  1. So... this wasn't about Brian Anderson? Damnit, Baseball America! You fool me with your initials yet again!
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 30, 2008 -> 06:50 AM) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/stor...&id=3725295 Interesting article...some names we might be taking a look at include: LHP Randy Johnson SS/2B/UTIL Felipe Lopez (Betemit's presence would seem to prevent a move, not to mention Beckham) SS (2B?) Omar Vizquel OF Juan Rivera (someone mentioned him in the last couple of days) OF Rocco Baldelli OF Jim Edmonds Rivera's a decent pick if Dye gets traded, certainly not a longterm option. IF we're talking a decent one or two year contract then i wouldn't have a huge problem with it.
  3. So, Jocketty admitted that there have been talks between the Reds and the White Sox and refused to discredit the Dye rumors. We may be in business boys.
  4. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 28, 2008 -> 10:14 PM) Why would KW be interested in Bailey for Dye? Bailey gives up a lot of homeruns and had an ERA near 8.00 last season and almost 6.00 the year before. Reading some other posts makes me wonder all over again just what evaluation process do some fans use when rating Sox players? Comenst lioke getting rid of Thome. Thome fills the role he is in at DH with the best of DH's in the AL There was a time not that long ago when Homer Bailey was the best piching prospect in baseball. He still has the potential to be that guy. There was also a time when Thome and Dye were young and in the prime of their careers. That time is not now.
  5. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Nov 28, 2008 -> 09:57 AM) The one issue with it is we are trading for potential and not for proven performance, and that could possbly backfire on our immediate plans (2009). I am fine with a rebuilding year as long as the playoffs is what comes from it. I imagine KW saw this year as the perfect time to start rebuilding. Konerko, Thome, and Dye aren’t getting younger, and presumably the division isn’t getting any better next year. It’s not out of the question for us to make a serious run at this thing even with the young core replacing the old.
  6. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Nov 27, 2008 -> 07:53 PM) It's more the atmosphere than anything else. Of course, with a lot of ghosts stories (such as Resurrection Mary) people claim the presence of street lights somehow lessens accounts of ghosts. Isn't there a theory that ghosts take energy from electricity so as to take a more tangible form? I’m still somewhat skeptical over the whole ghost scene, but that’s as good a theory as ever. I suppose the lack of lights does contribute to the atmosphere, as you said.
  7. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Nov 27, 2008 -> 05:59 PM) 125 yards and 2 tds was fine with me I’m 9 and 3 right now, second place with a tough matchup. I thrive on greed. Luckily, I had the Ten Defense and Jason Witten going as well.
  8. It’s certainly not outside the realm of possibility. The Reds are a franchise on the rise that could factor into the division picture as earlyas this year. Their only problem is their manager. Dye would offer them a very potent offensive piece for the next two years; he's a great clubhouse guy too. Traditionally, a team filled to the core with young guns usually has at least one veteran bat. The question, is Jocketty concerned enough that this could very well be another Floyd deal that he won't pull the gun? Or does he have the stones to bail early on what was once the second best pitching prospect in the game, in hopes of making a strong push towards the number 2 spot in the division?
  9. Jason Bourgeois is now a Brewer. Hopefully, he'll stick around in the majors as a utility guy. Still suprised we didn't find a way to keep him, but good luck to him.
  10. After the first half CJ had i was very much in the mood for 200 hundred yards. The Titans continued reliance on Lendale White frustrates me to no end. Especially, after the stunt he pulled last week.
  11. Chris Dickerson is super toolsy, more of an athlete then a ballplayer, but he still has the ability to succeed on the Major League Level. The main concern is his age, he has not developed as quickly as the Reds would have liked. It’s a very real possibility that he’s just a late-bloomer. In that case, Bailey + Dickerson for Dye is more than acceptable.
  12. I drafted Chris Johnson with my second to last pick. I think he was a good investment .
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 26, 2008 -> 03:08 PM) What we might want to keep in mind is that the White Sox do not need to trade JD. If they trade JD, they're almost guaranteed to make themselves a worse team NEXT YEAR. In other words, we ought to be reaching for people if we're going to trade JD. We're giving up a ridiculously solid player under contract for 2 more years who'll probably also be a type A FA when he does walk. We ought to be reaching. When we traded Garcia, he wasn't as valuable as JD to me, and we got 2 potential pitchers, and Gavin was sort of the throw-in for that deal. It's not like Stubbs is looking like the next Pujols, he's more of a speed guy. I think that KW sees Bailey as the centerpiece, everyone else is gravy. I expect whomever else we'd get to be a good prospect, i just think we'll temper our expectations a bit. I don't think we'll see Stubbs ever develop in to a Sizemore type, but the Reds clearly expect a lot from him.
  14. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Nov 26, 2008 -> 12:35 PM) Would anyone do Bailey + Stubbs for Dye? Would the Reds? Stubbs is one of their top prospects. I think we'd be reaching for him.
  15. It wouldn't take that much for the Reds to compete for the division this year. If they can get a bat like Dye's for a price that doesn't kill 'em they could compete with the Cubs. Especially, now that the Brewers are falling off. They've got a great young staff, and a decent offensive core. I'm not sure Bailey would even make an impact on them for the next two years.
  16. It was just two years ago that Si had Bailey and Phil Hughes together as the next big things. Two inconsistent, injury riddled seasons and he’s done as a prospect? I’m not buying it. This reeks of the Gavin Floyd deal, and that’s why I love it.
  17. Now, that Votto and Alonso seem to be in their plans for the future, basically all of their first base prospects are fair game. I took a look and they have decent options down in AA, but with Allen and maybe even Fields here within two years we don’t really have a huge need.
  18. If we get Homer Bailey, and at least a B+ offensive prospect from the Reds, I will give serious consideration to naming my first child after Kenny Williams.
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 11:34 PM) How impressive was Rose? My God. He put the team on his shoulders in the final 2 minutes with great moves getting to the basket and scoring. I like to think of the rest of the team as Rose's thorns. If they let him he can carry them nearly every night. It's when they get jumpy (i'm looking at you Gordon) and try to do their own thing that things get messy.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 10:39 PM) Well, if they're raising ticket prices 11% (think how many extra millions that playoff appearance meant, with all the playoff packages and deposits) at a time when Michigan's unemployment rate is soaring towards Great Depression levels...then KW is going to put a better product on the field than Getz/Betemit/Nix at 2B and Anderson/Owens in CF. I'm still not convinced that the youth movement can't win the division. The Royals are a work in progress, the Tigers are a mess, the Twins will be a tick as always until we scratch them off, and the Indians are trying to rework their entire roster, and will be a dramatically different pitching staff (then in recent years) even with CY Lee.
  21. Okay, I like you Tony Korneheiser, I have more tolerance for you in the booth than most, but you need to shut up about Brett Favre and call the damn game. Seriously. NOW.
  22. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 11:17 PM) WOW, Bulls end Utah's 14 game (I think it was 14) home winning streak on a shot at the horn by Larry Hughes of all people, 101-100. Rose was sick, but he missed at the final seconds, only to see Hughes grab the rebound and score as time expired. Absolutely shocked they won that game, but hey we'll take it. Just get one more somehow for a 3-4 circus trip and I'll be content. HUGHESSSS!!! That was brilliant. I hope the rest of the NBA was watching we got a team to build, and some scraps to get rid of.

If i never saw that kid from Harry Potter 4 again i think i'd be better for it.
  24. I hope Viciedo homers off these kids’ multiples times in the minors so we can mock the Pirates and their version of an international sighing. That being said, I think that India has a lot of potential as an unexplored region of baseball talent. It’s amazing to think that only 6 or 7 years ago it was the Midwest of the USA that was under-scouted. And now we’re global And for you sticklers: No I don’ t think Viciedo will ever meet these kids in the minors. And yes, I agree they’ll need for time in the minors then he’ll ever need
  25. It’s truly fascinating the conspiracy theories that emerge from these incidents. Even the simplest of solutions will never be accepted at face value. Does anyone remember the exact results of the trajectory tests they did recently?
