  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 11:31 AM) I feel kind of sad that the legend of boone logan is. I'll never forget when he came up. I'll miss him for his action hero name. It's a shame that the title of coolest name on the team goes back to Broadway with this move. Meanwhile, Egbert waits in silence.
  2. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 02:03 AM) And how much movement do you expect to see on a 98mph fastball? The key is his offspeed stuff. If he can locate his change and slider to go with the speed of his fastball he'll keep hitters off balance. See: Jonathan Papelbon. Jackson's best pitch is his slider, which isn't saying much, becasue he has no control over it.
  3. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 11:35 PM) Nah I know what you mean, trading one of your most popular players and the former World Series MVP for a flameout former pitching prospect would be a PR disaster. What do you say we give up Floyd and Danks, Thome and get back Mcarthy and Garcia, and Rowand? Those guys were pretty important in the run to the World Series too. A GM can't base any descion on PR or loyalty. Homer Bailey is 22, ballplayers usually peak at 27 just two years ago he was the next big thing, he has a few years to go before he can be ruled a former pitching prospect.
  4. QUOTE (G&T @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 09:49 PM) Homer Bailey anyone? If this trade pans out Buehrle Floyd Danks Bailey Poreda/Richard will probably the most promising starting rotation since when Buehrle and Garland came up, and people like Dan Wright still seemed like they had potential. I don't care if it's unproven it'll be a blast to watch develop.
  5. QUOTE (jenks45monster @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 08:07 PM) If we were talking Sonnansinte and Bailey I'd definitely take Bailey. His ceiling is enormous. The option he gave was Sonnanstine/Jackson though. It's a shame we only have room for 25 on the everyday roster. We're going to be seeing a lot of creative maneuvering before the offseason is over.
  6. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 07:07 PM) Im not that surprised that Dye is expected to be traded, but to who and for what? The best guess so far is either the Reds or Rays. For Homer Bailey + Prosect or Jackson/Sonnanstine + prospect.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 07:00 PM) If Lillibredge is the guy they're hoping will turn in to a leadoff hitter (Solid sb %age, at least in the past has shown good OBP numbers although last year was a disaster for him), then I could see KW rolling the dice on Anderson in CF again, if he can force Ozzie to actually play him. But, this also clears cash. Agreed, keep in mind that Lillibridge has played some center too.
  8. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 06:53 PM) yeah I'm struggling. I see some good prospects, but I'm not exactly thrilled at this point to get back just prospects. Especially now a reclamation project. It’s not like we’re competing against the Yankees, Red Sox, Rays, and Jays here. Everybody else in our division has just as much work to do as the Sox do. If anything this puts us in a better place for the next five years

  10. QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 06:52 PM) So whose going to be in the 4th and 5th spots for us next season? Richard/Poreda for sure now, but I doubt both as we would have 4 lefties. It depends on the Bailey trade, i imagine. If we get him, and he has a decent spring training we'll roll the dice.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 06:39 PM) Lill, Flowers and a young arm. KW saw Flowers in the AFL. Outstanding, if this is true. This might even up the possibilty of an AJ trade (though, i hope not) Due to the development of Armstrong. Flower's + the Cell= Many a You Can Put It On the Board
  12. ESPN just said it's a 5 player deal. So, Logan and Javy for who knows what?
  13. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 06:14 PM) Glad as hell to see Boone gone too... So, does this mean that Broadway now has the coolest name on the team?
  14. QUOTE (daa84 @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 06:11 PM) a guy on WSI said espn is saying boone logan is in the deal as well I'm listening to 1000, and watching ESPN, and all i've heard is that Javy's been informed of a trade.
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 06:07 PM) Tommy Hansen? Not likley. If we get Hansen for Javy, when the Braves wouldn't give him for Peavy then KW is the best GM ever.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 06:05 PM) Reyes isnt in the deal from what I hear. You got any idea of what we're looking at?
  17. QUOTE (BearSox @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 06:03 PM) We better get a better deal then f***ing Lillibridge and fatty Jo Jo Reyes. HE'S BIG BONED! Plus, with Lillibridge we could stop bit%%ing about a leadeoff hitter.
  18. Finally, some action! Come on, kenny, work your magic!
  19. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 05:20 PM) Also I'd ask for a package of Yunel Escobar and Reyes for Vazquez here. Reyes apparently has major control issues, but some people still rate him highly. Escobar and Ramirez would be a nice up the middle combo, and you could still move Alexei to CF, if you acquired a 2B or SS. People aren't writing Escobar for Peavy straight up out. What makes you think we could get him and a piching prospect for Javy?
  20. Lillibridge has pop, speed, and disipline. Plus, he can play SS/Cf. Reyes was the #8 prospect in the Braves organization. We're talking Javy here, not Peavy. We should seriously considering taking a deal built around these two players.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 01:45 PM) http://bleacherreport.com/articles/87858-c...spects-for-2009 Hmmm.. i like Chris Getz a lot, but i'm not sure he's in the fave 5
  22. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 12:40 PM) The Sox would have serious offensive problems and would need to be acquiring a future CF and finding a way to get another hitter. Exactly, unless we get someone like Chris Dickerson in the Dye deal, then we can’t go into a Vasquez deal only looking for pitching. We need to find a better alternative then rushing Viciedo to the majors.
  23. I have a pretty decent list of baseball sites I frequent Baseball Musings (as you mentioned) is great I’ll go to Baseball-Ref for my stats RotoWorld or Baseball Think Factory to get any updated news or stories. And I’ll go to MLB Trade Rumors just to hear the speculation. I’m also a frequenter of the various SB Nation blogs to get some of the fans side of thing (Athletics Nation probably, being the best)
  24. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 10:31 AM) Derrick D-Rose is so awesome that he transcends having an easily misspelled first name. I forgive him for it.
  25. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 1, 2008 -> 11:17 PM) I use Mach 3 Turbo - never had an issue. Electric gives me razor burn. Pocket knife or tweezers? Machete?
