  1. I want hitters 1-9, i could care less about bunters or SB specialists. I'd take speed at the top just not at the expense of good hitters. As currently constructed i'd take. Lillibridge Ramirez Q Dye Thome Konerko AJ Fields Anderson
  2. QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Dec 13, 2008 -> 09:12 AM) Two excellent books were written by Jim Brosnan, former Cardinal, Cub, Sox, Reds reliever. The first was called The Long Season, and the second was Pennant Race. The first was actually the first of its kind, a day to day diary of a ball player's life. For a cubs fans? The Best Team Ever (about 1907 Cubs) for baseball fan? Moneyball, anything by Bill James, The Bronk is Burning (Yankees), The Bad Guys Won (Mets)
  3. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Dec 13, 2008 -> 11:22 AM) You left out arguably the best pitcher in the entire AL East, Roy Halladay. Fixed. Halladay's the best pitcher in that division
  4. QUOTE (chunk23 @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 11:14 PM) I honestly cannot believe the Astros non-tendered Ty Wigginton. Hi My Name is Ed Wade. You may remember me from the numerous instances where i've proven i'm a terrible GM. This being one of them. No suprise here. coughLidgeforBournecough
  5. I'd put my money on Armstrong, for now. They'll overlook the Righty/Lefty thing if he swings the bat during spring training.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 13, 2008 -> 07:14 AM) Join the debate. The Royals have non-tendered him. Who would you rather have batting leadoff or 9th? Getz? Taveras? Lillibridge? Brian Anderson? Gathright? Reggie Abercrombie? Explain. 1) Lillibridge 2) Anderson 3) Getz Last people on earth Gathright Reggie
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 13, 2008 -> 09:45 AM) "He should come back here," Bruce said. "He'd play center and lead off and we'd win." from mlbtraderumors This just in Jay Bruce has an insane amount of faith in Jerry Hairston.
  8. Wow, the more athletic "Willy Taveras" Joey Gathright was non-tendered too. Should we speculate about him as well or is he not grindey enough?
  9. Do the Astros really stand to benefit from not tendering to Wigginton? The guy had a a good season last year, can play multiple positions, and their best other option is Blum.
  10. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 11:57 PM) lol by research do you mean you saw the post above yours? Nah, he actually posted that while i was writing mine. I was very suprised to recieve instant validation though.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 13, 2008 -> 12:41 AM) Great, yet ANOTHER former Royal. No thanks, unless it's Mr. Soria. I don't want him, but he did have a great season last year. The Marlins are just too cheap to keep him

QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 02:58 PM) The Batman voice was annoying in the previous movie, Det. Flass: I swear to God! Batman: SWEAR TO ME!!!! Always makes me laugh
  13. More of the same on the Reds quest for an OF bat. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/2008121.../812120348/1071
  14. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 10:07 PM) I been hoping all day that Seattle will non tender Bedard.. He would be a great fit for our rotation if he is healthy Why would Seattle non tender Bedard if he's healthy?
  15. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 06:00 PM) You guys are funny. Would it make a difference if the girls were hot? Are hot girls cleaner than less attractive girls?? Well, big girls have a lot more... uh, body fat? A lot more that needs to be cleaned so.... it's a theory.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 09:50 PM) Look at all the Twins' scrubs and castoffs who have played important roles, like Tyner, Hocking, LeCroy, Lew Ford, etc. I think it's great to have one player like that on every team who gives hope to all minor leaguers that they can make it to the bigs one day, too. These players were all somewhat young and unproven. Wise is what, 32?
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 09:39 PM) So KW was pretty correct in stating that the trade for Swisher essentially was... thus, Betemit, Marquez and Nunez, substitute Viciedo's signing bonus for Swisher's 2009 contract >>> Nick Swisher (2009, and beyond) I still hate the Swish trade, but it does comfort me to know that KW had a larger plan in mind.
  18. I did more research, and i now believe that this was a terrible deal for the Phillies. For the price, the defense, and the fact that they could of gotten the same player in Burrel back by offering him arbitration. It was just a ludicrous impulsive response to the Mets getting K-Rod and Putz.
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 07:16 PM) 1. lance berkman 2. If we had a set OF, i'd take him as a 4th. You'd take an all-speed, oft-injured, no power OF in a homerun hitters park in the American League? As a 4th OF just in case Jerry Owens doesn't come through?
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 06:09 PM) Have you guys looked at the Twins roster the last few years? Nick Punto? Anyone? Anyone? How dare you call me out on my massive generalization / Nick Punto, grinder that he is, is a terrible baseball player.
  21. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 04:51 PM) LMAO I'm so glad I just stumbled upon this: I AM UP TO HERE! HERE!
  22. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 05:31 PM) if asked to pick right now, i wonder who the prognosticators would pick to win the AL CENTRAL in '09. My guess is that it will be CLE again. Sizemore and company, Lee, now Wood. A healthy Hafner (maybe). Nah, rotation's too shaky. They'll pick the Twins.
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 04:18 PM) They 100 percent have spoken to Abreu's agent. 101%, KW talks to everyone. He covers all the bases.
  24. QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 02:16 PM) I have memories of the guy being a nightmare against us. The guy can run. Those memories ere from the World Series he was the only Astros to hit well against us, unfortunately, that was also the highlight of his career. Taveras is not a serviceable ballplayer in the American League. That is all.
