If any of guys wanna be entertained go on Rotten Tomatoes, and read some of the reviews for Punisher: War Zone. Hysterical
  2. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 03:42 PM) People seem to think that Cole Armstrong is a small price to pay, but I really could see him turning into a mediocre starting catcher for 6 years, which is really a pretty big price to pay with the organization's struggles in developing catchers. With Flowers, Dubler, Inoyue, and the Ghost of Donny Lucy still in the system, I’m not sure backup catcher is that big a deal for the future.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 03:57 PM) Shea is such a piece of s***. If its possible, it has worse seats and sightlines than Wrigley. The "reserved" fenced in sections in the lower deck are retarded as well. It’s appropriate that most Mets fans I’ve talked to aren’t even broken up over Shea closing. The nostalgia aspect is there, but the fact is, the stadium got progressively worse every year. The parking is terrible, the part of town is not ideal, and it just wasn’t a very nice place to watch a ballgame.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 02:02 PM) KW isnt going to go into ST with 2 holes in the rotation and no leadoff hitter. The thing is, in Kenny’s mind the team doesn’t have those holes. He seems to more than satisfied with the pool of Richard, Poreda, Marquez, Carrasco, Broadway, Egbert, and Van Benschoten for the 4 and 5 spots. He also seems to think that, Owens, Getz and Lillibridge will me more than enough depth for the leadoff spot. Frankly, I don’t blame him occasionally you have to throw a couple guys against the wall and see who sticks.
  5. Is the MLB network going to have any blackout rights like the NFL does? How would this effect owners of the MLB extra innings package?
  6. Highlights from the interview We can compete, once again, this year We are looking into the future, and try to win the same years we make trades Javy threw well all year long. He gave us innings and win, but was disappointing at the end. I did not expect him to be gone. Right now, we got Getz, Lillibridge, Fields and Betemit (no mention of Nix). No one has a shot for sure, we are leaning towards a couple guys. We have good team depth. These guys impressed a lot of people. Right now, it’s Konerko, Getz, Fields Ramirez Last year was the hardest year as a manager. Says he wouldn't have a choice, but to live with O-Cab. He played real well, out of position in lineup, we'd win with 'em The money sitiuation is a big factor. Ozzie would love to have a CC, but it's not realistic given the financial market, and the way the lineup is shaping up. CC is not on the wishlist Garland would be welcomed back. Swisher trade was for right now and the future. Swish did a good job, hitting out of position. The body language was a huge factor by the end of the year. We didn't get rid of him for that, we needed more people to help the ballclub. "if you're happy when you're not playing you're a loser" We're gambling, and in the past we've been pretty good at it. Our pitching staff is going to be better. Speed is not just in the bases, it's in the field. We need a good leadoff hitter. Joe (Crede) was great with me. Dayan Vicideo "if the kid plays half better then Ramirez, i'd take him any minute." the talent is there, knows how to play baseball, hopefully be good enough to help quickly at the Major League level" "i feel like the manager from Cuba!"
  7. Don't like this deal at all. Only Marlin (other than the obvious) that I’d be interested in acquiring is Cody Ross as a backup OF, but not for this package.
  8. QUOTE (heirdog @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 08:29 AM) Its clear Bucket-o-suck is implying he is married to Rick Hahn's sister (or cousin...or niece). In any case, if Thunderbolt can dig up some details on the "Ladies of Hahn," then we can confirm the true identity of Bucket-o-suck. I always find it odd how relatives come out of the woodwork and offer inside details when the team (KW) is on a supposed "gag" order. Why put your family relations under duress to share info that people will likely be skeptical of any way. Is it helping the team? Its nice to get the info but we all take it with a grain of salt and most won't believe a word so unless there is someway you can prove to have inside info (highly unlikely), its best to leave it alone...or simply defend your brother-in-law if people are taking unnecessary shots at him (never happens on this board as Rick Hahn is a GOD here). I’m not exactly an investigative reporter here, I just find it odd when people throw up “credentials” on a message board.
  9. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 11:45 PM) My wife's maiden name is ...Hahn. hmm, and of what relation are you? Hahn is a native of Winnetka, Ill. and a graduate of New Trier High School, the University of Michigan, the Harvard Law School and Northwestern's Kellogg Graduate School of Management. He and his wife, Jean, have two children, Jake and Charlie. The family resides in Glencoe, Ill. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/cws/team/e.../hahn_rick.html

  11. QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 11:42 PM) I don't think anyone should Except when he tells us just who the Tigers are in position to compete with.
  12. Similar layout to the Cell though. I went to a couple of Mets games this year, and you could see Citi looming over the outfield wall. It’s absolutely stunning, and Shea looks even crappier beside it.
  13. QUOTE (daa84 @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 10:59 PM) it wasnt 31 HR ....but check out tim hudsons college #s The difference between Hudson and JVB in my mind was that despite JVP being a closer he always had very raw stuff. Now, Hudson despite also being a great hitter was far more advanced as a pitcher in college then JVB was. I think that fact that one of them was drafted by the Athletics has a lot to do with it, because the A’s at the time were just getting out of the Kenny Rogers era, and were looking for a well-developed pitcher. And pretty sure JVB hits 31 homers in his junior year Kent State AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI SB CS BB 225 74 99 17 6 31 84 23 2 55
  14. How could you ever think of turning a guy who hits 31 homers during his last college seasion into a pitcher? Especially, when you think of the offensive talent that the Pirates had back in 2001.
  15. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 10:24 PM) No it doesn't. Tell us how it looks that way at all.... God, I don’t know. Maybe it’s the legitimate Dye trade rumors going around, and the fact that Konerko’s going to remain a fairly valuable commodity to a team that might be out of the race in September (though I hope not). Tell me why you think any different?
  16. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 10:08 PM) Public Cheers for "Taxpayer's Field," Proponents Say Taxpayers field? Hah, beats Enron field. Anyone see pictures of this place? The inside looks a lot like the Cell.
  17. Here are some of his college hitting stats for those interested. I'll give you a tip they're awesome. http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/V/j...enschoten.shtml
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 09:52 PM) They might try and make him a hitter. Agreed, he was a fantastic hitter coming out of school, and the Pirates made a profound mistake trying to turn him into a pitcher. He's experienced some sucess in that role, but has very limited periods of actual control.
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 09:06 PM) UConn wins by 4 at Buffalo (no idea why they agreed to go into a hornets nest like that). I nearly had a heart attack. That was too close.
  20. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 09:05 PM) Here is another pitcher who might be a decent #5...Jimmy Gooble. Gobble? Only if it's to throw batting practice against Konerko.
  21. It’s starting to look like the only members of the old offensive core that are gonna be here in late September are Thome and AJ. I still think AJ’ll retire as a Sock. At least I hope so, but he has many years left to go before we find out.
  22. Dye + Wasserman for Bailey +Dickerson +Parker (1B) Owens + Lucy, + F Hernandez for Cody Ross. Approach Dunn for two years.
  23. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 07:32 PM) It would be very cool if Beckham, Quentin, Allen, Viciedo, and Flowers all panned out. Even cooler if Danks 2 joined the club.
  24. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 07:46 PM) You mean totally alter his metabolism? No more food! I wana see ribs, damnit!!!
