  1. Vitter has damn good potential, so does Beckham, trouble is that Beckham has already showed some of his. All Vitters has done is hit a fair amount of doubles, and shows a good arm.
  2. Lillibridge played CF in high school so it isn't really as much a matter to convert him then to just give him a shot to win that job.
  3. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Feb 2, 2009 -> 12:06 PM) Hawk been hitting the tanning bed? Mercy. Is he really even looking at the Camera? The only thing is his eyeline would be feet. Also, the man's got guts for letting his lady near BA.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 2, 2009 -> 01:35 PM) Springstein's balls vs. camera. I’m going to say something controversial here, but I didn’t think too much of his performance last night. He looked like he was having a ball (so did his balls), but the voice, the music just wasn’t there for me.
  5. QUOTE (False Alarm @ Feb 2, 2009 -> 12:16 PM) http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=8459 Is the highest we've ever seen Brandon Allen rated? That's great news for the organization.

  7. The most important call of the year, and they don’t take 30 seconds to review it? Ridiculous
  8. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 30, 2009 -> 04:06 AM) I love it when I wake up expecting it to be time to get up, but instead I still have 3 more hours of sleep. YES. I love it when I wake up ready to go to work and then realize it's an off day. YES Two of the best feelings in the world. Good Post.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 1, 2009 -> 01:08 PM) This actually doesn't sound bad. Wise is a decent player. Ah, yes. These are the signs of a decent player. http://www.baseball-reference.com/w/wisede01.shtml. The only thing Wise has going for him was a hot two weeks and a good round in the playoffs. Otherwise, he has shown nonthing at the Major League Level. If the choice is between him, Owens, and Anderson, then the answer is always BA. It concerns me greatly that Ozzie doesn't see this.
  10. I was really hoping we’d stop hearing about Phelps soon. No such luck.
  11. QUOTE (sircaffey @ Jan 31, 2009 -> 03:43 PM) Friedman has to be there. It's astonishing to see what he's built the Rays into with the restraints he has. That organization was a joke just 10 years ago, and right now, it might be the best run organization in the majors, top to bottom. No one's done a better job of building their club, imo. I agree that Friedman is talented, but can we really put him in the top tier when he's only had one winning season? If I see continued success next year then, yeah, I’d be more then accepting of Friedman’s place up there, but for now with one season (a great one) I’d put him in the second tier.
  12. QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Jan 31, 2009 -> 02:50 PM) I think Mark Shapiro is awful. Particularly because of Borowski and then the follow up, Kerry Wood. Awful. You do realize Kerry Wood is still a good pitcher, right? They're not paying the guy a tremendous amount, and they've got enough depth to compensate for any injury problems he might had. I actually think the Indians have had a pretty good offseason. As for the list, i'd say both Friedman and Dombrowski are too high. Friedman's had one winning season, yeah it was the World Series, but i'd like to see more consistancy. Dombrowski's just a complete moron.
  13. Devin Hester's kickoff return were some of the best 15 second of my life. Sadly, the game went downhill after that. Other highlights of the playoff run were Berrian's catch vs the Saints, and Robbie "good as" Gould's performance VS the Seahawks

QUOTE (BobDylan @ Jan 29, 2009 -> 08:44 PM) Only good part was the ending, IMO. That was one of the most screwed up endings I have ever seen. Thought it was a solid film, despite some of the characters being caricatures. I actually enjoyed just how weak of a leader Thomas Jane was in this movie. The guy wasn’t inspiring anyone, just surviving.

Gonna watch The Mist with a friend in about an hour. I'll tell you how it goes.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 29, 2009 -> 12:04 PM) If I am the Pads, a 26-27 year old swingman who isnt that great in the NL isnt what I am looking for when shopping one of the best pitchers in baseball. While i think you're not giving Marshall enough credit here, i agree with your general premise. The simple fact is that Marshall and the Derosa Trio are not enough. The Shark will not be traded, Hill pretty much cannot, and the Cubs have ri d themselves of almost every high-upside arm in their system. When you're biggest pitching prospect is Mitch Atkins you have a problem.
  17. QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 01:54 PM) I may be in the minority but I still believe the Cubs will land Peavy. All this move does is allow the Cubs (who have about 14 bullpen pitchers for 7 spots) to send Samardijza down to AAA this year to work on becoming a starter for 2010 (they won't re-sign Harden and Lilly will be in his final year of his contract in 2010). The difference between the Roberts rumors last year and the Peavy rumors this year is the O's didn't have to trade Roberts where as the Pads have to cut their payroll by $30 mil. To be honest I think a deal is already in place and as soon as the new owner becomes official, it will be done. No way does Samardijza get sent down to AAA for a year, Not after what he did for them last year.
  18. The Mariners are having an awesome offseason. I really like the way this new GM is thinking.
  19. Are we seriously still going to be complaining about a couple errors if Fields can even come close to replicating the offensive numbers of his rookie season?

    LOST!!!!

I just started up a LOST Marathon of all four season, and the writers are gonna have a hell of a job covering everything in the 33 episodes that they have left. Anyone remember Sawyer’s Tampa Job, Libby’s psyche ward experience, the supply drops, the Degroots, and the Other’s runway? None of these mysteries really seem like priorities anymore. I’ve still got faith in the writers; I really hope they have time to cover everything.
  21. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 24, 2009 -> 05:50 PM) I religiously watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer when it was on, and i rewatched the entire series when it came out on DVD. I think it was better written than 95% of the stuff that makes it to tv. Since when did watching one of the best shows in the history of television become a guilty pleasure?
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 24, 2009 -> 04:48 PM) Lyon's signing made me think about Linebrink. He got 4 years, 19 mill last year. He got his contract at the right time. No way he'd get that now. Linebrink has better stuff then Lyon. Lyon relies on being crafty.
  23. I can finally befriend David Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaardsma.
  24. QUOTE (farmteam @ Jan 24, 2009 -> 05:41 PM) Hell yes! Saw them live last summer, they were great, had a lot of energy and played well. In no way am I less of a man for loving songs like Found About You, Follow You Down, Hey Jealously and Till I Hear it From You! Their new album is fairly decent too although Let’s Play Two may be one of the worst songs ever recorded. We should probably take this to the music thread…
