  1. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 11:39 AM) Tampa guys signed... http://www.tampaspartans.com/article.asp?articleID=2244 I love that picture of the U of Tampa guys with Sox hats on. I imagine it's pretty exciting that they get to go through this together.
  2. It's raining like hell in Boston. I'm hoping for some thunder and a delay so they'll switch me over to the White Sox game.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 05:30 PM) No way you drill AJ with 2 men on, even with Beckham hitting behind him. It’s sad that you had to qualify that statement.
  4. IF KW has to go, I'd like Hahn or Paul Depodesta for our GM. For manager, i'd like a sabermetric oriented guy who knows how to work matchups and construct a lineup that maximizes scoring chances. Basically, a younger Earl Weaver/Davey Johnson.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 04:40 PM) Seriously, what's the deal with all the empty seats? Expensive tickets for games between two mediocre teams are generally not a good combination.
  6. We're going to hit the crap out of Silva though. A bad start by Buehrle might not be fatal.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 04:25 PM) Sit around and be angry is usually the rule. Make use of gameday audio if you have it. That's what i do. I'm really starting to like MLB At-bat though. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?g...&mode=atbat
  8. This could be AJ's last game as a White Sox. Let's make it memorable.
  9. FOX has decided that i'd rather watch Phillies-Red Sox. It's great that someone else gets to choose what i want to watch for me, Especially, when i have the Extra Innings package,
  10. That UCLA-CalFul game was ridiculiously long. I love watching baseball, but not for nearly four hours long. It wasn't exactly a thriller either.
  11. QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 12:55 AM) Not that I don't like AJ, but am I wrong for thinking he would just say "no thanks" and stick it out till the end of the year? Nope, this is exactly what he'd do. I expect we'd offer him an extension at the end of the year, and he'd flounder away at the plate for the next two years too, while Flowers either languishes in the minors or gets shipped off somewhere so we can begin this process again. AJ not being traded sends exactly the wrong message to the fans this year. It says we taken a look at this roster and decided to honor the past, instead of the future.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 09:13 PM) Cowley said Garcia and Konerko confirmed the blow-up. Also, both Stone and Cowley suggested Hahn will be replacing KW sooner rather than later, and Ozzie's going nowhere. So, KW falls on his sword and Ozzie takes no accountability for he and his family’s actions this year. Awesome.
  13. I actually get worried when we win now. I'm afraid that we're really going to make moves in an effort to make up the deficit. I like that kind of commitment to winning, but I think that hurts us in the long run.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 08:12 PM) I disagree. I really don't think it matters if they trade AJ or not. In fact, I still think its a decent possibility AJ winds up playing for the White Sox in 2011. The prospect or 2 you might be able to get for a couple months of AJ has about a 99% chance of not having the type of impact on your team AJ has had, and currently has. Its not a setback. The days of acquiring Jeff Bagwell for Larry Andersen are ova. Putting off the Tyler Flowers era over some misconstrued sense of loyalty towards AJ is not a good idea. If Jermaine Dye has taught us anything it’s that sooner or later these guys decline. Right now, we’re in the perfect position to deal AJ and get something for him. There’s no time like the present.
  15. If we don't trade guys like A.J. and instead choose to make some lateral moves and make some suicidal push towards the post-season, I suggest we all get used to losing for a long time. This is not the time to honor past allegiances; it's time to build towards the future.
  16. AJ does not sound like a guy who is eager to get out of Chicago after his 10-5 kicks in. If a move gets made, it has to be made now. http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/...ade-rights.html
  17. Sadly, it actually wouldn't suprise me if Ozzie has the ultimate say in personnel decisions at this point.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 05:51 PM) How can you guys say Bobby f***ing Jenks is not one of the best? Amazes me. It depends on what you mean by the best. If you mean being generally unreliable in important situations, and really good at letting men on-base, I’d say you have a decent argument, Greg.
  19. It's good to be getting something nice from Jenks and AJ, right now.
