  1. I like seeing Dayan in the lineup against Greinke. Eventually, the kid needs to be challenged.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 11:50 PM) You mean the 2nd best hitting team in the AL? The Royals hit an insane amouint of singles. It's bizarre.
  3. Well, that turned out to be a really underwhelming College World Series.
  4. Thome is signed to the same contract as Mark Kotsay. There’s no financial argument to be made here.
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 11:43 PM) I guess I was so certain we would sign Thome i never really even looked around at anyone else. It was such an incredibly simple decision to make... I never thought going into the offseason that the powers that be would decide that going into the year without a DH was the best option among many.
  6. Let's keep it going. All that matters is that we continue to win series.
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 11:02 PM) Bolt, I hate bunting too. I'm just pointing out how people will complain no matter what course of action we take. That can’t really be helped though. It’s pure impulse to lash out at the team when something doesn’t work out. I do think you’re right to expect some kind of accountability, or at least consistency in opinion though. As for me I will always hate the bunt. ALWAYS. I’m reading Weaver on Strategy at the moment, and it’s really only serving to make me outwardly frustrated with nearly every offensive strategy Ozzie employs.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 10:59 PM) Oh I give up already... You're right. Let's bunt and take the bat out of Alexei's hands when we have a guy on first who was explicitly brought to this team to steal bases. Whatever.
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 10:54 PM) We already tried that and everyone here complained about us being too aggressive. I'd prefer to at least try a run-and-hit with Juan on-base. Send Juan and give Alexei the option of swinging or taking. There's no need to take the bat out of anyone's hands.
  10. Why thie f*** is Juan Pierre even on this team if you have to f***ing bunt him to second?
  11. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 01:15 PM) So how badly does the injury affect the Tigers? Are the Twins and Sox the front runners with a big piece of the Tiger bullpen out for the year or does Detroit manage, kind of like the Twins have without Nathan? The Tigers have plenty of live arms in the minors. It shouldn't be a huge problem.
  12. We run ourselves out of more innings then any damn team in baseball.
  13. Dayan really doesn't look that bad in the field. He reacts really well to the ball off the batt, he just needs to get in front of it more.
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 10:01 PM) Greinke's been a tough luck loser all year. He's the Matt Cain of the American League this year.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 09:59 PM) Rios definitely slumping...pulling off way too much. We'll really need someone to step up while he's slumping. Hopefully, Beckham is the guy.
  16. We have such a great approach at the plate.
  17. QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 11:58 AM) I usually agree, but it's a RP with over 5 years of team control left, as opposed to an offensive upgrade for less than half a season. Still, it's a guy that can give you 5 innings a week tops as opposed to a guy who gets on base and hits for power for all 9 innings. Coupled with the draft picks we'll get at the end of the year, we stand to lose nothing other then a good arm who comes with an even better story. Putz can inherit his innings this year, and a guy like Nunez or Santeliz can have a go at it next.
  18. I have no problem at all about giving up Santos. At this point, he’s an unknown commodity long term and an organization should never pause over the idea of trading a relief pitcher to add a critical piece to the offense.
  19. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 09:04 AM) Sounds like Dunn wants to test FA next year. Sadly, I just don't see the Sox giving up the pieces to land Dunn. Dunn will be a Type A free agent next year and won't take ARB. The White Sox would stand to gain draft picks from him walking.
  20. The Nationals like Jesus Flores a lot and are pretty invested in this Norris kid they have down in AA. I think pitching would be going to Nationals either way.
  21. QUOTE (GREEDY @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 08:11 PM) You can't fix stupid. That guy is both a tool shed and a tool. He might have the best package of talent of anyone in the game, he just can't put it together. I'd still love to have him, stupid or not.
