  1. QUOTE (MO2005 @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 12:36 PM) the 2009 season will be a disaster. This meaning we don't go out and sign any veteran guys. What are Thome, Konerko, Buehrle, AJ, Dotel, Carrasco, and Linebrink going to be doing when all the young hooligans are gallivanting about? I think they’ll be winning baseball games.
  2. QUOTE (supernuke @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 11:53 AM) So you have already decided that the 5th starter will be CRAP. IF only Poreda and Richard can combine in a way, it would make not only for a fine pitcher, but an unstoppable acronym.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 09:45 AM) Also this deal isnt a 1 for 1, it most definately includes other players from their side. I’d wager we’d be sending a relief arm and receiving an OF prospect as well.
  4. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 02:10 AM) It's pretty much a perfect fit. If he's healthy, Homer Bailey is going to be a stud with the help of Don Cooper. If Bailey can work out the kinks he could be our #1 starter in two years. He has that kind of stuff. If he was acquired now (without any other signing) I imagine we’d slot him fourth, with Floyd becoming the #2 option. So: Buehrle, Floyd, Danks, Bailey, CR/AP (I hope it’s AP)
  5. There’s a wealth of options through the Bailey Trade like: Chris Dickerson Otherwise, I’d like Bradley (injury prone, yeah, but a professional hitter) Dunn, Abreu, Ibanez or Rivera (in that order)
  6. QUOTE (3E8 @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 12:18 AM) If your mascot is going to be a cock, at least make it a huge cock. Like Mandango. This one is embarrassingly small. I mean the head is not much longer than the shaft itself. The only saving grace is that the Dash have been circumsized So, if a prospect hits his ass off in Winston-Salem can we say he’s compensating for something?
  7. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 09:18 PM) The trade I understand, but as of today this team will not be in contention for a division title IMO. Name me one team in our division that’s certifiably better than us at the moment. Its one thing to be speculative, but we can’t be overly pessimistic. This is baseball, people age; these moves need to happen sooner or later. If this deal happens it’s for one reason only: to get better immediately and for the future.
  8. What exactly has changed since the beginning of the season? Yeah, Manning's progressed, but they still have faults and are beating the crap out of bad teams. Meanwhile, the Titans laid an absolute egg up in New York, but have been steady the rest of the year. Plus, they play into the Colts Weaknesses. Also, I realize that saying, “you do realize” in that tone was slightly condescending”, my bad and no harm meant.
  9. QUOTE (rangercal @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 11:37 PM) Keep in mind, these are not College football rankings. I do not care entirely about records. My rankings below are the top 10 teams in the NFL, in my eyes, right now. 1.Giants 2.Colts 3.Steelers 4.Titans 5.Cowboys 6.Panthers 7.Ravens 8.Bucs 9.Eagles 10 Patriots You do realize that not only did the Titans beat the Colts this year, but they’ve been strong against them for years. That and the Colts rushing D is terrible, right?
  10. I think that entering into spring training; Getz’ll be the clear favorite. That being said, after watching some video of Lillbridge I think he’ll give him a run for his money. As for the, Dye deal I wouldn’t be averse to trying to milk the deal for all it’s worth by including Wasserman or an equivalent arm for another prospect alongside Dye. The Reds are looking for upgrades in the bullpen, and they have a lot of good corner bats coming up that are expendable due to Votto and Alonso.
  11. If we can get a Dickerson, or another decent Of prospect along with Bailey, I really hope this deal gets done in Vegas
  12. Even the famed Kanny Intimidators shudder when confronted with the force of the mighty Purple Phallus.
  13. QUOTE (wilmot825 @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 06:39 PM) Tex won't sign until Sabathia signs, where as Sabathia won't sign until Texiera sign, and Lowe won't sign until Sabathia signs, and Manny won't sign until Texiera signs. Kinda makes you dizzy uhhh... maybe?
  14. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 07:13 PM) Who? The 5 guys who have about 15 MLB AB's between them? About 15 At Bats? Getz- 10 ABS Nix- 56 ABS Lillibridge- 80 ABS Betemit- 1098 ABS
  15. I hope Deadspin catches on to this. This is just too hilarious and to dead-on to only be a running joke on a message board.

Lex Luther's evil plan in Returns might have been one of the most illogical and ill-conceived evil plans ever written.
  17. QUOTE (scenario @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 03:22 PM) "The back end of our rotation is CR/AP." Hey, if they're any good we can say, "Hah, Liriano? You Ain't got CR/AP!"
  18. Also, Rafael Furcal appears to be a more attractive option to a lot of teams.
  19. QUOTE (wilmot825 @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 02:36 PM) I read all during the playoffs that Orlando Hudson was on the Sox radar. He fit their needs at 2nd and leadoff, so what the eff happend? Is he asking for too much, is that why? Im just curious to whats up. A lot of teams are backing off Hudson because of injury. Not sure about the Sox’s though

  21. Say what you want for Santo’s skills as a broadcaster, but his love for the Cubs has no equal. I really hope he gets in this year, he has the numbers, and he’s gone through so much in his life that he deserves at least a little comfort though the Hall of Fame. I'm not really sure what's not to like about the guy, other than him being a Cub and a total homer, but these are just my thoughts.
  22. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 6, 2008 -> 08:24 PM) Flowers is the future at catcher unless he's dealt, Donny Lucy will almost certainly never catch again, Dubler was drafted just this year, and Inouye played 54 games at low-A this season. I don't consider any of those real options at backup catcher. In fact, most are probably organizational guys that don't ever do much. I was responding to a comment that said that trading Armstrong would affect us negatively in the future; I then gave examples for the contrary. I can’t predict the future, nor can you. Dubler and Inoyue haven’t been in the system long enough to give up on them. I never said Lucy will be our catcher, I simply said he is one. Besides AJ going to be with the team for at least three more years. We have more the enough time to not only develop these players, but find a decent backup.
  23. QUOTE (SEALgep @ Dec 6, 2008 -> 09:15 AM) I don't believe KW is ever more than satisfied... Especially with the team as it stands. Maybe he isn't able to do anything else, but he's not satisfied. Clearly If you were satisfied as a GM, you wouldn’t be doing your job right, but I think he’s content. Obviously, he’s going to keep trying to make moves, because KW’s anything, but complacent. I honestly think he’d be confident going into next season with this group of guys.
  24. QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 04:18 PM) Now if there was someway of getting rid of Murphy... I just started listening to the Score, and I keep thinking to myself, “Why won’t he clear his throat? What is in his mouth? Who talks like that???”
