1/3 of Keith Law's book is about Hall of Fame voting and it's really interesting. Brian Kenny has super interesting stuff in his too. Kevin Brown and Mike Mussina usually guys most debated.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 24, 2017 -> 05:45 PM) Why isn't Burger ranked higher? Has some great stats Right handed hitter and probably can't stay at 3B. I like him though.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 24, 2017 -> 03:02 PM) How can the Bulls get Deaaron Fox. I would like him on our team. On an unrelated note, what are the odds that Bosh is a Bull? Trading Jimmy Butler is literally the only way they can acquire DeAaron Fox.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 23, 2017 -> 08:32 PM) Haha there's usually one guy that many have a consenus on every year as a top 10 pick who happens to fall. I'm gonna say he's the guy. Hopefully it's not because of an injury *knock on wood*. I hope you are right though. I'd love Gore.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ May 23, 2017 -> 09:02 PM) What was said in this thread that you consider absurd? How about the very first post? His tweet about the newsletter was clearly a joke after taking a beating from Sox fans all day. Also, thinking he has a bias against the Sox is absurd. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but it's pretty baseless.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 23, 2017 -> 07:58 PM) Weird feeling/prediction. I think MacKenzie Gore drops out of the top 10. No basis on it, just a gut feeling. I'll take that bet.

Keith Law has no White Sox bias. This thread is absurd. I think it's funny that people say he "doesn't like Robert" when he said he could be a 3-4 WAR CF and would go in the middle of the 1st round. Sox fans on twitter are being ridiculous. Law hasn't seen Robert play but neither have any of the idiots tweeting at him.
-
I just read Keith Law's book actually. He talks about his time with Toronto in there. He was basically their only "data analyst". He wasn't choosing players. He was basically a lesser version of what Dan Fabian is for the White Sox today. He said in there that he wouldn't be qualified for the same position today. Law has said that Luis Robert could become a 3-4 WAR CF and he didn't scoff at an Adam Jones comp if everything goes right. White Sox fans are embarrassing themselves tonight.

Here's Keith Law's writeup on Luis Robert move: http://www.espn.com/blog/keith-law/insider/post?id=7110 Law isn't really a fan and mentions many of the deals that haven't worked out for Cuban hitters. He also said he hasn't seen Robert play but will once he goes to a team. He said he talked to scouts though and this is what he heard: Hit tool not better than Moncada which is concerning because still real questions about his swing and striking out 27% in AAA. Athletic, plus runner, above average bat speed and raw power. Every single scout Law spoke with had major concerns about Robert's swing and his ability to make contact against even average fastballs inside or up. Robert has a "dead hands" start that results in no load and his swing doesn't involve his lower half. Speed and range for CF with mixed reports on his arm. Contract is commensurate with what guys like him have gotten paid though.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/break...0523-story.html Greenberg and Golic on "poisonous terms" apparently as show nears its end.

QUOTE (oldsox @ May 23, 2017 -> 10:18 AM) Let me get this straight, JImmy. You're saying Sox have signed 20 international guys in 2016-17? Yes. It's right here in Bed Badler's international review: http://www.baseballamerica.com/internation...white-sox-2016/
-
Jesus Luzardo would be a nice get. Was a top 30 draft prospect out of HS prior to the TJS. I think they could land a 2nd piece better than Ward at this point but that would have been a nice trade at the time
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 23, 2017 -> 09:18 AM) What would Hunter Greene go for on the open market? He would exceed what Robert just got by a lot

Looking at Sox international pool for the 2016/2017 Period, they were close to spending it all. They started with $2,973,500. Traded for $756,300. That gives them a total of $3,729,500. They signed Josue Guerrero ($1.1), Mieses ($428K), Comas ($425K), Carabello ($350K), and Sosa ($325K) and 20 players total. They are probably close to $1 million under their pool. If Luis Robert gets $27 million, then the Sox pax taxes on $26 million of it for a total of $53 million. Jeff Passan told Spiegel and Parkins that NL teams were telling him on Saturday that Sox were trying to trade for international bonus slots. It'll be interesting to see if they can get more and lessen the tax load. They have until June 15th to do so.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 20, 2017 -> 04:22 PM) Next period is now officially worthless to the White Sox. I wouldn't classify it as "worthless". They can't make any big ticket expenditures but they can still add guys. They have $4.75 million to spend. They could sign 10 guys for 300K apiece and still trade $1.5 million in International $$. They could trade all $4 million of it if they want. They have options.

Sanchez has been solid. It's only 90 plate appearances though. 127 wRC+, .359 wOBA, .406 BABIP. We need to see more but either way, nothing he does has any influence on any decision to make with Yoan Moncada

In better news, Roger Ailes is also dead.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 17, 2017 -> 11:57 AM) What is Minnesota giving us? They don't have a pick worth Butler and they aren't giving up Wiggins or Towns? Dunn and the 7th isn't near enough. 7th, Lavine, another future 1st and Dunn is enough I think. They need to reset the franchise. I care more about winning titles though than most people apparently and I'm not married to Jimmy Butler. If they wouldn't take a deal like that, well enjoy NBA hell I guess.
-
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 17, 2017 -> 10:40 AM) If you aren't willing to trade the #1 pick, plus another high lottery pick for Butler...then i see no reason to move him. It doesn't have to be Boston though. I could see something getting done with Minnesota.
-
QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ May 17, 2017 -> 09:26 AM) Is he top 5? No. Is he top 10-12, a franchise guy and a national brand? Yes. I still maintain that the Bulls would be stupid to trade Butler, a relatively cheap, All-Star/borderline super-star player, for a bunch of picks that odds say will not pan out and whose ceilings are right where Jimmy Butler is right now. And the FO knows this. They don't want to go through the 00's again with no headlining name. They have someone who will sell tickets and jerseys. They'll try to piece together a team around him. And no matter what they do, they're not beating Lebron in the next 3-4 seasons unless he suffers an injury. I could see them doing this. I just think it's flawed thinking. Butler is really good. They need other really good players though and don't really have any avenue towards getting them. Butler is getting older and has played a ton of minutes. I could absolutely see Butler trying to force his way out of town in 1.5 years and the Bulls will be stuck not getting much back. They can't build a championship roster around Butler. They likely can't without him either but landing multiple superstars via lottery picks is a better alternative in my mind than what they are currently doing which is just wasting everyone's time.

I think this is pretty cool actually. Lolo is f***ing intense. This could be interesting because while the pros are great athletes, CT, Wes, Bananas etc are seasoned game players. Challenge relies so much on strategy.

QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ May 16, 2017 -> 11:04 AM) Thanks for the thoughtful analysis I've analyzed it ad nauseum already. I didn't think anyone needed me to ramble on again.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 17, 2017 -> 01:44 AM) Two inning saves are never easy. Melky Cabrera Blooper Reel and no hard hit balls...that said, Robertson's never going to be more than an 80-85% conversion guy whose strikeout totals look impressive but who usually implodes bigly when he does struggle. And he is inarguably overpaid to put up those numbers for a non-elite closer. And apparently Renteria felt that Swarzak had been used too much already in recent weeks...so you're left with Ynoa and Holmberg to close out a game against the heart of their line-up. He has a 2.38 FIP and is averaging almost 13 K/9. He'll be fine I think.

NBA Draft Lottery tonight. Should have been important for the Bulls but it isn't because they're stupid.
