, and pitch his team into the playoffs. Ultimately, he was an injury-prone, spineless tool, but can we call him a bust even with that track record?
  3. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Mar 27, 2009 -> 09:34 AM) I just can't understand how anyone could pick the Sox to finish in first this year given this team's overperformance last season and the current roster. You do realize that the Twins were incredibly lucky last year, the Indians have no 3, 4,5 starters, the Tigers have pitching question marks, and Brandon Inge playing third, and the Royals are well, the Royals, right? I can see putting more faith in Liriano, Baker, Slowey, Blackburn, and Perkins, but Lee, Carmona, Pavano, Lewis, and Reyes? Or Verlander, Jackson, Bonderman, Robertson/Miner, Willis? Even Meche, Greinke, Hovecher, Davies, and Ponson are in no ways leaps and bounds over what the Sox have. We have legitimate change of winning this year with this roster. Even if we didn’t have Q, or Konerko, or Dye I’d still have hope. Why? Because we have Kenny Williams.
  4. I just manually updated MVP 05 again. What i do is take the Pecota Comparables for young players, and average their stats. I did this for Q and he hit .290 30 homers and 100 RBI's. Awesome.
  5. With the amount of holes the Indians have it's absurd how much of the benefit of the doubt they've gotten this offseason. Do people really think Lee's season is replicable? That Carmona's one good year wasn't a fluke? It's just weird the faith writers have in them.

I'd add Alfonso Cuaron to the WTWTA move mix as well.
  7. Betemit can play short, just not very well. If we put him out their once a week, it's not going to kill us, especially if he keeps hitting.
  8. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Mar 25, 2009 -> 07:31 PM) It's funny, the Yankees really seem to have no love for Melky Cabrera because they're always dangling him, yet they seem to think everyone else considers him a god. Thus they never actually trade him because they ask the universe for him. I think the Yankees are a really bass-ackwards organization about a lot of things and they mask it with $$$ (as they should, since they can't build an organization the regular way and the rules allow them to do it this way). I know I'm the first person to EVER say this about the Yankees. I just think this is a really good example of their other ineptitudes. The Yankees do this over-inflation crap every couple years. Anyone remember Bubba Crosby?
  9. I'm in the Fields/BA camp. Josh is really developing into a great all-around ballplayer.
  10. Did Melton just say we wouldn't win many ball games via the Homerun? Seriously?
  11. F$%Y@@!(%G Wise. Why did that have to happen?
  12. Anderson stuff is really hanging this inning.
  13. Thome crushes a double off the wall in left-center.
  14. I'd say Colon's hitting 93 at this point. He's missing high, which is a bit troubling, but his curve is dropping nicely.
  15. QUOTE (BUZZ @ Mar 25, 2009 -> 04:26 PM) 1. Jerry Owens/Dewayne Wise 2. AJ 3.Quentin 4.JD 5.Jimbo 6.Alexei 7.Paulie 8.Fields 9.Getz Q will be hitting a lot of solo homeruns this year, won't he?
  16. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Mar 24, 2009 -> 03:17 PM) http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/...director_o.html If this guy gets re-elected Ct voters may be dumber than Illinois voters. Trust me, they are.
  17. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Mar 25, 2009 -> 12:35 PM) I know Swish was brutal last year but considering the other options we are left with,it was a mistake to get rid of him,I believe he would've had a good comeback year for us...he couldn't be worse than what he did last year... Look, at the Swisher trade as less of a trade and as more of divorce between Swish and Ozzie. Then it makes more sense. I still don’t like it though.
  18. I love your lineup, Rock. Only i'd do it Q, Dye, Thome, Konerko according to Baseball Musings lineup generator, that's the best case scenario.
  19. Anyone know if Durham's knees are better? He played a game there in San Fran, and the A's did have internal discussions about putting him their after the trade. He wouldn't be the best option, wouldn't be the worst either. Given his age, i'd still rather have BA out there.
  20. How is averaging 2000 people per game not a failure? Dolphin Stadium is in a suburban area, with a surrounding population that is uninterested in baseball. The next one needs to be in a more active part of the state.
  21. The new stadium needs to be in a well-populated, retail centric place like Petco Field. Otherwise, it's doomed to fail like the last one.
  22. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Mar 24, 2009 -> 05:15 PM) Maybe so and it looks like he is losing out to Nady to start in the OF for the Yankmees. Bring him back and give him another shot at it in Chitown. He would probbaly come cheap. (like for Chris Stewart maybe?) He's actually outhitting and walking Nady. Girardi already made up his mind. I think their's a key difference in personality between he and Ozzie. I don't think Swisher takes things as seriously as Ozzie'd like him too. So, when things got bad last year, and Swish was still joking around i imagine it pissed Ozzie off, and then when Swish sulked for a couple days post-benching that was the straw that broke the camel's back.
  23. The reason Kroeger has yet to play CF in the major leagues is because ever team he was on previously had a log-jam there. The D-Backs had Steve Finley, Danny Bautista then Chris Young, the Cubs had Jacque Jones, Felix Pie and Fukudome.
