  1. This is a decent deal for the Nats. Cabrera sucks yeah, but so does the rest of the Nats pitching staff. If he sucks less then the rest of them they stand to profit... somehow.
  2. More of the same for the Reds in terms of OF talks. Still looking for a power bat, concerned wit Baldelli's health and willing to explore Hairston in LF. Taveras in CF and Hairston in LF? They'll never learn will they? http://www.thelotd.com/ctrent/blog/2008/12...t_jocketty_1227
  3. This deal doesn't make a whole lot of sense for Johnson for a record perspective. He'll be lucky to win 9 in San Fran, and had a more then decent chance of winning at least 13 with the Cubbies.
  4. I guess Taveras is an upgrade over Norris Hopper so good for the Reds. But the White Sox didn't get Taveras so better for us.
  5. QUOTE (farmteam @ Dec 20, 2008 -> 01:48 AM) Yeah, and Closing Time is the first track on it. I don't think that's even my favorite on the album, there's some good ones there. Minneapolis has put out some damn good bands, IMO. I have a soft spot for Never You Mind. It's a shame that it got overshadowed by the commercial sucess of songs like Closing Time, Secret Smile, and Singing in My Sleep. Also, Chemistry (different album) is one of the catchiest songs ever written.
  6. I agree with your premise Rock, but the Celtics are the best defensive team in the league.
  7. Scioscia is one of the least fundamentally sound baseball managers out there. He's a terrible tactician and his players are incredibly undisciplined. That being said, he's a very good leader of men and controls the clubhouse perfectly. He's definitely helped by having a GM with enormous expectations and an owner with wide pockets.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Dec 19, 2008 -> 05:13 PM) I loved it as well. I enjoyed the first hand perspective of the attack, even through all the moments of queasiness. It's one of those movies I can envision myself watching over and over again when it's on TNT Saturday night someday. I have it on my video I-Pod. So anytime i'm bored i can switch it on. It's probably in my top ten of all movies, and i can't see myself getting sick of it.
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 19, 2008 -> 08:29 AM) This sounds straight. I wish there was a minor league baseball network. I agree 100%. There's gotta be a decent market for that too. I'd love to watch these kids play in semi-professional quality.
  10. QUOTE (farmteam @ Dec 19, 2008 -> 02:12 AM) Feeling Strange Fine is a good little album. Semisonic, right? Vastly underated band. Which is suprising given how much Closing Time seemed to polarize the entire 90's generation

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Dec 19, 2008 -> 03:44 PM) Probably because of how awful it was I very much disagree, but i'm not suprised. It's very much a love it or hate it kind of film
  12. QUOTE (wilmot825 @ Dec 19, 2008 -> 03:37 PM) Didn't like how there was no "sound" for game 163. Otherwise solid video If you want i can loop a clip of me saying, "John Danks, why are you so awesome?" Through the entire game.

QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Dec 19, 2008 -> 01:30 PM) Being bored back home I found Cloverfield on Blu Ray. I want my 84 minutes back. That movie was complete crap. At least it makes those South Park episodes funnier. WHAT? How can you not like Cloverfield?
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 19, 2008 -> 02:14 PM) I wonder what KW has up his sleeve. We are not a better team right now than the end of teh season. Really, you don't think we'd of been better off with Q in LF and a healthy Fields at 3b instead of Wise and Uribe? We were a broken team at the end of last season.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 19, 2008 -> 01:43 AM) Don't forget Carasco...and KW is really high on Nunez (Yankees), and Jimenez (Blue Jays) to a lesser extent. I think we'll see both of those pitchers with the Sox before we see Link this year, unless he has an incredible spring. Heck, Russell or Wasserman could factor in there, too, before Link. Did we bring back Carrasco? I thought we might, but i think we declined an option. Still a chance for him to come back, i guess.
  16. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 19, 2008 -> 03:20 AM) fwiw, Mark Buehrle is not an ace Nor is Garland, but yes, Danks'll be our #1 starter in two to three years.

So I just watched Fantastic Four 2. Needless to say it was not the best decision I’ve ever made.
  18. This came as a bit of shock. It seems a given that everytime the Yankees move, the Red Sox counter. That being said it is in the Red Sox's best interest not to overpay for Texiera. The race just got more interesting though
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 11:53 PM) I like when studs like Bobby fight back. It's easy to be an expert from a computer or from the stands. Bobby is a stud. Where else can one be an expert? Should i assume the TV?
  20. One of the Red main targets Juan Riviera is on the verge of being resigned by the Angels. This could limit their options even more.
  21. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 09:26 PM) What in the f*** is thundersleet? My nickname with the ladies?
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 09:52 PM) Argh, just caught a TD when I wanted another one for Wayne. Hopefully your other boys do better than Rhodes finishes. I lost my semifinal match by nine points because Witten, Johnson and Royal underperformed. Just be happy you guys are still in it.
  23. QUOTE (tommy @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 10:27 PM) Red Sox seem to be favorite in the Texiera race, so Angels might be trying to get Paulie. Nah, Red Sox look to be out. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/reds..._we_are_no.html
  24. QUOTE (chisox2334 @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 06:08 PM) http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/articl...vTXGJgD955BNOO0 hmmm... Ozzie confirms interest. That's a bit suprising to hear him just come out and say it.
