  1. I wasn't speculating about him being in minor league camp and doing baseball things.
  2. There is a lot of complete bullshit in this thread. He's in minor league camp with the other minor leaguers. Matt Spiegel was just talking about how he saw him doing some hitting drills near the backfields. I have no idea what the ETA is to arrive at an affiliate but saying he's not with the team is nonsense. He is in Arizona rehabbing. Whatever that entails.
  3. He's already the top 1B prospect in baseball and a top 30 guy though.
  4. 99 wRC+ vs RHP last season.
  5. I just don't think Abreu, EE or Grandal should ever sit vs LHP. I don't like McCann's fit on this roster.
  6. Why would EE suck? I think Abreu is much more likely after his year vs RHP in 2019
  7. From looking at spring training lineups early on, it seems that the opening day will look like this: 1. Tim Anderson SS 2. Yoan Moncada 3B 3. Jose Abreu 1B 4. Edwin Encarnacion DH 5. Yasmani Grandal C 6. Eloy Jimenez LF 7. Luis Robert CF 8. Nomar Mazara RF 9. Leury Garcia 2B
  8. Grandal had a 138 wRC+ vs LHP last year. If James McCann is the opening day catcher, Rick Renteria should be fired.
  9. Yeah I disagree. Collins can play catcher on a part-time basis and can play 1B. He also walks and hits from the left side. I don't think Mercedes can catch even part time.
  10. Yermin Mercedes is 27-years-old without a defensive position. He's a fun player and can rake. This is wayyy too high though.
  11. I'd argue that the last 4 years were much better than anything that took place from 2009-2015 though. They would constantly kick the can down the road. The organization was basically just treading water. Not losing enough to benefit, not building rosters good enough to win, not spending appropriately on amateur talent, no scouting or development changes geared toward sustain success. The success on the big league level over the past few years has been terrible but it was by design. They have more talent in the organization right now than they've had before and logical player development models in place that are sustainable into the future.
  12. I don't think it's bizarre at all. They'll be much more prep focused under Shirley. I'd rather have the best HS pitcher or best HS SS than the 4th best college arm probably. The college hitters will rise and push talent down the board.
  13. I think it will be a prep player at #11
  14. Keith Law thinks Nick Madrigal is a regular but doesn't believe in the profile. He thinks he is David Eckstein basically which is why he's not ranked. He didn't even have him as a top 20 draft prospect in 2018. These are some stellar write-ups on Luis Robert, Michael Kopech and Andrew Vaughn though. Law has always been the highest in the industry on Kopech and that hasn't changed. He never wavered on Lucas Giolito either and that has paid off.
  15. This isn't true. Bummer was going to get 4 arbitration years and the final one as a super 2 player. Arbitrators still overrate saves and relievers in general. They probably saved here and set up their former 19th rounder for life while giving the org cost certainty. It's fine
  16. The player is getting like less than $5 million. These rules are all changed so I'm not really sure.
  17. Japanese team could let him out of his deal. They could also post him. The problem is, the posting date has passed. They could post him again in December. At that point, a tean would have to have enough international bonus pool space to sign him or wait until July 2nd 2021.
  18. I've heard similar from other beat writers privately FWIW. This is a Reinsdorf problem. Don't displace your rage toward Bruce in this case.
  19. I heard from the media source that was posting about Manny Mota in this thread haha
  20. No link. That's what I heard earlier.
  21. Manny Mota thinks that Puig is signing with the White Sox FWIW.
