  1. Thanks guys. There was a lot of news last week. I felt the need to sum it up. I'm really curious to see what they end up doing. The Colas situation is so strange at this point too. Nobody really knows. I put this thread on the main page if anyone wants to combine. Thanks for reading.
  2. I wrote about the recent rumors and the White Sox for the upcoming J2 period. http://futuresox.com/2020/02/18/the-white-sox-are-eyeing-cuban-prospects-in-international-marketplace/
  3. You aren't obligated to pay the $2 for the content. I'll have more on the other names as free content as we get closer to J2. I'm not at liberty to post that stuff on the free portion of the site right now though.
  4. Stiever for sure. Flores could but he's a #5 probably. Jimmy Lambert and Dane Dunning should be competing for a spot next year at this time. Dalquist, Thompson and Vera coming behind them.
  5. I'm just not that interested in a college bat at this stage though. I hope they go younger in round 1 or take a college starting pitcher.
  6. To wrap up rankings week, we took questions on twitter and answered them. http://futuresox.com/2020/02/14/2020-preseason-rankings-twitterbag-questions/
  7. He sounds nothing like Carson Fulmer. Detmers is an advanced lefty with a limited ceiling. Fulmer had great stuff in college but didn't throw strikes and many people projected him to relief.
  8. I think the Sox are going high school in round 1 and more prep focused overall. Hopefully these college guys push preps down the board.
  9. Yeah Leon is going to Houston for $4 million. He probably agreed a long time ago. It doesn't really work like that. Teams don't really renege on agreements.
  10. I would think so but I'm not really sure. Colas is a weird situation. He's not cleared to sign and he's still technically under contract with his Japanese club. Yamel can sign immediately. The Sox don't have money in this period. Jesse Sanchez linked the Sox to Yamel yesterday. I was told by a pretty plugged in Cuban reporter that the Sox don't have the bonus amount that Yamel is asking for. That seems weird too though because the Sox have over $3 million for next period. I wouldn't think he gets $3 million personally. We shall see I guess. At least they're active.
  11. I'm intrigued by Dyan Yamel because of his age. That'd be a nice get. Jesse Sanchez put him at #15 overall in the 2019 class. I would guess he gets between $2-$3 million. I don't have much interest in Cespedes.
  12. He might not. He's a better defender though and is faster.
  13. Yolbert Sanchez has a track record of success in Cuban leagues. He's starting in Kannapolis and could be a major leaguer pretty quickly due to his defensive prowess. Benyamin Bailey is an interesting story as a $35K signing out of Panama. Shortstop is a more important position. If you told me that Bailey ends up ahead of Yolbert on the midseason list, I wouldn't be that surprised. It's not time for that yet though.
  14. I pick and choose what I pay for as well. I pay for The Athletic because it's awesome. ESPN comes with my Disney Plus subscription and I have to have Baseball America. FutureSox is basically still free. Everything we did before, we are still doing. It's rankings week. Our patreon subscribers are getting separate articles with each of our individual rankings all week. They will also get insider content and weekly podcasts all year. I completely understand not paying for it. I get it. I have a good international source and I'm the only person who has published the names of the 6 players I listed today. I'm sure that will come out eventually and when we do the International Preview, there will be more info on them free for all to consume. For now though, the only people who will see the names are patreon subscribers or someone that takes the names from the post and puts them somewhere. I'm a teacher. That's my full time career. I don't need the money. The site does though and every little bit helps.
  15. You can't go over the limit anymore. The international market is hard capped now. The Sox should have like $5.6-$5.8 million to spend. Vera is getting $1.5 million and 6 additional signings are getting like $1.8 million. That doesn't leave much for Colas.
  16. Nothing that's ever been free will cost anything now either. Patreon subscribers will receive extra stuff and extra perks throughout the season.
  17. It says the Sox have a deal with Norge Vera, it lists the other 6 players they are signing with some video and discusses the possibility of signing Oscar Colas.
  18. The White Sox are signing Norge Vera and would like to sign Oscar Colas. They have agreements in place with 6 other players as well though and I wrote about all of it for Patreon subscribers! http://futuresox.com/2020/02/11/report-white-sox-active-in-international-market-leading-up-to-2020-period/
  19. The White Sox have signed six additional players for J2. I wrote about them and where they stand here. It's for Patreon Subscribers only though: http://futuresox.com/2020/02/11/report-white-sox-active-in-international-market-leading-up-to-2020-period/
  20. Vera likely falls in the same range as Thompson/Dalquist
  21. Major league baseball counts them as prospects
