  1. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 01:00 AM) Thornton's value has been insane for like 3 years now. Every GM knows he is a beast/what he is about. In fact.. I remember one GM gushing him up not too long ago (Theo?) I'd argue that it's higher then in the past, because we suck this early on in the season, and it's starting to look like a definite notion to other GM's that Thornton could be had.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 12:57 AM) No way KW would actually go forward with a complete rebuilding though. I can't FATHOM that happening. Yeah, if we made that seismic a shift, I’d feel like I’d been struck by a THUNDERBOLT. Nah, that's doesn't even make logistical sense. I guess it's only cool when, you do wordplay with your username .
  3. Assuming we clear a lot of room here, and Flowers and Danks have a nice turn around in production by the All-Star Break (massive assumptions, I’ll admit) I really wouldn’t mind playing out the year with the following lineup, and usning it as an early audition for the spring. Give a lot of these guys a pressure free, entrance to the big leagues. C-Flowers 1b-Viciedo 2b-Beckham 3b-Teahen SS-Ramirez, RF-Danks CF-Rios, LF-Pierre, DH-TCQ
  4. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 12:45 AM) Same here, I don't see anything to make me think he doesn't want to be here..... There's nothing that remarkable about the quote. I was just suprised to see him make himself part of the discussion. It's not a huge deal. I just thought his quote would be more like, "Yeah, i expect a lot of changes around here." Rather then, "Yeah, i expect a lot of changes around here, i could be one of them, i'd understand it if Kenny wanted to trade me."
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 12:20 AM) Sounds like Peavy would be really upset to get traded...not! http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,6040482.story I didn't actually expect him to approach the question like that. I don't see him getting moved, but he's just opened up an entire can of words for himself.
  6. We all recognize that the ship is sinking. I just love how Sox Talk is a strong enough community that we can all sink together. That's why i'm hoping as things continue to get bad that we can stop taking our frustrations with this team out on each other. Things are bad enough with the club, let's spare the board.
  7. There's no way that we finish this year without TCQ and Pierre on the roster. They're here to stay.
  8. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 12:15 AM) I believe Sox have a $3M team option which is a no-brainer. Agreed, he's one of the most dominant forces in the game and we're lucky to have him. I just think that if we can get something significant for him, you have to do it. If you're trading him for the sake of trading him. don't do it.
  9. Thornton needs to be trade becasue his value has never been higher. Honestly, i don't see us being able to resign him either.
  10. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 11:34 PM) Take this FWIW. A friend of mine who works security told me A.J.'s locker was cleaned out when he was in the clubhouse before the game. I'm sure our local media will have the scoop. This could potentially be the start of something big. Here's hoping it's true. (although, i hope he's get to play one more game at home, so the Cell crowd can give him a proper send off.)
  11. Yet another nail in the White Sox coffin. The ship has sailed.
  12. Alex Gordon came into the league as the next George Brett and has beaten the living hell out of minor league pitching. You don't get picked #2 after Justin Upton in the deepest, most talent leaden draft ever on a whim. He's very, very talented. Injuries and general Royals f***ery have prevented him from making a name for himself. He needs a change of scene.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 10:26 PM) Never going to happen. We have Teahen locked up for another 2 years, Morel in the minors, and KC wouldn't risk trading him within the division. They're not the Pirates! You're right, they're worse.
  14. Dayton Moore says he has no intentions on bringing up Alex Gordon any time in the near future. Make him an offer, KW.
  15. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 10:16 PM) The skies over Chicagoland are darkening as a heavy storm front is com- I tell you what, Stone Pony, that dadgum thing was at least 4 feet long, if it wasn't 4 1/2 I'd be plumb shocked. I remember back in '67, me and Yaz used to go down to the pond and fish all da-there's a Tornado Watch for Cook County and the surrounding area, so stay tuned to WGN for furth-Yaz used to like fishing because he said that throwing the ol' rod was pert near close to swingin the ol' lumber. This might be the greatest thing i have ever read.
  16. I suspect we're going to be sending off a lot of these guys very soon. I remember when all the rumors that Halladay was going to get traded last year popped up, and every home start the Jays fans gave him a standing O. I hope we pay our guys back in kind.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 10:07 PM) 10 k's in 35 at bats isn't really great to me. That's still about a 170 K/600 at-bat pace. We're talking small victories here, Balta. I'll take what i can get.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 10:02 PM) Counting tonight he has 10 k's in his last 35 at-bats. I checked. That's great to hear. I hope he's made his adjustments and hits from here on out. It would be nice to see him getting some at-bats for this team after the purge.
  19. Why is Randy Williams still here? Why is Walker still here? Why isn’t anyone being held accountable for their contributions to this team? The only person whose been sent down (Lucy) didn’t even deserve it.
  20. Danks was moved back to leadoff and went 1-3 with no K's. I'll take it.
  21. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 09:55 PM) When was the last time we won 2 in a row? Just over two weeks. It was the Marlins series.
  22. This will be the first time the Indians have one two in row in nearly three weeks.
  23. Pretty much our only positive this year is a converted SS who pitches at most two innings a night. This just a simply awful time to be a White sox fan.
  24. I’d like to know who it was that called for the Pierre bunt on the 3-2 count in the 7th. If it was Pierre, he needs to be benched tomorrow, if it was Ozzie he needs to be reprimanded.
