  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 04:17 PM) He shouldnt even be on this team. He is a good mid season filler, but if you go into the season with Wise on your roster you are in deep trouble. Agreed. Only the Sox can have Minor League journeymen start a playoff game.
  2. QUOTE (rangercal @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 11:30 AM) If it's not broke, fix it? For the same reason they tore down old Yankee Stadium, because they can get the all-mighty doller.
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 04:59 PM) In other news, the Chicago White Stockings will have CR/AP battling it out for the #4 and #5 spots in the rotation. Yippee Here are the gems of the Starting Staffs of the Al East: HALLADAY, Joba, Burnett, Sabathia, Wong, Dick K, Beckett, Lester, Mcgowan, Marcum, Kazmir, Shields, Price, Garza Here are the gems of the Central: Lee, Buehrle, Danks, Floyd, Liriano, Baker, Meche, Greinke, Verlander, Carmona, See the Difference? We're fighting for the playoffs not five shares of the Cy Young Award.
  4. QUOTE (KevinM @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 09:23 AM) Who is Torres? You've said this more than a few times and I've got no idea who you're talking about. He means former White Sox prospect Daniel Cortes.
  5. QUOTE (MO2005 @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 09:18 AM) Free-agent outfielder Raul Ibanez has reached preliminary agreement with the Phillies on a three-year, $30 million contract, according to ESPN.com and FOX Sports. The deal, pending a physical, was reached early Friday morning. The Mets, Cubs, Nationals and Angels also were interested in Ibanez, who batted .293 with 23 homers and 110 RBIs last season for the Mariners while playing his home games at pitcher-friendly Safeco Field. Per Mlb.com Decent move for the Phillies. Being in that bandbox will lessen the importance of his defense.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 07:56 AM) Daniel Cabrera Chad Gaudin Bring it.
  7. QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 08:40 AM) I was going to mention it, lol. I've never been an Orton fan, even when he was ripping up s***ty defenses near the beginning of the season. I will concede he is better than Rex but that's all I'll say. Orton is not that good. I really hope this organization doesn't fall in love with him. There's a decent QB draft class for the next two years.
  8. Could this be the end of DJ the potential 5th starter (shudder), and the Black Ross Gload?
  9. I’ve broadcasted (called color) games, and trust me, it’s extremely difficult to make judgment calls about pitchers on the fly. Especially, pertaining to pitch type, pitch speed, and movement. Unless, you have the proper tools being a spectator is mostly just a guessing game. The best you can derive with casual interest is usually just the basic facts: he's pitching well, he looks tired, ETC.
  10. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 01:05 AM) Who would they put at SS? Lillibridge.
  11. Like something out of Fringe. This is just too cool.
  12. Do the Bears remind anyone else of the stretch run (sans TCQ)White Sox? It’s like their doing whatever they can just to get by and at this point it feels like a playoff berth would be a moral victory.
  13. Three options for Orton. Forte, Olsen, Hester in that order
  14. God, Drew Brees is just fantastic. When he's hot, he's unstoppable
  15. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 11:01 PM) Ron Turner intercepts the headphone feed to Brees' helmet. Fullback dive! fullback dive!
  16. QUOTE (rangercal @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 10:57 PM) Someone please kick collinsworth in the teeth. He's a pompous bastard, isn't he?
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 10:26 PM) It was a bad pass by Orton. Pretty sure it bounced off Davis
  18. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 10:07 PM) Duh, Bernstein reads Soxtalk. I dunno, i didn't hear the name Slayer once.
