  1. Sale being interviewed on the draft broadcast.
  2. I wonder if the Braves are tempted towards a guy like Wilson at the start of the Comp round.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 09:46 PM) You give the Astros way too much credit. Maybe, but i think he'd be a great fit.
  4. I think Castellanos goes to the Astros at 33. I can't see them passing on a kid with his tools.
  5. Nice pedigree pick by the Angels in Bedrosian.
  6. If Grandal pans out, the Red are going to be a dominant force in the NL Central for years to come.
  7. How the hell are the McCourts going to settle there drama in time to greenlight the money to stop this Lee kid from going to LSU?
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 09:34 PM) The second round is tonight, right? I think it might be tomorrow at 12 ET. I'll check though.
  9. This is shaping up to be a very interesting COMP and start of the second round.
  10. Laumann says that the Sox see Sale as a starter. Still doesn't rule out a transition somewhere down the line.
  11. Lots of good stuff from Sale on Reifert's twitter. Sounds like the kid is happy to be in the family, and Laumann sees him as a starter. ttp://twitter.com/InsideTheSox
  12. Sale? Nice, i can't believe he fell to us. What a great night.
  13. Holy, s***. I just got home and we got CHRIS SALE. This is awesome. The future is starting to look like shades won't be required.
  14. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 06:25 PM) Jones has been far from awful and Kotsay, although terrible, is a part-time player. If you want to point fingers, you're pointing them at the wrong players. I'm glad that you're comfortable with a .205 average and a .314 OBP coming from two guys who were supposed to hold down the DH spot. I'm not. Especially, when the majority of the 15 hr's and 34 RBI's that these guys put up are from a guy trending downwards in the exact same fashion as last year.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 06:18 PM) And I don't think the offense being somewhat worse than predicted is a good reason to excuse the pitching staff being hugely worse than expected. I'm not going to let the pitching staff off the hook either. The fact is even if we were pitching as expected, we'd still be the third best team in the division, because The Powers that Be were comfortable settling on guys like Mark Kotsay and Andruw Jones to sink or swim with this team.
  16. Coming into the season i had the White Sox offense pegged to be worse then last years. I was never a fan of gambling on such a great pitching staff with an offense composed of wishful thinking, retread types. Even now i still don't think the pitching staff being terrrible is a good enough reason to excuse our pathetic offense.
  17. A.J. doesn't want to go anywhere. He'd be perfectly comfortable retiring as a Sox. That's why this organization wouldn't offer him arb, and that's why KW is trying to trade him before his 10-5 kicker goes into effect.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 04:33 PM) Mets aren't going to take another lefty starter, as they have 3 already and that's not even counting Oliver Perez. Giants, IMO, are the best fit for Buehrle, even though Cardinals are the ideal candidate but don't have the money/prospects. Oliver Perez is a non-factor here. The Mets are done with him, they don't like him, and they don't want him. After that, they've got a guy like Niese who they are high on, and a guy in Takahashi who they're getting good results from. Yet no one is really buying those results as an indicator of future rewards from this guy. IF the Mets could have a top two of Santana and Buehrle, LHP's or not, they'd take it.
  19. I was at nearly every Uconn home game this year. On a good day, we'd get maybe 300-500 people.
  20. Viceido is pretty close to be ready, defense be damned. We paid money for the Cuban Babe Ruth, not the Cuban Keith Hernandez.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 03:54 PM) Would that description have fit Mike Leake last year? Mike Leake was obviously the second-best pitcher in the Strasburg draft. So, no.
  22. Thornton is a guy we deal because people will actually give up something tangible for. If KW gets a call, he should listen. I'd like it if Peavy, Danks, Floyd, Beckham, Ramirez, TCQ, and Rios could survive the purge. I might be being stubborn, but i think they still have long-term value to this franchise.
  23. According to everything i'm hearing out here,The Mets are looking for another arm. I imagine Buerhle is still in play,
  24. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 03:27 PM) If we trade either one of them this season, we might as well give up our hope of a World Series title in 2010 I think we can take that kind of risk.
  25. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 02:21 PM) The problem is, if you spend money on a replacement starting pitcher, then where do you find the money to add bat and bullpen? How much would a guy like Harden, or reclamation projects like Webb or Bedard cost on the open-market? I'm assuming that Javy, Sheets and Lee will be getting the majority of play for the free-spending teams.
