Wow, today is the anniversary of A.J. getting punched in the face by Barrett and BA swinging wildly at John Mabry. Those were good times. -
After his three-homer game against Seton Hall, Mike Olt of UCONN is now at 20 homers for the season. He's made a nice adjustment to 3b (from SS) this year, and he'll be available in the later rounds. I'm a bit of a homer, but i'd like to bring him in.

The Braves' Brooks Conrad just hit a pitch-hit walk-off grand slam that deflected off the Reds' LF's glove and over the wall. His name? Laynce Nix. Bad week for that family.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 20, 2010 -> 03:48 PM) He is slumping, but the sox just had an off day day three days ago (PPD) and another one seven days ago. I don't think a professional player needs to be coddled this much mentally. We should consider ourselves lucky that Ozze can turn to a guy like Kotsay to give him productive ab's off the bench. -

Why are a lot of these guys getting so much rest? I could understand if our bench wasn't awful, but we're not in the position to give guys like Rios three days off per week. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 20, 2010 -> 02:31 PM) Hey, when the Sox are losing you are always here, so the board never dies. Let's go Peavy! Going for his fourth straight win! -

I miss Your Love, sue me.

I wouldn't mind bringing in Thibodeu from Boston. If they get some decent offensive-minded assistants around him, you've got some major bases covered.

QUOTE (hogan873 @ May 20, 2010 -> 11:53 AM) Couldn't or didn't because he believed in the DH plan? I think he went after guy like Johnson and Matsui with the idea of bringing back Thome in his back pocket. When that fell through he went to Ozzie, and told him of his intention to go after Thome, Ozze disagreed and talked him out of it. Thus, the birth of the Mark Kotsay-headed monster.
-
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 20, 2010 -> 11:47 AM) Like Nix? Nix is the last man off the bench, so no. We have a lot of problems, the root of it is not the guy who lucked into a 25-man roster spot because KW couldn't bring in a big fish.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 20, 2010 -> 08:52 AM) dude kicked everyone in the balls last night. He just happened to use an iron toe shoe for you I like to think there's a reason god gave us two testicles. We're about to find out.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 20, 2010 -> 09:11 AM) Like Beckham, our can't miss prospect? I wasn't referring to Beckham. I was talk about installing a new 3b, a rotating DH, and filling a bench with a bunch of guys whom we had to cross our fingers to produce results.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 20, 2010 -> 08:40 AM) Reason #25. Jayson Nix at 3rd. Nix kicked my faith in him in the balls last night.

THe White Sox are on pace to score 676 runs this year. That's 48 less then last year, and 44 less then my projected output. We all agreed that the offense was going to be a problem, that this organization was counting on lightning in a bottle mixed with solid pitching to take it to the promise land. Next time, the focus needs to be on the "sure" thing. This organization is in a very dire place.

QUOTE (ptatc @ May 20, 2010 -> 12:13 AM) However, it's talented players like CQ, Beckham, Floyd who are performing poorly. In many cases relaxing a little and not pressing will help. Baseball is a game where increased intensity and getting too fired up can hurt a player. Sometimes that's what players need and that's why Ozzie continues to talk about "nobody being the man" and putting too much pressure on themselves. I imagine it’s hard to relax when you’re 7.5 games back, and your manager’s liable to go berserk in the press at any moment. This is the same argument as chemistry. Chemistry is great and players don’t press when you’re winning, we’re not winning. Therefore, we’re pressing? It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy. We had some fun personalities in 2008 too, that changed rather quickly after Toronto when these players realized they’d have to shut up and then put up.

KW claimed that the reason he hasn't been traveling with the team is that he was preparing for the draft. Hopefully, he's doing his due diligence to look at Wilson's signability.
-
KW said that all of the White Sox coaching jobs are safe. Rogers speculates that KW will take the fall before anyone else.http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/whitesox/ct-spt-0520-bits-white-sox-angels-los20100519,0,1873756.story

Angels @ White Sox 5/19/10 Game Thread!

QUOTE (fathom @ May 19, 2010 -> 10:47 PM) This organization is in a lot of trouble right now. I don't care if we lose every game the rest of the way, as long as Beckham/Quentin start turning it around. The only member of our young offensive core that's producing is Rios. If this holds up we're in deep s***. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 19, 2010 -> 10:38 PM) I've seen enough. I'm not really anti-Walker. But a change needs to be made. It's one thing when a career scrub save one season like Mark Teahen sucks. But what's happened to CQ, Ramirez and Beckham is unacceptable. Agreed, even if it turn out to be a scapegoat someone needs to be held accountable for what's happening with our offense. -
I think we should have a thread that contains a recap of tonights game entitled, Reasons we can't catch the Twins..
