  1. It tells me that they are anticipating him playing in Kannapolis next year. Good move if so.
  2. I wrote this about the White Sox signing class: http://www.chicagonow.com/future-sox/2018/07/international-signing-day-2018-white-sox-sign-5-players/ They did fine. I'd much rather have close to major league ready potential impact LH reliever than 5 LAtAM kids for $300K. This trade was fine. They still have another $2 million to deal as well. I'll start complaining next year when they have $$ to spend and they aren't landing impact talent. They've done a decent job of late with multiple prospects stateside and making an impact.
  3. Brad Bach is bad and a free agent after the season. You should feel fine about the White Sox trade
  4. I'm not buying this yet, guys. Seems like a leak to me. Victor Victor hasn't been cleared yet and hasn't even held a showcase. It could end up being Baltimore but it doesn't make a ton of sense right now.
  5. I posted some things on twitter about this. Whenever Bob does this, it's usually an indication that the White Sox are using him to negotiate through the media. They really don't have a ton of leverage right now though due to Abreu being bad.
  6. Oakland took on the remaining $3 million on Familia's deal. The Mets seemingly made a Reinsdorfian deal in the sense that they prioritized financial savings.
  7. Richard Justice said Astros were interested in Abreu on mlbnetwork this morning. Maybe he was lying though.
  8. He was a $300K signing from recent international period out of Cuba. Never played DSL. Went straight to AZL this year but he was an older signing. He's 21 I believe
  9. More BREAKING NEWS: Son of former MLB player Miguel Tejada, tested positive for steroid Stanozolol. Player was about to sign a with Chicago White Sox, but the team decided not to sign Tejada JR due to positive test. 10. Well according to the Baseball America BA500 it looks like this: #3 Nick Madrigal SS #32 Steele Walker OF #60 Konnor Pilkington LHP #116 Isaiah Carranza RHP #119 Davis Martin RHP (Currently Unsigned) #125 Jonathan Stiever RHP #175 Jason Bilous RHP #233 Andrew Perez LHP #243 Tyrus Greene C #298 Codi Heuer RHP #367 Lency Delgado SS #393 Cabera Weaver OF #402 Bryce Bush 3B
  11. Something to keep in mind is that Mississippi State has switched coaching staffs. Could have something to do with the decision to sign.
  12. 5% of the pool. The White Sox are $199,000 over right now. They can spend like $330K more to stay right at 5%. Could theoretically give Bush $450K (includes the $125K pick value). This doesn't account for Davis Martin though.
  13. Charlotte will have: Call, Fisher, Booker and maybe Basabe. Birmingham should have: Rutherford, Adolfo, Gonzalez for sure. They could have Robert as well. Winston-Salem will have: Walker, Dedelow, etc
  14. No it doesn't. They are $199,000 over the pool. They can still sign Davis Martin for up to like $450K without losing a pick next year. Just would have to pay overage tax.
  15. I'd honestly rather have the $300K to trade away than sign Tejada anyway.
  16. To add to this as well: the Sox signed Guerrero, Mieses, Comas, Sosa etc during the 2016 signing period. Robert ended up being a part of the same period. There was chance that he would be in 2017 period though. That changes things. They offered him $26 million in 2016. If he were in 2017, he would have been limited under the new CBA but the WhiteSox would have likely offered him their entire pool of close to $5 million. The White Sox couldn't bank on Robert being in the 2016 class and agree to a bunch of deals with prospects in 2017 for $700-$2 million just in case Robert ended up in 2017 class. He was their top target and they needed to figure out how to move money to do it. Cardinals were the other club that was in until the end FWIW.
  17. The Top 30 was very hard this time which is a good thing. We could almost go to 40 players pretty easily. 1. Eloy Jimenez OF 2. Michael Kopech RHP 3. Luis Robert OF 4. Nick Madrigal SS 5. Alec Hansen RHP 6. Zack Collins C 7. Dylan Cease RHP 8. Dane Dunning RHP 9. Micker Adolfo OF 10. Luis Alexander Basabe OF 11. Blake Rutherford OF 12. Steele Walker OF 13. Luis Gonzalez OF 14. Jake Burger 3B 15. Jordan Stephens RHP 16. Zack Burdi RHP 17. Seby Zavala C 18. Spencer Adams RHP 19. Gavin Sheets 1B 20. Konnor Pilkington LHP 21. Ian Hamilton RHP 22. Luis Curbelo SS 23. Tyler Johnson RHP 24. Lenyn Sosa RHP 25. Ryan Cordell OF 26. AJ Puckett RHP 27. Thyago Vieira RHP 28. Jonathan Stiever RHP 29. Laz Rivera SS 30. Bernardo Flores LHP Just Missed: Joel Booker, Alex Call, Danny Mendick, Ian Clarkin, Jose Ruiz, Lincoln Henzman, Lency Delgado, Luis Mieses, Kade McClure, Ti'Quan Forbes I was surprised to see so much love for Lency Delgado this early. He's super young and in the AZL. He wasn't really a 4th round draft prospect though even though that's where the Sox took him. He's definitely a guy to watch for sure though. As far as the draft picks are concerned, they the players went in the rounds that their talent actually justifies it would have looked something like this for Sox: 1. Madrigal 2. Walker 3. Pilkington 4. Stiever 5. Davis Martin 6. Jason Bilous RHP 7. Isaiah Carranza RHP 8. Lency Delgado SS 9. Ty Greene C Cal Berkley 10. Cabera Weaver.
  18. I'm not sure what they'll do but Pilkington won't be throwing many innings. Jonathan Stiever is in Great Falls and he's only throwing 3 innings at a time. These college guys will be on limits. Next year to start could be interesting though with Konnor Pilkington, Jonathan Stiever, Davis Martin and Isaiah Carranza.
  19. People enjoy the thread. Don't come into the thread and share thoughts. Problem solved.
  20. Yeah but he jumped big time. He jumped ahead of Hansen.
