  1. love JD, and i thank him for everything that he's done for this organization, but i really think that a deal (in the long run) is for the greater good.
  2. QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 11:14 PM) My vote goes to dickbag. He's not a member of the Dash! He's a White Sock.!
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 10:32 PM) Gotcha, I'll delete my post if you want. No need. We'd have to delete this whole exchange too. Might as well, know that we sorted this out.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 10:28 PM) If the Cubs get Peavy, they'll have the best rotation in baseball (at least for the first month). It's silly to compare our rotation to that. No matter what happens in the first 162 games for the Cubs, we can hold out hope that they've lost 9 straight playoff games and Peavy has no balls in the postseason. Sorry, I deleted the post, because yeah, it was kinda ludicrous. What I really mean is that there could be an interesting contrast between the All-Star lineup the Cubs’ll bring with the Young Guns that the White Sox could have. I think we’ll be competitive, yeah, but in no way was I equating the two. Sorry
  5. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 08:51 PM) http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage....;topic=41802729 Thanks
  6. QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 09:01 PM) It's too quiet on the Kenny Williams front. It's too quiet on every front. I'm bored out of my mind, right now. I'd even take the Peavy trade at this point.

  8. I’m trying to update MLB 2K8, but don’t have the fake prospect to real prospect names list. I know that one used to be on IGN, but I can’t find it. Any ideas?
  9. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 08:31 PM) Will the O's acquiring Freel open them up to trading Roberts? Why would getting a CF open up the 2B spot?
  10. QUOTE (Wanne @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 07:50 PM) I'd like to see Fields launch ANYBODY'S fastball 400+ feet..... Well, it's not going to happen on a breaking pitch.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 07:40 PM) http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AhGV...o&type=lgns Speculation about Kerry Wood to become new Tigers' closer. A Zumaya, Rodney, Wood combo is going to be a terror on the Tigers. At least, until we see Fields launch one of their fastballs 400 +.
  12. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 07:39 PM) I really want to get to work on a Bailey sig, so let's get this done. I'm going to see if i can get a CR/AP hybrid sig. Much love for our potental 5th starter.
  13. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 07:35 PM) They have really developed a strong chemistry. I still wish Carmen and Silvy were on, but I really enjoy Waddle and Silvy. I really wanna try some of Ditka's Sausa. That's right Sausa. i just find the whole concept/pronunciation hilarious
  14. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 07:14 PM) From MLB.com's Hot Stove Blog. That’s definitely not a rebuttal. It’s basically, confirming that there’s interest on both sides. I still think this thing goes through. If anything the pace’ll be accelerated do the amount of talk about it.
  15. Someone solve this equation Jose Valentin + Winston-Salem Purple Phallus=
  16. QUOTE (juddling @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 06:02 PM) Santo missed the HOF again.....he's already complaining and so are the Cub fans.....HAHA If you were missing hair and two limbs, you'd have a lot to complain about too.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 06:00 PM) I agree with you on Taveras. But I actually think that if you could give me a 100% healthy Willits put in to the lineup straight up for JD, he'd actually increase our run production. We'd lose a ton in the power department, but what we'd gain in OBP by putting a nearly .400 OBP in front of Quentin, Thome, and Konerko would just be absolute dynamite. If you can give us moderately healthy Konerko, Fields, Thome, G*d, and throw in Alexei while you're at it, you're still going to be talking about a 200 home run team on the south side. That type of OBP sitting in front of that power would just murder other teams. I’d like to see more of a track record at the MLB, but given that he’s averaged a .397 OPB in the Minors, there might be something to him. I’d rather have him than Taveras.
  18. QUOTE (beck72 @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 05:33 PM) SS Furcal LF Willits RF Quentin DH Thome 1b PK 2b Alexei C AJ 3b Fields CF Taveras Wow. Willitis and Taveras. On the Same Team. In the American League Central. That's a recipe for disaster. I assume you’re a proponent of the speed never slumps, bunting is awesome, camp? Why would we ever put two speed reliant guys, with an injury history in a hitter’s ballpark, where they'd be playing against strength? It's one thing to have a guy who can run the bases, but when these guys are replacing the power production of a Dye, and a Swisher then it's ludicrous to put this combo out on the field.
  19. QUOTE (scenario @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 04:37 PM) Table ranking fewest to highest for career Interesting. No wonder Oakland isn't shedding any tears over losing Street. There are a lot of former A’s closers on that list. It gives some credence to Beane’s creating a closer theory.
  20. QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 03:00 PM) What links are you guys using for the latest Sox info? Any Chicago radio feeds talking rumors today? Try Rotoworld and Mlb Rumors. ESPN is currently running Tirico/Van Pelt and WSCR is talking Bears.
  21. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 02:33 PM) Ideally, the Cubs' future should have nothing to with Santo's past. He should be in or out based on his career alone. Santo's is obviously a close case, as he has (IIRC) almost made it several times. I just happen to think "borderline" cases should be kept out. I mostly meant Santo’s mental fortunes, he really seems like he’ll live and die for the team. That being said, a Cubs World Series could conceivably lead to a resurgence of Cubby nostalgia leading the way for a Santo induction.
  22. Unless, he's the new Jeff Davanon (AAA, just in case, OF), he has no business in the organization.
  23. So, are we really going to wait till Santo’s dead to admit we made a mistake with him? The guy averaged .277 25 Hrs 96 RBis, while playing good defense, suffering from a horrible case on diabetes, and while playing on terrible teams. I really can’t understand what the hate is about: he’s the Cubs equivalent of Hawk Harrelson, and while truly, a poor announcer, his unbridled love for his team is quite charming. The only thing that I can see happening to change Santo’s fortunes is the Cubs winning a World Series while he’s watching (like that’s going to happen.)
  24. QUOTE (tommy @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 04:33 AM) I know exactly what you're saying, I'm only on SoxTalk in between studying and this week I probably won't sleep much. I am so lucky I was studying for Psyche when the Bailey rumor started, otherwise, I would have never studied.
  25. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 12:46 PM) Poor Richard? Doesn't seem like a good idea to me. Shocking development guys. I just looked it up and Richard/Poreda is an anagram for A CAD HERD PRIOR. I think we have a promiscuous injury prone pitcher, who does what he’s told.
