  1. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 12:08 PM) Where? Lebron is going to boot Kyrie for an older CPaul? I just meant that they'd both be free agents
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 12:14 PM) Can you get a good seat on the lower level for under 40 bucks? Buy an OF seat for $18 and sit wherever the hell you want.
  3. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 11:58 AM) One intersting thing is...by waiting...Boston has positioned itself in a fantastic spot to get real value for Paul George (who is not as good of a player as Jimmy Butler). I still see the Lakers swooping in at some point and making a significant offer for George, because the entire Lakers plan takes a major back seat if they can't get George (since their plan is to get George and LBJ in a package deal). If George is traded to any of the teams rumored...he will sign. I don't think he will. He can make the same amount in LA next year that he could make in Cleveland or Boston. Why would he commit to staying anywhere when he wants to be in LA?
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 11:33 AM) I will say right now...I would have rather kept Butler and traded for CP3...then taken a run at LBJ next off-season. Probably a pipe dream, but It would have been my strategy. That said, I didn't expect Chris Paul to be that much in play. Chris Paul wasn't coming to Chicago though. He's going to Houston for a year and then will be a free agent again. With LeBron.
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 25, 2017 -> 11:02 PM) It's pretty expensive (if you want a decent seat lower level) to go to a game. And with this team the past few years, you never know if you are going to get a ridiculous stinker like the Buehrle game or a game when they get shut out. Good thing we won it all in 05 cause without that we'd definitely be considered one of the worst franchises in sports. It's really not very expensive. I've told you this every single time you post something like this. You never respond though.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 10:19 AM) There are about 10 teams who are going to be in the market for $300k players. Seeing as all have a budget of $4.75 million and higher, I don't see there being a couple of hundred players out there who fit under this umbrella for all of these teams to sign, in addition to having enough players for all of the teams that aren't in the penalty phase too. I think the Sox spend around a million dollars due to lack of player supply, and teams who aren't in the penalty phase being able to bid them just slightly out of the reach of teams who are in the the penalty phase. It's very possible that a team like the Rays decides to spend $10 million internationally. They have a couple big expenditures already. They have $5.75 million to spend. They can trade for $4.25 million more. It's possible that they trade the White Sox or someone else a prospect or 2 for $1.5-$2 million in international money. The Sox need to use this money but it might not be for players.
  7. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 09:37 AM) Let's hope they spend the $4.75MM I hope they use it somehow. Gonna be tough to spend it all though without big $$ items. I'd be cool if they spent $3 million and traded away another $1.5 million.
  8. Here is the international top 30 from mlbpipeline.com: http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2017?list=int Here is the top 50 from Ben Badler: http://www.baseballamerica.com/internation...H6cdRJhyWskL.97 Badler also has some Sox info here: http://www.baseballamerica.com/internation...ZEigYiewU1MU.97 Obviously, the Luis Robert signing puts the White Sox in an unfamiliar place. Ben Badler noted in his piece that the Sox didn't commit to any big bonus players for the upcoming 2017/2018 signing period because if they signed Robert, they'd have to renege on those agreements. The White Sox did sign Robert and they will be in the penalty phase for the 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 signing periods. This is what it means: The White Sox can't sign any international free agents under the age of 25 and subject to the new CBA rules for more than $300,000.00. However, they do technically have $4.75 million to spend on international amateurs. They could trade some of or all of their money to other teams as well. I think it's likely that they sign a bunch of guys for 300K and under bonuses and still have some $$ to trade to needy teams. This is what Badler had to say in the article pertaining to the Sox: If White Sox didn't land Luis Robert, they were likely going to "pivot" to Cuban RHP Roberto Hernandez but he's no longer at the White Sox "Price point". He says they are proceeding with "more of an open canvas" at this point. He does say that they are expected to sign Catcher Jefferson Mendoza, who is described as an athletic right-handed hitting catcher with a strong arm. He also says that they could go after Sydney Pimentel who is a skinny Dominican SS from the same program as Micker Adolfo. Here is some info on Pimentel: http://dplbaseball.com/sidney-pimentel-mif/
  9. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Jun 25, 2017 -> 10:48 PM) In my opinion, the busts we have had and those who will likely be busts. 2008 - Gordon Beckham 2009 - Jared Mitchell, Josh Phegley 2011 = Keenyn Walker 2012- Courtney Hawkins, Keon Barnum 2015- Carson Fulmer 2016- Zack Colllins 2017- Burger Yes, I have lost hoe that Fulmer and Collins will pan put, and I just can't see Burger as a major league player. If Carlos Rodon does not come back to pre-injury form, he might join that list. I just stumbled across this. You are a troll and serve zero purpose on this message board. Go ahead and suspend if it's warranted.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 12:19 PM) Is Tilson any good or another bust? Does he project to be Eaton-ish? That would be good enough. Good enough? Eaton is a f***ing 5 WAR player. I'll do cartwheels if he turns into Adam Eaton.
  11. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 02:03 PM) I'm confused how Sheets ends up getting $2 million bonus way overslot, but a similarly ranked Skoug gets $300k How does Sheets justify $600-700K overslot as a second round pick? White Sox had a 1st round grade on Sheets
  12. I've posted this before but I'll post again here. I have a buddy that is good friends with someone close to Braves organization. He told me in the winter that Atlanta was really interested but balked at trading Maitan or Acuna in the deal. I posted all of that here. This guy gets legit Braves info a lot but the White Sox/Quintana stuff always seemed off so I never "run" with it. I've heard heavy pitching packages as the rumored offers with the following names in play: Mike Soroka, Max Fried, Luiz Gohara, Akeel Morris, and Touki Toussant. I don't think Hahn would go for an all pitching package but Rogers and Ofman have both mentioned Braves interest as well as Atlanta Journal Constitution beat guy Dave O'Brien. Just FYI I guess.

  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 03:48 PM) Yep, they pay 75% on approximately the 35ish thousand dollars they went over. Technically they can go as far as $396,070 over, so in addition to where they are now, they could offer a HS player a deal of around $485k (125k slot + the remaining $360ish thousand they have left under the 5% threshold) and still stay in that 75% tax bracket... without losing a pick. They didn't draft a HS player to do this with though.
  15. Tanner Banks promoted to AA Birmingham and Bernardo Flores to High A Winston Salem
  16. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 26, 2017 -> 07:33 AM) Where has Amado Nunez been? He's playing in the AZL. Just started. I just wrote the AZL Preview for FutureSox that should be dropping shortly.
  17. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 05:23 PM) I disagree on the value. What's the worst case if they waited? We don't get Levine and his bionic knee? My guess is they couldn't decide what to do and panicked last minute and took the 'best' of the s***ty offers when they should have just waited it out. There's nothing they got in return that's going to change the face of this franchise so there was no point in not just waiting it out for the year. I agree on picking a lane finally, much like the white sox. But selling a 2nd round pick & this bonehead front office signals they don't have a clue and ensures a garbage franchise for another 5-10 years minimum. Waiting didn't make any sense. The offer wouldn't have been better at deadline or next year. Another huge part of this was adding #7 pick and now they will be bad enough to pick top 5 next year. They likely wouldn't have that option if they wait. I loved Dunn at Providence and Lavine was shooting 40% from 3 and averaging almost 19 PPG as a 22 year old. I think they got enough back. I would have been much happier had they used #16 on like Harry Giles and took someone at #38 though. Those are my gripes.
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 05:25 PM) I certainly get the impression that this all came together pretty last minute and I am curious how much homework we even did on who we selected, etc. I wonder how much we even looked at Dunn based upon what happened this past season (vs. our pre-draft assessment from a year ago). That said, very clear that now that they have a direction...strategy will be set. Also interesting that the trading of the 2nd round pick was an "ownership" thing. Seems odd to state that. Jason Goff said on radio today that deal was done at 2PM. Also got deep into talks with Phoenix but Suns balked at including #4 once it appeared Jackson would be available. Denver refused to include Jamal Murray. Goff also said they wanted Jonathan Isaac but thought Markkanen was clear BPA.
  19. Oshie just signed an 8 year deal to stay in Washington
  20. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 12:45 PM) My issue is....wouldn't this dumpster fire of a return have been available at pretty much any point until the deadline in 2019? No. It's not really a dumpster fire of a return either. It's just not what fans were expecting. This is the return I was expecting. I said in my mock draft blog post yesterday that Butler would go to Minny for LaVine, Dunn, and #7. That was always most realistic package. Giving up #16 with him didn't make any sense though. I think his value would have continued to decrease and there was no reason to wait any longer. What would be the point? This was the best deal and they took it. It's not a great package but it's not really about the return. It's about what trading Butler signifies. They've identified that what they were doing didn't make any sense and they are going young. Now they just need to be really bad. They were never going to pay Jimmy Butler $200+ million to play in his early thirties. It just didn't make sense. Trading #16 and dumping a 2nd is really f***ing annoying but I'm so glad that they chose to go this direction.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 03:51 PM) It the Hammer deal freeing up money? No. Same cap hit as the new guy but more cost certainty because he's younger with more years of control
  22. Getting Saad back is awesome. Better and younger than Panarin.
  23. QUOTE (yesterday333 @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 09:27 AM) As the article says, it'll be interesting to see how they handle Zavala and Collins. I'm a little surprised Collins didn't move up because of that. Have we heard yet where they are putting Burger and Sheets? It seems like Dulin and REmillard will either go to Winston Salem and Sheets and Burger will go to Kanny or Sheets and Burger go right to Winston Salem.
  24. Yeah I think they'll definitely be over their pool.
  25. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 02:05 PM) Does anyone even like Dunn? Or is it just because he was picked high its worth the risk? The only reason Dunn would interest me is if I could convince someone higher to take Dunn + 7 so the Bulls could move up in the draft. Otherwise Id actually rather get 7 + Levine + Shabazz and more picks. I just feel like Dunn youre paying a premium for and Im not really a fan. I loved him in college but he wasn't good last year.
